Chapter 494: Slightly Busy
Chapter 494: Slightly Busy
The sudden change of pace from running away due to the growing water to following a man on a giant silverfish was odd. All three of them were struggling to rationalize the massive change in energy. It was only natural though, anyone would be thrown for a bit of a loop when they had a dramatic change like that.
When they had been brought back properly to Terra City, Purple immediately saw that there was more happening. "It appears that there are multiple teams out patrolling now." Purple pointed out the groups returning with merchants, by themselves, or with others rescued just like them.
" Then the storm really is a little larger than we might have thought. I'm glad we started to leave when we did. If we hadn't then we wouldn't be here." Maria breathed easily knowing they were safe.
"I just wonder how there was a beast that caused an entire storm to shift. Those kinds of beasts are normally quiet unless there's a fight or something. But if that happened then someone would go to handle it." Clark had a good point. His mind was turning constantly.
The strongest of every city or of humanity were known for going out in to the world and fighting brutal beasts that no one else could handle. They were responsible for removing these threats. Yet, one had just changed the path of a storm and no one was saying anything. It seemed that the gossip was only about it happening.
"We should head and find Isa. I bet that she has a line on some good gossip." Maria thought that this was the best option.
"It appears we were only gone for four days instead of a week which was what we thought may happen. That should allow us more room to be flexible." Since Purple had assumed they would be searching for some time, he noted the date posted nearby when he saw it. The deeper caves weren't influenced by the underground changing of light in the city. Therefore, time was somewhat harder to grasp.
"Four days is four days though, we checked a lot of pools and spent our time in one spot. Getting there must have been little to none of the time. But we also moved slower to avoid any beasts that we might not be able to fight." Since Clark had been the one leading most of the time, he was sure that his slower style of movement was the reason they spent more time.
But it was safer that way and he had good analysis information about beasts to show for it.
Naturally, Terra city was very busy. Many people were rushing around. It seemed that during storms like this there were many protocols. Rock walls had been raised around the city while those with flying beasts were checking the ceilings of the massive cave that was reinforced for the city to exist in.
There were also many merchants moving around selling things that might be important. Some sold water proofing materials while others sold things that would absorb moisture from the air. All of these things were precautions that people had to take due to living in a place without the sun. Molds were a risk here. Not to mention illnesses from leaving something unclean and exposed to these conditions.
"There you three are. We have to leave the academy and stop training since the students were assigned small jobs around the coyote. It has been a pain here." Reese was blunt, but it seemed that he had been watching for when Clark, Maria, and Purple would return.
"We left as soon as water was showing up in the deeper tunnels. If we stayed there the massive cave would have been our grave." Clark shook his head but smirked a little knowing that Reese was relaxed enough to joke around about this. "I bet you have been sitting here watching the chaos of the city and not even worrying about us."
Maria just shook her head watching the two boys acting oddly. She couldn't keep up with whatever was going through their heads. Not that she was trying. "Grace, Isa, Ella!" Maria shouted and heard replies so she moved toward their room. The inn seemed to be more empty because of some merchants leaving to the surface due to the storm.
They wanted to make sure they were somewhere closer to their goods and had to check their supply trails.
"I will leave after I hear what might be happening."Purple was itching to get back to his own family. However, he saw the value that came with Isa and her connections to merchants. Purple lacked that skill and was naturally impressed by it.
"Then it's a good thing I have already put an ear out there." Isa had heard exactly what Purple said as they entered the room. She ignored Clark and Reese messing around and had only kept her attention on the important things.
"A few merchants said they saw two typhoon eagles fighting. That's crazy, right? They usually live closer to the ocean or in the sky above the oceans. But a mountain nearby was once a nest for typhoon eagles so they came back to nest!" The rumors had flowed here and there. Isa just had to find the right ones to build the full puzzle.
"So those two merchants ran here for shelter since they thought that the mountain might crumble or they might get caught up as food. But really, they just saw a storm getting pushed this way by accident.
It's all natural I guess but it will make a lot of things more valuable here and around other cities." Since Isa had seen the value in goods naturally in Terra City, she could make estimates about what would increase and by how much.
"I should guess that you already made some moves?" Clark returned himself to the conversation and saw a wicked smile on Isa's face. It told him everything he needed to know. "Well, that's that then. Two powerful beasts fighting over a nest. Isa made a lot of gold. Npw we need to find some place to train until we can leave.
Oh, and Maria will be hatching a new beast egg so we need…"
Isa's face slowly changed as she realized just how much money the hatching process and growth process for Maria's new beast would cost. Her glares at Clark as he kept going on and how Ella had begun to record it all in to a journal could burn a hole in his head.
"So you did find one? I wasn't sure if you would have the luck or if we would need to find a better place to buy one. Or even the next place we went." Grace had been talking to Maria but found her holding the very small egg within some water. She was surprised how tiny it was. But Maria had fully described what she would do to help it grow too.
"It's going to be my alchemy partner. Lit will help me heal and fight, this little one will hatch and help me make us potions, then my shadow will keep me covered everywhere I go." Hearing Maria praise its job again, the midnight eel shifted. It had been very happy to be out in the deep caves and ballet the rocky mites. It felt that it had properly shown its strengths to protect Maria.
"It will be a longer process than you all think, but it could hatch in about a week following the plans Ella is recording. So let's start it up soon." Isa just shook her head knowing that she had to give up the riches she had just procured. Now she would be going back out to purchase and flip more items. The price of everything seemed to just be going up.
"Thank you for the information. I see that you will be busy. Come and train at my home if you need the space. I expect that we can make advances in the next few days." Purple saw that the conversation was going to run on forever. He also had his own reasons to leave.
"I will come your way after we rest a little. It doesn't feel like we are tired but we definitely are. It's just not setting in yet." Clark said this to make sure that Purple rested. He wanted to have a well rested training partner. The more rest they all got the better it would be for pushing their minds and bodies to the limit.
Especially since Clark felt that he was in a good potion to make a step forward. It wasn't just that he had ten gotcha tickets to roll either.
'Flash quest- flooding tunnels- completed
Requirement: escape the flooding tunnels before the water surge appears.
Reward: ten gotcha tickets.'
Clark could only look at the small flash quest and be thankful for the help from the rescue team. It had sped up their escape from the water and guaranteed that he would have some additional rewards. They could be perfect for training. He just had to let the system do its work.
