Chapter 536: Clear Power
Chapter 536: Clear Power
"That is going to be trouble." Jerold saw the wolf and knew that dark wolves, or wolves in general were never alone. Especially one in an area perfect for hunting prey like the long grasses that hid things from view.
"No, Ralph has that one." Grace immediately countered what Jerold said. She had slightly puffed cheek as she only gave him a side ways glance. She knew Ralph's strength the best out of everyone since she had seen him bending metal to his will.
To prove her point, the dark world darted from ahead and aimed right for Ralph in a crazed desire to attack him and win. The following result was one that any sane beast would have fled from. Simply because of how quickly the dark wolf had been dealt with.
Ralph raised on of his axes and slashed down. He barely made a sound as he used his strength to cleave the dark wolf's head cleanly in half. After his strike, he turned the blade toward himself and examined it. "The fine sharpening is good, but the blade strength needs to be adjusted due to impurities.
Two chips came off with that." the mumbling was to himself, but Ella heard him and jotted it down for later. She was gladly taking notes like this for Ralph.
Everything that had happened in this one swift motion and instant evaluation of Ralph's blade countered what Jerold had thought. The dark wolf had come off as such a powerful beast, but had actually been nothing but a bug compared to what Ralph could do. Even the other members of their group were ignorant of just how strong their recent journeys and training had gotten them.
"They should be led by an alpha dark wolf. It should be around here somewhere and I would be willing to bet that it is not losing its mind because of the smoke that was here." Isa knew well that the alpha wolf's pelt was the most valuable. It was larger, grew tougher, and was thicker. That made it much more valuable to collectors of craftsman.
"We aren't hunting right now." Ralph ignored the desire for money from Isa. he knew that metal wasn't involved and decided to ignore everything else. He and Brad were charging forward as the ones to open a pathways for the others. They weren't here to hunt.
Even though Isa was a little annoyed hearing this, she didn't argue. Ralph was right. But as they began to move again, the group heard some commotion nearby. Multiple growls and a few terrified screams were let out too close for comfort.
As they made their move to see what was happening, they found the already mutilated body of a Lunar City resident who had a face full of terror hardened by death. The wolf standing over it was covered in blood and snarling at the group that just came out of nowhere.
"This one will fall by me." Brad took the first step and the world tried to use its claws to slash out. But the shield in Brad's hand deflected it and pushed back. The dark wolf found itself tumbling through the air after Brad's light push. It was fast and tried to adjust itself as it landed.
Yet, the dark wolf was still slow compared to Brad, the slowest of the group due to the weight he carried at all times.
With an easy stab of his sword, Brad had pierced the side of the dark wolf. It had barely understood what was happening as it felt its ribs break and its insides severed. There was only a few seconds that the wolf was able to comprehend that it had lost its life. Even the hallucinations weren't enough for it to think it was able to fight.
"We need to keep moving. This is slowing us down." Brad was certain that he was stronger. Just that one stab had been a soft attack in the grand scheme of things. He had not been able to really fight in the last dungeon or outside of training. But seeing the results now, he evaluated his own body. He knew he was able to handle a larger challenge than before.
Even though he still deemed himself somewhat weak.
"We should be better than the cultists, right?" Maria looked at Clark and saw him shrug. He wasn't going to say anything for certain. All he knew was that he and his group were much stronger than before. It made them confident where they would have been worried before. That was all that mattered.
With the speed of movement, the group heard more shouts of pain and battle. Some guards appeared to have seen the beasts approaching the city. They resisted the hallucinogenic smoke since the guards were trained to be able to resist such illusions or poisons at a low level. Even though many weaker beasts and some of the populace were affected, the guards knew their duty.
Their light blue and white uniforms stood out within the grasses. Especially compared to the many dark wolves that had appeared nearby. But with this closeness to the city, the guards had acted as they should. They had cut down a lot of the grasses while fighting.
This had created a large open area where the walls could see the guards and others approaching. It was a trick that they trained in when the city was under attack. It allowed them to be able to grasp a battle better. To survive and face the enemy more quickly.
The ability to change the terrain was an advantage that Lunar City had over Solar City. Even though Solar City had the ability to let their walls form from the lava, Lunar still boasted their ability to use their territory and strategies faster.
"Look, there is more of them now." Reese spotted the gathered wolves. It appeared that they had come together and somehow managed to get their mounds back after the smoke and mist were pushed away by Clark's use of wind.
'Alpha dark wolf- rare
The alpha dark wolf is the leader of the dark wolf packs. It has a larger size and is able to resist many more attacks while still possessing the same stealthy abilities as the dark wolf below it. With its leadership, it can boost the mentality, resistances, and attacks of the dark wolves below it. This is why a pack is more dangerous than the individuales.
They are fairly rare since the alpha wolf won't always be a true alpha wolf. Sometimes the dark wolf, more powerful than others, acts as an alpha wolf but is not truly as strong as it should be. But with the alpha title comes the fact that the dark wolves will follow them based on superiority from birth. An alpha wolf can compel a dark wolf to risk its very life…'
Clalkr could have read more in to the system's analysis of the alpha dark wolf. However, he realized that everything was more or less the same. the only addition was the ability to control the wolves. The ability to be able to boost the strengths of the dark wolves. Furthemore, the ability to lead them properly. That was what made the alpha wolf stronger.
"Now wait, there's another over there too!" Reese spotted a second one nearby. The second alpha dark wolf made things much more complicated and explained why the guards who kept their mental faculties were struggling so much without the hallucinogenic smoke around. The wolves were getting themselves back together now that they didn't have something constantly wearing on their minds.
"It's so annoying when a city puts up walls. But now that we have what we need, my lord said that your city isn't needed." The proclamation made every single alpha dark wolf shiver. Furthermore, it made every battle cease. The words held power. More than anyone had felt in a long time.
The cities should have those able to fight such a powerful force, but when Clark looked ahead at the man covered in dark robes, he knew that this was an enemy he could not fight either. Large hands with brutal white claws were clenched around the neck of an older man who had long died.
The over six foot stature of muscle under the robes proved that the man holding this corpse was holding back his strength as well.
"He has the lord!"
One guard shouting was enough to alert everyone. "That's the lord of Lunar City?" Maria whispered to Clark, but Clark was looking at the man as his body changed. This wasn't just a man. The familiar blood moon cultists' robes and symbols proved that this man was a monster.
Judging from the transformation of his body before their eyes, they all realized they were seeing a true monster that could easily steal their lives at any moment.
"Break down these walls and feast on the blood ahead of you!" The beastly roar of an order caused even dark alpha wolves and regular dark wolves to move. Regardless of their current state. They had been called by the dark werewolf to battle again.
