Chapter 521: Elven Camp

Chapter 521: Elven Camp

The natural earth bridge created by breaking rocks in the mountain was slightly unstable. But it was made even more so after whatever battle had happened here. The only thing that was for sure was that Clark had managed to use it to cross over to the other side of the mountain without any trouble.

Now that he had managed to make it closer to the slumbering deep earth golems, he could see the features of a normal golem. The rough club like hands and the slightly defined faces proved that these golems were still golems even though they were created beasts.

It was an odd concept to think of people creating beasts, but it was not impossible. Even going to Terra had proved that there were some beasts there made of metal created by humans. It was just very uncommon for such beasts to be made.

The part that stuck out here was that the beasts made by those here were elves. They were earth elves based on the analysis of the system and those earth elves were trying to raise an even more powerful golem. For some reason though, the system had given him a quest. Not the system, but the one that made the system. Existence had offered a challenge to defeat the golem to prove himself.

The sudden sound of voices all around Clark made him look for a place to hide, but the only places were around the deep earth golems slumbering here. That proved to be a fruitless though as the golems started to shiver and rise. Clark had managed to show up just as the earth elves had returned here to their golems.

It was then that the signs of a campsite came to view just beyond the first few golems. There were packs hidden around the rocks that would have been to set up tents and other things. Without a second to think, Clark made a simple decision.

He moved to sit down on a rock right where the camp would be set up.

His calm sitting position looked easily like he was meditating. The flow of energies around him even proved that this was the case. Even as the golems regained the proper standing form, Clark didn't flinch. The voices he had heard only became harder to comprehend as they spoke another language.

But to Clark's joy, the voices became clear as the system worked its magic and made it so he understood every word.

As the voices suddenly ceased and multiple bows were drawn, Clark finally looked up with a slight smile. "I figured you would be back here sooner than later. I came to say hello." His calm voice and smiling demeanor was not enough to put off the tall figures all around him.

The elves really lived up to the fantasy ideals that Clark had read and heard about. Slender figures with more height than most humans. Longer hair that matched the color of their innate affinities. Sharp ears and eyes that focused on the slightest sound of the nature they were immersed in. and most of all, the bows made of earth with arrows made of earth. A perfect show of why they were earth elves.

"I get you might find me scary, but I am just a wandering dragon tamer here for materials. If you could do me a favor and not send a few of those arrows at me, then we can get along." Clark had gained some confidence seeing that he was faced with an enemy he could handle. He had used the system to analyze these elves out of an attempt for more information.

'Earth elf- no applicable rank

This is an earth elf, this elf is in no way able to be tamed due to their higher intelligence. Tamed elves are normally the elves too weak to be able to gain intelligence without a proper bond between themselves and a tamer. Their energy anatomy would function entirely differently than a normal elf.

This is an elf adept in using earth nature magic. It is natural for them to be able to manipulate these energies with specific skills often passed down by their race. Most older elves will have more advanced skills that they develop themselves while studying in seclusion. Some elves do not need a beast to boost their strength and will never take one that is not born to them.

This is a very young elf of only ninety years. The elves can often live to be five hundred years old. Especially if they live within the vicinity of a world tree which is a tree that can only grow on their home world due to the unique energy it possesses. It even has the potential to be a beast if the right requirements are met…'

This told Clark a lot. He knew that the earth elves had come here to make a certain golem. He knew that they were able to use earth elemental skills because of what they were as a race. And he knew that these elves were younger and definitely not able to compete with his strength just yet.

"I understand that finding a stranger in your camp is a worrisome thing. That's fine, but can you ease off for now? If you keep sitting there ready to kill me it might annoy me." Clark sent Devi a silent prompt to make his presence known. Not by much though.

The sudden laughter that chilled the elves to the bone even though they were within a very heated environment was enough to make them turn and look for the source. But Devi was invisible to their senses. If they were air elves or spiritual elves, then they might have had a chance to pick up on Devi's location. Unfortunately , they were not and they could not find the source of the laughter.

"That should be enough." Clark stood up holding his black lightning spear. It was an intimidating stance to take before he held out a hand. "My name is Clark and I am a human trying to solve a few problems. Why not tell me what all of you young elves are doing here? You should be in some sort of academy or learning too, right?"

This was enough to make one elve that had more ornate brown armor turn her head and focus on him. Clark had just shown that he more than knew enough to understand their situation. That he had already figured them out to a larger degree than the elves had expected.

"Arms down." The elf looked at Clark with sharper and sharper glares before she relaxed again. "You are not a known ally to my people. What do you want." it was clear that the elf knew herself and her team to be in a precarious situation.

"Well, I originally came looking for dragon related materials. A new dungeon that crosses multiple worlds? That's a great chance. But now, I know that the elves here are trying to raise a unique beast and that the dwarves fought with the elves for a space to forge something. Sound interesting enough for someone to look in to?"

"But that's not just it. I want to hunt around a little to find something good to take home. This place is a volcanic dungeon that used to be home to dragons before it was split off from the world it was part of. So, it is worth looking here and there before it disappears in a few days." showing this little bit was enough to make all the earth elves even more uncomfortable.

Knowing that a dungeon would disappear was a massive piece of information. The elves were able to have an elder of their race commune with nature and sense these things. What Clark had just proved was that there were humans that could do the same. It meant that they were dealing with people stronger than they understood at the moment.

"You know quite a bit. I underestimated what you may be here for. I should assume that you have your other reasons for waiting here?" The deep earth golems backed off as a show of peace. The earth elves appeared to prefer a peaceful solution than to fight it out here. This made it easier than what Clark had expected.

"Well, in that case, I would prefer that you gave up on creating a smoldering golem. It will not do any of you any good. Especially since your fire affinity is way too low. And not you, I mean her. The youngest out of all of you." The male elves all moved to guard the shortest of the elves that had come. The one that they had all been looking at instinctually.

The exact thing that any guard does when guarding someone important.

"What? I won't attack her. I just ask that you don't make a beast that you can not handle. When you fail it will cause some problems here." Clark pretended to still understand what he was talking about. But his lack of knowledge when it came to what a smoldering golem was and what the elves were trying to raise proved clear here.

"I don't want a rogue golem. I want a proper magma golem!"
