Spirit Taming

Chapter 538: Professor Wright's Power

Chapter 538: Professor Wright's Power

While Clark felt that he could not use the same degree of strength as he could if he was better rested, his speed did not slow. He was sprinting back toward Solar city and was thanking the lord of creation that it was this pair of cities that were closest to one another.

The massive burst of flames and magma that had come from the city had been a clear attack. While he was not worried that Professor Wright would be safe, he was worried about those fleeing the city.

Solar Academy City was on a massive lake of lava. The main thing that kept it solid was the fact that tamers and beasts worked to be able to maintain their city's safety. Therefore, such an explosion would definitely be enough to shake the foundation of the city and even possibly sink it in to the depths of lava below them.

The closer that Clark got as he and Crim used a lot of their energies to push themselves forward, the more that Clark felt he had been proved right in his theories. The smoke in the area was not any hallucinogenic smoke that Lunar city had dealt with. It was the burning of wood, fabrics, and even people.

The smell was one that no one could ever forget or ever miss. The smell was the same as that which lingered around his family home. Lingered around the bodies of his parents and the egg that they had spent too much gold on for him when they worried that he did not have a spirit beast like everyone else his age.

The sudden flashback and emotions were too much for Clark to handle. He realized that something just as evil was happening to two cities and he was still too weak. This was in no way the challenge threat Clark expected to face. He thought he would face beasts and cultists. Not his own memories and pain here.

The acrid smoke seemed to blow in the breeze towards him in a mocking manner. It was enough to make Clark take right to the air. Crim could sense the feelings that were reverberating off of Clark. The same for Devi and Shy, they both reacted and began to prepare themselves for battle the second that they sensed Clark's pain.

This only increased the more that they pushed forward. Clark could see the shifting rocks that proved that the remainder of the city was barely held tougher. He didn't notice it in the heat of the moment, but his eyes had begun to focus better on the details.

It was why he noticed the people in groups running from the crumbling walls of the city. They were guided by small beasts that Clark could barely make out until he realized that they were the same gnats that Professor Wright used to scout the paths they took.

There were more than just a few people too. The steam of people easily numbered over a hundred running towards him and the direction of Terra City. This had been the evacuation that Professor Wright had facilitated to rescue the people. She said she could handle this, and Clark had not doubted that. However, he also saw that she was not fleeing either. It was either a good thing or a bad thing.

His speed only increased while yelling words of encouragement to the passing people. Clark had managed to stomp down his impulsive rage that came when he smelled the smoke of the city slowly burning to nothing within the magma lake. But when he made it to the walls, he found that the buildings were all half way melted in to the magma.

Guards leaped from roof to roof knowing that they might not have a leg to stand on soon. Those with powerful enough resistances were able to temporarily bounce through the lava flows which was enough to rescue one or two people. But their burned legs and arms showed that those guards had long accepted their deaths regardless of resistances.

the powerful shockwave as heat radiated through the air drew Clark's attention. A larger man was wielding a two handed sword that appeared to be living flames itself. But the solid strokes proved that it held immense weight. Every strike released powerful heat and flames across a large area of the city.

The opponent was something that Clark didn't even have the desire to face. The system analysis of the monster made it incredibly clear that the beast was something that should not be.

'Volcanic hybrid- monster

The volcanic hybrid is a monster that was once human. Upon allowing the volcano spirit, a beast that resides within a volcano, to take over its body, the evil intentions within the human half took control. The goodness of the volcano spirit were burned away along with the rational human side as well.

This left behind a mixture of magma and human body that had poorly fused together. Because of its reliance on fire energy, the human half will burn up once it uses its strength. The volcano spirit will perish when this happens. But until then, it is a mindless beast that will fight and destroy where it is directed by a being stronger than it.

This monster is considered an abomination that should not be. If there were kind intentions and proper facilitation, a new race of being could have been born. This is an incredibly impossible task that even the lord of creation hoped no one would undertake. Unfortunately, this is not the case here. Instead, the human side intentionally harbored evil to create a monster.

The world weeps for this lost life.

The incredible strength possessed by a volcanic hybrid is enough to cause eruptions, magma control, and incredible damage to an environment as a whole. The best method is to flee from this living disaster before it perishes in an explosion of incredible fire type energy which in turn causes a volcanic eruption over a large area…'

There was plenty more to read about what this monster was. About what this human half had done. Clark took mental note that this was something even the lord of creation frowned on. That alone was all too telling about what he should be doing right now.

His eyes were sharper with his hyper focus, making it easier to pick out the battles going on nearby. When he spotted the beast that was easily resisting the lava and heat, he knew that Professor Wright was the tamer that had such a beast.

'Queen of insects- common, uncommon, rare, ultra rare, legendary

This is the queen of insects. Only ten eggs can exist at once within the world due to the incredibly unique insect energy and purity that it possesses. This queen of insects can cause insect type beasts to bow to it and follow its orders no matter what.

Every time it hatches, the queen of insects takes on a form best for it in the environment it hatches. But this is not the only thing that changes. It will hatch, grow, and take on this form within minutes. It comes at a great price from the tamer of ten years of lifespan when it is hatched.

This beast can only maintain the final adult form for a total of one hour before it perishes and leaves behind the egg it began as, awaiting to hatch again. Until this point, it is highly resistant to all energies, incredibly powerful, and able to wield many different skills and effects of insect type beasts.

This strength of such a beast is hard to fathom since its rarity and strength changes as it grows to become a legendary adult from queen of insects within this short time. There was once a rumor that a tamer of ancient times discovered a method to slow this growth and circumvent the use of tamer's lifespan.

However, this was lost to time and is thought to be within the lost dungeon of the insect king. The location of such a dungeon is…'

Clark couldn't read any more from what the system had analyzed. He felt his heart drop as he saw Professor Wright on her knees. Her hair had turned a bit gray while her body appeared weaker. She had clearly paid a high price to be able to resist the many dead cultists on the ground and on the rooftops of the sinking city.

With Crim in control, Clark flew to her and snatched up Professor Wright who was mumbling in weakness after paying her price to raise the insect queen. "Solar City is lost and so is Lunar. I Promise to let you know everything I can about your partner. But for now, let the student help the teacher." Clark's words were blunt but carried deep weight.

Hearing the familiar voice was enough for Professor Wright to smile slightly. Even though the situation was terrible, she had accepted that she could only pay this price once more if she wanted to live. She didn't expect to be now, but how could she have let so many die? She had to allow them to escape.
