Chapter 58: Dungeon Lesson
Chapter 58: Dungeon Lesson
"I take it you haven't had that lesson yet. I am sure that professor Wright will mention it soon. They are very different from wild areas. They are not even in the same space." This explanation made Clark even more confused.
"And this is why I don't come and visit you. You never explained things properly." It looked like Clara was winding up to punch Alexander before she decided it wasn't even worth it.
"So not wild areas, like beast taming spaces." The idea seemed to make sense to Clark but there was still a lot of uncertainty.
"Similar but different. A dungeon can be created when a powerful tamer dies and leaves their taming space behind. It will form a physical link wherever they were. This allowed there to be a strange spatial tear where someone can enter their taming space. That way they are able to pass on their items, the beast's offspring, and even knowledge. But that is only one example of a dungeon.
That's a tamer made dungeon."
Clark felt that this was easily possible. The tamers that became very powerful had a great deal of energy within their bodies and taming spaces. It couldn't all just disappear when they died. It had to go somewhere. From his past life memories, he also knew that energy was neither destroyed nor created.
There had to be a flow of energy somewhere and he had never heard of someone exploding to release energy after dying.
"A natural dungeon is where many beasts can be found. The energy of the world will connect different places together that may or may not be on the same plane of existence. There is too much mystery for anyone to understand. Some beasts can even break in to such places." Clara slowly explained things while Alexander just watched.
"The dungeons will anchor themselves for whatever reason in any place. They can appear randomly. They can also disappear randomly if they lose the energy that they use to anchor themselves. The beasts within, materials, and potential relics could be the rise or fall of a tamer. Many have perished in long term dungeons trying to discover something new."
"So, this spatial stone, you got it from a dungeon." Clark understood the subject matter and wondered if the spatial stone was the only thing that could form in a dungeon.
"That dungeon was one my father discovered. He brought me to test my strength after graduation. We found that the beats there were space jumping rabbits. Annoying but easy to beat. At the core of the dungeon, we found five of those spatial stones anchoring it to a simple forest. We took them, escaped, then used the stones.
That's the last one that we saved for a potential ally in the future."
Knowing that Clara and her father had planned the use of this spatial stone well in advance actually made Clark feel better. It wasn't that she was just giving away things because he was her junior. It was part of the plan to become stronger and defeat the Mourne family.
"From what you said, it sounds like this could cause beast waves if the wrong, more powerful, dungeon anchors near a city." This was the logical explanation to why the beast waves were randomly aligned with what type of beasts appeared.
"That is exactly it. You will have to face a beast tide one day. But first, you will have to go to a long term dungeon protected by the academy. There are about twenty that we have control of. The city itself controls over a hundred. All for the education of students, soldiers, and acquisition of materials." Alexander was very glad to see that Clark had grasped this topic easily.
"I want to go to one." Hesitation was nowhere in the room. Clark wanted to go to a dungeon and see what he could find to become even stronger faster.
"Rushing in to them is not recommended. You will go to one within the week. Just train until then. The dungeon you are going to is undecided. But this old man can push them to make a certain decision." Clara looked at Alexander. There was an unspoken acknowledgment between them.
"Don't look soo disappointed. From what Clara told me, you were at the arena today. You didn't stay and challenge anyone. Go tomorrow and fight. I want you there all week when you are not in class. I want you to have your ghostly steps mastered.
I want you to use that spear more." Alexander placed the training plan in front of him. Clark wasn't even sure when Alexander had learned so much.
"I- Yes. I will do that. I need to keep learning the moonlight spear arts to be able to take down beasts without Crim and Devi." Clark had almost gotten too far ahead of himself. He was still physically weak compared to the enemies he had.
"Good, now, Clara and I have a lot to discuss. Return to your meditation." Alexander nearly dragged Clara from the room. It seemed to Clark that she was going to try and have him train against her. She was all too curious about how strong Clark had gotten since the short time between when she had seen him last.
"Devi, I know you can't train too much so I will let you focus on meditation and sneaking around. Crim, you will join me battling other students for the week. I will learn the moonlight spear arts." The book with the spear arts in it appeared in Clark's hands. He wanted to read through it again carefully so that he would have it perfectly memorized.
Without doing so he didn't feel that he would truly master anything.
By the time the morning had come around and the classes had ended, Clark had found that Clara and Alexander were correct. Professor Wright had made a focus on dungeons and wild areas. The knowledge given was a little more advanced than what Clark had heard, but that was good. He needed to know the dangers of wilderness against dungeons.
"I can't believe that some dungeons are made when tamers die. They even have traps in them." Maria found it extremely interesting and terrifying. The potential to die within a dungeon appeared much greater than in the wild. Someone could prepare for the wild if they gather information properly. No one could prepare for a random dungeon.
"It explains why there are elite soldiers known as dungeon hunters. I would believe that they are in a league of their own." Clark had latched on to this carefully. The position would have attracted him much more when he was with his parents. Now it just seemed to be a small potential after he handled his revenge.
"We are even going to an academy dungeon at the end of the week! I can't believe professor Wright didn't tell us what dungeon though." The small frown on Maria's face paired with her abnormally high energy was pleasant. Clark almost couldn't take his eyes off of her.
"Whatever the dungeon we go to, we will come out stronger. We are going to clean out every potential material we can." This was more than a goal. It was the perfect opportunity for Clark to jump up many levels in strength.
