Chapter 537: No Choice
Chapter 537: No Choice
Before any more shouts about the deceased Lunar ciyt lord could be heard, the group watched the transformed monster of a man slash downwards with his claws. It was faster than any of their eyes could catch. But they all felt the intimidating energy that came with it.
A single crack appeared before the entire wall was pushed back with immense force. It was damaged to the point that every dark world and alpha dark wolf could enter. Not a single guard, beast, or member of the group could have stopped this.
"What is that monster?" Maria looked horrified seeing the rush of beasts and the uncaring monster that led them in to the center of the city while still clutching a corpse.
'Dark werewolf- monster
After forcefully consuming the heart of the alpha dark wolf, the human tamer was able to gain the powers of the alpha dark wolf at a much higher level. Their body was altered enough to change forms at will, especially in the night.
They are able to partially transform and attack at will which makes them incredibly dangerous. They are more powerful at night when the dark energies are naturally stronger. There is also the fact that they can easily control the dark wolf population as their soldiers.
They have decaying bites that will also potentially create a dark wolf mutt that would be forced to follow their orders. Even worse, they have incredible defense and regenerative abilities. This allows them to survive brutal injuries.
The best way to kill this monster is to completely destroy their heart so that it will not beat again. The strength required to do…'
Clark saw the analysis and felt the energies in the air as the dark werewolf mobbed away. It was clearly more powerful than any other monster they had seen. The ones set on Nebula City had been weak fodder by comparison. Just kidnapped students from a traveling academy that never had a proper home. Now, this monster was destroying a city.
"The goal is different. Kill whatever attacks you, rescue people, evacuate toward Terra City." Clark made his words heavy. His tone made everyone feel the weight of his orders. But they also knew that he was telling them not to die. He didn't have to say it out loud, the way he spoke made them understand that he valued them over everything.
Watching a powerful monster had pushed them all in to a daze. But Clark's words had snapped them out of it and now they were in their own mentality. They would not be some powerful heroes that could face an upper cultists who could destroy a powerful city wall. Who already spoke allowed that their master had sent them to destroy an entire city. But they could save some people.
"Do you feel that?" Ralph looked at Ella and Isa. he had sensed a large amount of fire energy in the distance.
"I can."
"Me too."
The three turned back toward the direction of Solar Academy City. The attack on Lunar city had been well planned, and so had an attack on Solar City. a large ball of fire was drifting in to the air. Enough for someone to see it for miles.
The resounding boom of energy made the group certain that there would be two cities falling tonight before the sun had risen. "Forget about Solar Academy City. We are focusing on Lunar. Professor Wright is strong enough to be able to evacuate people safely. She is smart." Clark snapped everyone back to their task and watched as Reese and Jerold darted away.
Maria stuck close to Clark while the others saw their own way in to the city. It was natural that they would split up and start to find people the best that they could while handling the weaker dark wolves and alpha dark wolves. It was a surety that each of them could handle these beasts, but when they saw the state of the city, things were much worse.
"It looks like they had just started to clear up those with hallucinations." Maria was able to spot the healers going around to anyone they saw. But most had begun to run away when the wolves had attacked. This left some people free from the hallucinations and others still suffering.
The downside of this was that many people had been killed by the rubble from the wall and were now victims of the dark wolves. Since their minds were not intact, they did not realize how they could run. Why they should run. Or what was even going on. It was cruel.
"There!" Clark spotted a shape crouched under a fruit stall. In a few steps, he had dashed to it and pulled out two children. The little girl and a clearly older brother had definitely been here and somehow resisted the poisonous smoke that had affected the city. Naturally, they hid where they could.
"Leave the city and move with the group you find towards Terra city. More people will follow behind. Do not stop unless you are told to by one of us." Clark pointed in the direction and quickly dashed towards the next intelligent person he saw.
Maria used Lit in the royal cloak form to be able to heal as many people as possible. She was healing the smaller injuries to those that were attempting to hide.
That was where the challenge was. This was chaos. Wild beasts were feasting, killing, and generally running mad within the city. Between the slashes and attacks needed to maintain this, the group struggled to pick out those with their minds intact to rescue.
Before Ralph could approach one house, a flurry of flames spread out across the street. The flame ball that had risen from the Solar Academy City had not dissipated. Instead, the attack had brought chunks of flaming rock in to the sky and down all over the area. A clear example of another powerful monster attacking the other city as well.
While Ralph managed to leap and cover a nearby woman from the flames, the homes nearby were easily caught on fire. This added risk made it clear that the group could not stay. Grace took over and sent the woman toward the direction of Terra City. But at this point, those that had realized there was a fire were starting to flee.
With the group having started to push people in one direction, the other followed without having to be told. But the dangers still remained. Clark found himself next to a group of six guards fighting an alpha dark wolf and seven other dark wolves.
The sudden ambush had harmed the Lunar City guards since they were outnumbered. But they were able to notice that Clark was not an enemy as he stepped out with the black lightning spear.
The attack had penetrated the skull of the alpha dark wolf which broke the teamwork of the dark wolves below it. This was enough to allow the guards to fight back and Maria to leap in and stab two more.
While this fight was over in a few seconds, the guards remained at the ready for another attack. "You need to head toward Terra City. guard the escaping people. Lunar and Solar Academy cities have been lost to the blood moon cultists. Prepare for a battle in Terra City to defend your lives." Clark didn't even hesitate to tell them what to do.
The guards understood the situation better than anyone else due to their training.
It wasn't the city that the guards had to protect, but the people. Regardless of their wars, both Lunar and Solar cities knew very well where they sat. they had their people to grow and gain strength. They had their people to build the city. Their people represented the soldiers and guards. Their people, were their core.
Who needed some city?
With this group of guards on the move, Clark looked ahead to see that multiple alpha dark wolves were watching them. His group had drawn the attention of the werewolf. That meant that they would be attacked any second if they stayed here.
It felt like they had done so little. Managed to push few people out to safety. Yet, that was all that they could do to survive right now. The hope that someone powerful would arrive was also in the dirt. Who would show up that could rival a monster that could fight and defeat a city lord?
Even with Lunar and Solar cities being weaker due to prolonged wars, their lords had strength. They should have been able to stand up to a monster from the cult. That wasn't the case though. The two cities had been schemed against, properly set up, and were being knocked down.
"Maria, we are retreating. Back to Terra City. I will head toward Solar City and meet with Professor Wright." Clark was already on the move when Maria tried to tell him they would all leave together. She knew that he was on his way to make sure that any groups fleeing to Lunar City would not head this way and instead to Terra.
