Chapter 535: Hallucinations

Heat and humidity didn't change. The heat that had been building up from the lava fields had drifted over to the grassy fields due to the heavy misty cover from the rain. This left the entire area, regardless of lava with this hot temperature.

However, it was the grassy fields that had suffered more. It didn't have the heat of lava to force some of the heavy mist away. Instead, it just built up making it feel like the group was swimming through the air. Even when Clark had directed the wind with the flowing storms meditation technique to remove the mixed in smoke.

"If anyone else had not been affected by the hallucinogenic smoke, then they might have gotten rid of it by now. That means that the blood moon cultists here might have the city in lockdown. And not just for a short time." Clark saw the others behind him ready to fight.

Everyone could hear the distant sounds of battle within the grasses. Even though it wasn't just the beasts in the area who were caught up in their own minds due to the smoke, they knew they would be fighting tough opponents. That was because the Lunar city guards, people, and powerful forces might also be affected in the very same ways that the beasts around the city were.

"So that's what you can do with the wind energy. Is that because Crim came from a dragon body that could make wind stronger? Or is is because you added dragon energy to the wind too?" Grace was more so looking for what Clark had done to make a large gust of wind strong enough to carry away the smoke from the air in a large area. She wasn't sure she could do something like that at all.

"It's the meditation technique, dragon energy, and Crim's origin working together. It's why I will eventually be able to secret storms of energy while I fight in the future. For now though, that's the most of it. I need some help to do it too." Clark felt that he could do better if he had time to store the energy away within himself and the taming space.

But that was going to be kept to himself for now.

"Who cares about the wind. Let's just keep moving forward. I don't want to fight any random beasts when we have to start breaking in to a city before Solar guards make their move." Ralph's thoughts were fairly tame. He was thinking ahead of what would happen if Lunar and Solar Academy cities didn't both come out of this strong enough to defend themselves.

The entire group understood what Ralph's thoughts were. If the two cities were not balanced, then they would most likely begin to fight right away. The stronger city would attack the weaker regardless of remaining cultists. Then they would take over. That was their goal overall anyways.

"I know that's the most logical outcome. However, we should first deal with the beat that is here." Ella raised her hand and the earth prince made her a saber from the ground beneath their feet. She had been working on this skill for some time.

In a split second, Ella slashed out copying the techniques that Maria, Isa, and Grace all trained together with. A small squeal escaped from the grass in front of her. She had seen the oddly darker shape hiding there waiting to pounce on them.

'Shadow weasel- uncommon

Enjoying the longer grasses of vast fields or plains, the shadow weasel will use the grasses to hide in and ambush anything alive. While they are smaller and weaker, they have a powerful sedative within their saliva. This is from many years of eating specific herbs within the fields.

Once they claim their prey, they will chew off parts of it and bury it under clumps of plants. If they remember where it is, they will eat it later. If they do now, they will facilitate the growth of unique grasses.

They lack the potential to be able to grow in to ulterior forms, they are roughly related to other weasel species of similar size and shape that live in a wide variety of different environments. This has started a small research movement to discover the original ancestor of their species as a whole.

The dark type that they weasel possesses allows them to better hide within the shadows. However, some have an interesting dual water and darkness typing which allows them to survive in the fields better. This specific environment often has dense mists. It is why there are some shadow illusion weasels around.'

Clark used the analysis of the system and felt like he had learned a lot. The shadow weasel may have been a darkness beast that used those skills to blend in. However, it was related to many different weasel like beasts that had different types of energy usage. Specifically, one that lived in the very same area that had a water and darkness affinity.

That weasel would be able to use shadows and the mists that naturally existed here to make illusions. Exactly why these tall grasses were dangerous in the night. The perfect time to create a powerful illusion of shadows and mist that would scare, distract, and however else the weasel needed it to do to be able to hunt prey.

"There will be more of those around. It's the perfect time for them to be out since the sun is starting to set. We might have just rested, but we aren't following the sun much." Reese had a feeling he was speaking the right words as he looked at the horizon. It might have been bright enough now, but it definitely wouldn't be in a little while.

The fact that the weasel had attacked them right there proved that some beasts hadn't been hallucinating either. This was both a good and bad thing. "I can try to deter more beasts. If Crim lets more dragon energy out, it will scare them. But it might make some crazed beasts head our way. And warn cultists we are near." Clark knew that this was a bad choice to make so he sighed a little after he spoke.

"Then we don't use it. We just plow through." Ralph started to push forward. Brad appeared to be in the same mentality as he was charging ahead toward Lunar City with the same pace. It was only natural that the molten boar was charging forward as well.

The dragon welp couldn't do much since it finally had gone in to the taming space that Ralph used and it was going to be adjusting to its new role as a beast tamed by someone.

The speed that they charged forward wasn't necessarily fast because of the weight that they all held. These were the toughest people in the group when it came to defenses. That came from Brad's armor and Ralph's training in the forge. However, it also proved to be a pretty great way to go about things.

The charging ferocity made the smaller beasts like the shadow weasel retreat. Even some of those smaller beasts that were hallucinating saw this as a more fearful encounter and lost their will to fight. Instead, they fled.

"Maria, arrows." Clark called out as a shadow darted toward the molten boar. It was sure that the molten boar could charge and trample whatever it was, but taking it out was better since it wouldn't slow the group. Maria just had the best shot with a bow.

In one fluid motion, while maintaining her running pace, Maria notched an arrow and let it fly. The small thud that came with hitting her target was enough to make everyone notice that this was a different beast.

'Dark wolf- rare

The dark wolf normally lives far from cities or any other settlement of intelligent beasts. They are able to hide in forests and long grasses while hunting in packs. It is rare to see a single one because of this.

When a single one is seen, it normally means that something is wrong with it. It was either exiled by the pack or it is currently under the influence of another beast. This dark wolf is currently under the influence of hallucinations that make it feel as if it is fighting another pack of dark wolves.

They are able to use the dark energy to create a decaying effect from their bites. They also blend in perfectly with shadows or the dark of the night. Furthermore, they boast perfect night vision and higher sense of smell. They are considered the hardest beast to face as an individual or a small group due to their pack tactics.

Clark didn't have time to worry about this any more than he did before. He heard the growls from the distance and know that an entire pack of dark wolves had been lured to the area and was currently under the effect of the hallucinogenic smoke.
