Chapter 522: How Can You?
Chapter 522: How Can You?
The youngest of the elves had finally broken and spoken out loud. It was already clear that Clark could see the others were guards. They had already moved in to a more protective formation.
"Then why is it that I think you will have a smoldering golem, or a rogue golem as you call it?" Clark looked at her the same way that anyone would look at a child. In elven terms, this girl would be the same as the youngest that would enter a human academy. But she was still slightly younger by comparison. This must be her first beast other than a spirit beast.
"The process is not known by humans. You have clearly been watching us for longer than you admit-"
"No, I have barely even seen you. I was more interested in the resting golems here than anything else. But then I noticed some energies in the air and with a unique skill of mine… well, I know the results of what you will make here. A smoldering golem." Clark completely interrupted the older elf that was acting as the leader of the guards.
This action made the youngest elf angrier. Being younger, she had a harder time keeping her calm. But the elves were still very calm and analytical to begin with. The one that he had interrupted had already spotted the way that Clark hesitated when he looked at the other guards.
"You have a unique skill to do with your eyes. Should we call them elemental eyes or something else? Regardless, his words might be slightly true." The caption of these guards seemed to be the most able to understand Clark to some degree. Even if it was slightly misguided in how he was able to exactly know of what might happen.
There was also a slight hint that the guard captain was a little more important compared to the other elves who were still just waiting for their orders to attack or defend. Even if they had to retreat, these were trained guards that had brought in a higher figure to create a unique golem.
"I would recommend strengthening your very weak fire affinity before trying anything else like this again. You can gather the applicable fire and earth materials here. We all know that plenty of people have already done that. Some humans came here and fought beasts or maybe they fight you. I don't care either way, but they left with some materials and that's that."
The slight uncaring undertone in Clark's words were enough to prod at the younger elf again. She felt that Clark was making this entire unique dungeon out to be some small little place. "I can create what I desire and you can not stop me or my guards. It is foolish to believe that one weaker human tamer can-"
"That's where you have the issue. You think I am a weak human tamer because I am both younger and alone. But I did say I was a dragon tamer." Clark allowed Crim to leave the armor form. His body felt the added heat because Crim was not directly guarding him.
However, the change of a slime form taking on a more solid young dragon form made every single elven guard's bow focus on Crim. But they had never seen the core. They had not expected to see a slime dragon changing forms right then and there. To further prove this strength, Crim allowed dragon energy to seep out as he growled slightly.
Just enough to show that he was being kind and holding back from completely overwhelming them.
Normally, such a group would not be intimidated by a very young dragon tamer. Unfortunately, this was very far from normal. Nothing that Clark did was considered normal. Nothing that happened with any beast related to Clark was normal. The very fact that Clark was being nice and not fighting right now was just because he wanted more information and he was being nice.
All of this was pushed home to the elves who realized that they were not meeting their match. The earth arrows they made would easily be resisted by Clark and the strength he had now. The deep earth golems had already been seen though, they could tell that Clark was not stressed at all by their presence.
"Our young miss is very dedicated to the formation of a magma golem now. There is not another choice. We are more than willing to go the distance to ensure that happens." With their guard captain's approval, every elven guard prepared to fight while the younger elf realized that she would be left alone to complete her goal then return home.
"Who said I was going to attack you? I just don't want you to make a smoldering golem. I want to destroy that possibility entirely. So, show me what you're making." Having jaws drop was not abnormal to Clark, but for the elves, it was. People rarely surprised them like this.
The elven world was one of calm and elegance. One with varying political strategies instead of battle. That Was just how they worked. They had one kingdom that spanned their entire known world. That was their reality. For someone to just say, hey, I want to fix this, was ridiculous.
That never happened and always came at a cost or a price.
"I doubt there is anything we have that you desire. As a human that is." the captain of the guards looked at Clark. She knew from stories what humans thought of elves. That the elves that were summoned as spirit beasts were often coveted. That the elves that had come to the human lands to set up an embassy village through a permanent dungeon had met certain trials.
Whether it was the elves that were captured and dragged to powerful cities or people, or the elves that were pushed to join families. It was all the same. The humans had some fantastical ideas about the way elves looked and their strength when it came to nature and channeling energies with their bodies. That was why there were many rules about the races interacting.
Why the elves moved with many guards and golems.
"Price? It will be paid in another way. Not by any of you. As long as a smoldering golem is destroyed. Well, the possibility of it existing is destroyed, then I will be fine." Clark partially picked up what the elves were thinking. It wasn't hard when he saw the male and female elven guards replicating the slightly disgusted look he had given the powerful corrupted families when he saw them.
"So? Show me the way." Clark took a few steps towards the trial the elves had made leading upwards to the pique of the mountain. The volcanic mountain that was being held back by whatever the elves had started doing.
There was a flurry of whispering as Clark took the lead. He could tell the elves were not prepared for a battle. Their deep earth golems had weaknesses and they were at a disadvantage since they didn't know what the hidden beast could do compared to the dragon. A dangerous person had appeared and somehow promised to help them. Who would trust such a thing?
But the facts were that Clark was able to see more than they expected. That he was already walking toward where they were working. And that he had a dragon and another mysterious beast with him. There were too many unknowns to fight. Too many unknowns to run. So, what else was there to do other than to move ahead with him?
Finally hearing the elves moving behind him relaxed Clark a little, but he let Devi add a few hidden laughs in here and there to ensure that the elves didn't get any smart ideas like raising their earthen bows at him. It was safer to be a little on edge like this.
The heat was growing much more, therefore, Clark had Crim take the place as his armor again. The wings folded easily behind him before eventually melding back together to become a denser protection.
Clark had been impressed with Crim's growth since he was better able to cover Clark's entire torso and even partially covering his neck and slowly moving down his hips. It was proof that Crim had grown and was able to protect him better. But also that it was one step closer to being a skill that could fully guard Clark in battle.
"This is… this is the ritual site." Clark heard the slightly nervous voice of the younger elf with the guards. She was sure that he would not understand what he was seeing and had to speak up. But from what Clark saw, he knew there were many things wrong.
"First of all, you are making a massive mistake by even coming to a volcanic place. Second, you have the wrong golem to make using your spirit beast. Third, how can you handle the pain of this? It must hurt you and your spirit beast to do this." Silence was all that existed around them as Clark had already looked at what he found.
