Chapter 57: Small Gift
Chapter 57: Small Gift
"Did you have to drag me down here so quickly? I just finished the guest instructor tasks for the fourth year students." Clara was a little frazzled since she had been caught by Alexander as soon as she had finished her duties.
"Oh stop being like that. You don't ever come and see your mentor. Now you have a junior learning from the very same mentor and you were going to run away." Alexander was acting much more hurt than he would actually be. Anyone could see that it was all a farce to mess with Clara.
"I was going to come and see Clark. But you? Not worth the time." The glare that Alexander received from Clara would make most people crumble. Alexander could only laugh.
"Ever since I sent you on that trip to deal with the ground slugs you have been like this. It was one request that made you the god coins you needed for the last materials required for your little kitten. I never remember you being so ungrateful afterward." There was definitely a story here that Clark wanted to hear.
Unfortunately, Clara increased the strength of her glare and he knew it was impossible.
"Clark, I see you have a second beast. Care to tell me about it?" Crim looked up at Clara. He remembered that Clara had been in the arena when Clark had gotten angry so he held himself in a defensive position.
"Calm down." Two words were enough for Crim to know that this was not the reason for Clark's previous anger. "This is Crimson. He is a slime dragon. I noticed the egg characteristics when I was at the auction and had to place a bid using Alexander's money."
"So you are smart. Using his money is always the best option. You wouldn't imagine how much of it he has just to throw around. I hear he even paid a small fortune to allow the third year and first years in to the goblin cemetery early. The second years were supposed to go there first."
From what Clark could gather, Clara was still very connected to Nova academy. She was one of the best students to ever graduate, therefore, it made a lot of sense that many people would share the recent gossip with her.
"You better get stronger faster Crim, there are a lot of things we need to handle in the future." Clara greeted Crim before looking around, "And how is Devi?" Without hesitation, Devi appeared behind Clara and bumped in to her shoulder to get her attention.
"You have grown already. Less round and more menacing. I wonder what you will be after you get some more materials." The smirk that Clara had told Clark that she was thinking of many things. Specifically, the power that Devi would be able to bring to her side when she and her family made their move.
"I am actually working on gathering materials to enhance the taming space I am trying to awaken. It is strongly revolving around Devi's characteristics but I assume I can mix in something with dragon essence to help Crim too." Clark had been deep in thought about this so he couldn't help but spill it right away.
"If that's what you are concerned about I can get you some time off. There are a few places I can send you. They won't be safe though." A wicked glint appeared in Alexander's eyes for a moment. He was not afraid of sending Clark somewhere to allow him to gain strength. Or even get beat up a little. Both were necessary to get stronger in the long run.
"Before that. Care to explain why you seem to be so close to that girl?" As soon as Clara asked this, Alexander grabbed her shoulder.
"Not now. He will make his own allies just as you have." The way that Alexander spoke told Clark that if he even dared to pry information from them that he would end up much worse off. It was not so much a feeling as a clear picture painted for him.
"I see. Then tell me, your friend. What do you know about her so far?" Clara had started to blatantly interrogate him. She wanted answers and as much as Clark wanted to keep his cards to himself, there was no chance of that happening.
"She had a glow sting jellyfish named Lit as a spirit beast. She is very nervous whenever we seem to see someone related to the Mourne family. The Cain family's young master even called her many names and tried to get her to leave the academy before I killed him.
Even more odd is the fact that when she sees me get angry around the Cain or Mourne family, she gets shy and doesn't show much but minor fear."
Clark had not put together many other puzzle pieces. From his perspective, Maria had a troubled history with the Mourne family and violence in general. That could be the same for Clark which meant that he may have unknowingly run in to someone just like him. However, they were different. The two had taken different feelings. Clark took revenge and hatred whereas Maria took fear and worry.
"Interesting, you seem to have made a small friendship with her. I won't admonish you for that. Just remember you still need to learn to control your emotions. I felt your bloodlust from the arena. I am not the only one." Clara visibly relaxed after telling him off for his obvious anger. Clark wanted to ask more and learn about Maria.
However, it was not the time.
"Well? Start smiling now. I brought you a gift." Clara pulled a small gem from her spatial ring and tossed it to Clark. "You said you are building a taming space, right? I thought you would rush in to that so I grabbed a little something from my family's treasury."
'Space stone- Ultra rare
The space stone is an extremely rare gem that is formed at the core of certain spatial type monsters. They are perfect for a tamer to advance and grow their taming spaces. Those that use one fully while creating their taming space will have a much higher chance of awakening a unique taming space. '
"This is…" Clark wasn't even sure how such a perfect item for him could exist. The system had given him the knowledge to be able to open a unique taming space. Yet this gem would help him guarantee it. He wouldn't need to worry so much after gathering the best materials possible.
"So you like your junior enough to give him one of the five space stones that your family found in that dungeon. Interesting. I think you are a better senior than I believed." Alexander praised Clara but had awakened a question in Clark.
"What do you mean a dungeon? Is it like a wild area?" The thought that Clark had was that a dungeon was just the same as the wild area he had traveled to. A place somewhere in the world where he could travel to defeat native beasts or tame native beasts. Somewhere he could easily journey to on his own two feet or with the help of a beast like the cloud whale.
