Spirit Taming

Chapter 601: Calling The Team

Chapter 601: Calling The Team

This massive vine had thorns the size of Clark's arms. He was sure that they could easily kill them all like a sword or a massive needle through the heart. However, Reese, who had noticed this massive vine first, was not just standing idly by.

A large amount of spiritual and metal energy grew together. The sudden sword aura that they all felt was simply the strength that Reese and the spirit steel sword had managed to gather through their training and growth to enhance the spiritual typing and the metal typing between them.

This refinement of energy happened with every trained strike of Reese's sword. Every single time that the spirit steel sword grew closer to reese. The strengthening of their bond was more than just the two of them as a tamer and as a spirit beast. It was the closeness that came with touching on the true bond between them. Their united souls.

Reese had always been in tune with the swordsmanship of his family. To use spiritual, light, and metal energies to show off a sword style that many had deemed weak. Yet, Reese had grown stronger lately. He had adapted his sword style by learning others and adjusting it. Refining the ideal family sword style that could counter and react to others.

From there, his partner had been storing spiritual energy to bond them closer. To feel that each other was just part of one another's body. The metal energies had been refined through every movement to enhance their strengths and defenses. Becoming the perfect pair. As if they were one being.

The training that a weapon, a sword, was just an extension of oneself was not new. It was something that many people practiced. However, with sword type beasts, this was beyond the true way to manage their bonds.

For Reese and the spirit steel sword, they were one. They were part of each other. That was why the spirit steel sword vibrated and showed its emotions so often. It mirrored Reese and Reese showed the slightly colder temperament that came with metal and steel. It wasn't a negative projection, it was a clear cut example of the two becoming closer.

This was why the spiritual and metal energy came together in to a sword aura faster than anyone else would have been able to if they had trained trying to match Reese. The oppressive feeling that the group noticed was stronger than what Clark had expected.

As the slightly glowing spirit steel sword was drawn down, a flash of energy caused the massive thorny vine that had  been completely severed. Reese could barely hold himself steady for a second, but that wasn't an issue. Brad came out of nowhere to shield him with his possessed armaments.

The red glow of unique metal and blood energies around Brad proved to be massively enhancing the defensive abilities that he had. His body appeared heavier and much stronger. The follow up attacks of multiple thorny vines hit the shield as Brad deflected them and even slashed out with the sword. They all fell limply without any energy.

None of them had noticed that Brad had managed to control the berserk ability enough to use them to boost his physical prowess so much. He was easily able to block, attack, then grab Reese to retreat. The two just needed a moment to handle themselves and catch their breath.

"Perfect attack! Perfect opening!" Ralph charged in, he had leapt on to the back of the molten boar and pushed forward. He had both axes at the ready to slash away more vines through the opening that Reese and Brad had created.

His charged toward the main head of the life sawing vine was not stopped at all. Instead, it only sped up as the molten boar channeled more fire energy around it. The result was that Ralph leaped up and above the head digging his axes innside the beast to damage it while a toxic acid cloud was breathed down by the molten boar.

Since the life sawing vine beast had strong poison typing, the damage from the molten boar was significantly lessened. However, it was not used to dry acidic heat. It was damaged enough to at the wounds Ralph inflicted were worsened by a large margin.

But the two did not risk their lives, Ralph and the molten boar retreated immediately which prevented them from being attacked by the beast's smaller vines and roots that jutted up after the major strike.

The rage that the life sawing vine beast had after feeling such a major attack was not small. It wanted to draw in a massive breath and spread decaying poison in the air  to counter the people attacking it.

"Did you expect that they were alone?" the soft voice that spoke was not expecting that a beast would hear it, but it had become a habit for Jerold as he attacked out of nowhere. In his silent scouting and invisibility, he had grown used to attacking and speaking for the first time in hours.

"Ha, there's Jerold. I didn't even notice that he had arrived." Grace laughed a little out of surprise and just how impressed she was. None of them had noticed his appearance until Grace had spoken. Even Clark mentally praised Jerold for remaining hidden, most likely since he had been dropped in to the dungeon.

Jerold's strike was right at the base of where the roots and the head of the life sawing beast met. It was not a death blow, but it added the unique poisons from the mouth of his armored chameleons which further disrupted the way that the beast could move and fight. It also left a large cut that let sap bleed out, weakening the beast as a whole.

Unfortunately for Jerold, he had not reacted to the counter atatck in time and was slammed back by a thorny vine. The cuts on his arms as he had deflected the attack evident but not life threatening. That was until the slight tinge of black proved he was poisoned.

"Brad, guard Jerold, Ralph, use some potions to help count-"

"No, I will have him healed!" Maria shouted out from Clark's left. She had heard the commotion and brought herself towards them at her fastest speed. Her breath was ragged but she had dodged enemies and pushed through the muck and water to reach them. Her reaction to Jerold being injured was an instant potion and healing methods using the strength she had from Lit.

That wasn't all though, she had met up with Ella on the way. Both of them were drawn by the noise of the major fight along with the signals of the large beast fighting by drawing back its larger roots and thorny vines.

A small blue flame ball shot out of the air from where Ella stood. She struggled to allow all of her beasts out because she was not yet strong enough to balance the energies. However, that did not mean she could not call them out of her taming space. She had been training herself enough to call out the blue flame skeleton for a short while.

The results were the blue flame balls bringing up a lot of the smaller thorny vines without any sign of stopping. It could care less about the humid and wet environment.

"Ella, I am going in to a major strike." Clark did not doubt what he saw.  A large opening from the cut vines, burning vines, and general damage to one area of the life sawing vine beast. It was an opportune place and time to strike out against it with all his might. Clark had also been allowing the energy within the black lightning spear to grow. He had not used its unique attack in some time.

With the shifting storms meditation fully moving the energy through Clark's body, he had noticed that he was better off sensing the build up of lightning within the black lightning spear. he also could tell that he could release smaller bursts of lighting from it if he desired, but it taxed his own energy and his mental state to do so. Not that this stopped him at all.

The crackle of lightning energy around Clark made everyone feel the need to shield themselves. They could tell that the energy within the entire dungeon had become more chaotic when he began to channel his moving meditation technique.

In a flash of speed that Clark rarely used to prevent himself from exhausting his physical strength, he pushed forward without worries for the vines attempting to attack him. He knew that Grace and Isa were attacking them and keeping them from even getting near him. He trusted them to protect him as he pierced forward with the black lightning spear.

The lunar dragon pierce seemed to roar as lightning coated the blade and entered the root ball of the life sawing vine beast. A crack of thunder due to Clark's attack echoed throughout the entire dungeon leaving only the question of how long before it closed. No one expected that a beast would survive such a brutal and powerful attack right in its most vital place.
