Chapter 602: Overextended Energy

Chapter 602: Overextended Energy

Cracking lightning seemed to reverberate through the air. Every burst of wind that followed was only because of the controlled power that Clark had unleashed. Beside him, Shy had made a move to cover his body in the vine of the poison vines she controlled with the body of the beast she had taken as a puppet.

Those vines were broken away but kept Clark safer. Something that Shy care more for than keeping a puppet beyond this dungeon. It wasn't that Clark needed the protection, but Shy sensed the danger in the attack and did not wish to see Clark have a scratch on his body at all. It was born of true caring between the two.

The bond strengthening while Clark had relied on Shy to carry his friends safely and protect them when in jured.,

This had been the last piece in the puzzle for Shy to truly awaken the bond between her and Clark. She could sense the energies that Devi and Crim constantly shared with him. She sensed that there was enough to spark her own potential even more than before.

Clark was not blind to things, he thrived in the feeling of protection that his beasts had when they were with him and when they were guarded by him in turn. They relied upon one another. But right now, he was focused on the results of his attack.

The cracking of the wind due to the sudden burst of lightning also brought with it sparks of fire. This intense release of energy would have caused the same dangers anywhere else. If lightning struck a tree, the only result would be the smell of ozone and burning before a massive burst of wind and shattered wood.

The life sawing vine beast was exactly that. The main head had split in to many slivers of what it had been. The lightning had arced through the roots causing them to burst and steam to rise. Small parts were even burning. The ideal destruction of the unique decaying poisons that it had within its body without releasing them to harm others.

The only parts that survived were the broken and soft inner roots that were ideal for a beast's nutrition. The only parts that Clark had even wanted to try and save due to the benefits that they could bring the group. However, what he had missed was that his body was unable to perfectly control all this energy when released.

He had overdrawn himself to force the black lightning spear to release all this energy in  concentrated attack.

Clark may have been learning and growing at astonishing speeds. This was evident in his actions while sparring and more. Beyond that, he had been using the shifting storms meditation technique at a consistent rate. But his body needed to constantly adapt to the level of strength and power within him and traveling through him.

By pushing the black lightning spear to send all its energy from within at once when he was not adept in doing so just yet, brought a backslash.

Clark's muscles screamed at him to remain still. He had definitely torn a few muscles by doing this. Beyond that, his head felt as if he had just dropped a boulder on it. Enough that Clark understood he had extended his mind too far in this last attack. The pressure of controlling the lightning within such a unique weapon came with risks.

He had to train to release lightning like this, and to do so, he would need to wait for Crim to awaken. For Crim to consume what was also within the flask he had gained before.

When he fell to one knee, hands caught him. He noticed that Maria had made it to him and was forcing a healing potion in to his lips. He wasn't going to argue with anyone and drank it while feeling the refreshing chill in his body. But he also looked at Jerold who had been hit with potion.

Yet, when he focused on the injuries, he could tell that they were nothing to worry about. The armored chameleon was working tentacle and tongue with Lit. Lit was healing with every touch of a tentacle to Jerold's injuries while the armored chameleon used his tongue to absorb the decaying poison.

This had never been a possibility to Clark. That the armored chameleon would have gotten strong enough to absorb a decaying poison that could have easily harmed all of them. This greatly exceeded the expectations of what he had for the group as a whole. That he might not be seeing what they were all truly capable of right now.

"We managed to beat it, huh?" Clark said this out loud right before everything seemed to twist and shift in his vision. They had all been moved by an unseen force and were surrounding the bodies of the beasts they defeated. The large open area of the violent jungle was completely silent and no beast appeared to be anywhere near them.

As if this was a gift to thank them for their hard work for existence itself.

'Major sub quest- growing rot- completed

Requirement: destroy the invasive species of beast that has taken root of the dungeon and allow the dungeon to close properly.

Reward: major sections of the violent jungle map filled in, rot repellant potion formula, ten death crystals, ten shadow crystals, one large dragon crystal, one rare gotcha ticket.'

Clark saw that the system was reacting as well. It had acknowledged their success in defeating the source of the problems for the broken dungeon. Beyond that, there was the added bonus that they had managed to find useful items along the way that they could use in their final mapping of the violent jungle.

Even before he was able to take another look around, Clark fell on to his butt with a large sight of relief. He was happy that they were all safe and that they had managed to get through being separated like this. Grace was already being treated by Maria even though she was already looking better. Isa clearly needed rest since she had used a lot of energy.

The same with Ella who had called out the blue flame skeleton even though she could not handle the draw of energy between them due to her body falling behind her beast's strengths.

Regardless, everyone managed to make it out with some benefits. The battle experience was the greatest win of all for them though. They had all managed to battle multiple beasts in a  place that was not at all an advantage for them. Furthermore, that they were able to push themselves and flow in to teamwork even when missing parts of their group.

This aside, Clark was also able to examine the map quickly. The larger section that had just been revealed was shocking. It was the entire outer edge and a path to the center of the violent jungle . the exact place that he had been meaning to head next. The group was also shown on the map to be much closer than he had imagined.

But first, Clark crawled in to the tents they had left behind. He was glad to have set it up as he started to close his eyes slightly. The rot repellent potion formula was going to be very useful for Maria and Ella who could make it and use it as a way for the dungeon to be resisted. Along with other poisons that might be lingering within jungles or swamps.

Ella would record every bit of information about it.

Devi could claim the ten death crystals as Shy would claim the ten shadow crystals. There would be a chance for them to grow, seeing as Devi and Shy also showed signs of growing to their next level in strength, it was a big deal. Bit Clark already felt that the pair was holding each other back.

Not because they were in competition or because of ill will. They were waiting for Crim to awaken first. They wanted Clark to have a guardian of sorts while they rested as well. But it was getting much harder for the two to remain as they were. They could sense that they would need more strength for what was to come. The main dungeon at the center of the violent forest was their goal as well.

A place that they would conquer beside Clark and the others.

The large dragon crystal didn't even fall in to the taming space for more than a second before it was pulled and absorbed directly in to the slime ball that was Crim. Clark could sense that it was the fuel that Crim needed. The flask also breaking open and causing the red slime to become much denser. As if Crim was undergoing his own trial.

This was on Clark's mind as he drifted off in to dreams. Odd dreams of energies he had not had influenced him. Of a past life not as a human, but as a beast. A past life that had ended up with the birth of Crim.
