Chapter 453: Conflicting Thorns

Intertwining white and red vines began showing themselves from Leo's taming space. They had crystal like thorns that radiated a deep frosty white cold and a deep scarlet red fire energy. It was a unique appearance as the thorns seemed to intertwine and take a somewhat snake like shape. However, Clark knew that the form the thorns took were just around their center.

It would guard its roots well just like the living thorns before it changed.

'Conflicting thorns of ice and flames- legendary

This species was once known as the thorns that wrapped the world. A mythical beast grew them to protect its castle walls along the border of a tundra and a volcano. Their strength is considered one of the most versatile attacking and defensive beasts that exists when it takes up an unmoving position.

The cold frost energy is unique since it can be used to forcefully condense large walls of ice and use its thorns to inflict powerful frostbite that will spread with time. It is not necessarily a poison but it is very close to being one. It costs a large amount of ice type energy to nurture the ice half of this beast.

The brilliant fire energy is unique since it is able to leave burns along the body of an opponent. These burns are considered unhealable by basic healing because of their high degree of energy contained in them. The thorns that contain these energies are best for attacking and causing dramatic changes in small areas when releasing large bursts of heat.

This side of the beast requires high amounts of fire type energy to grow.

The dual nature of this beast comes at a high cost but the tamer that is bonded with it will be able to both strengthen their body and their mind by understanding and accepting the dual nature. Upon doing so, multiple unique skills can be trained and learned that utilize a conflicting set of attacks and defenses.

Clark carefully explained some of the details to Leo. While he kept out the fact that this was a legendary existence, he made sure to iterate that his partner could grow to a larger form that was much more powerful. It may never change in its species again, but that it can grow. It would also cost him a great deal of resources to make it happen.

Yet, Clark ensured that he put a large focus on the fact that the dual nature of his beast was also deadly. If it went out of control, that it would cause untold damage. Therefore, feeding it at the same time with both energy types of equal strength was important. Also that it would most likely have a slightly different effect in the living vine armor form that is still had.

The reason that Clark worried about this was because the typing changed. If it had conflicting energy types already, then it would definitely cause some trouble when it came to a form that brought it right against its' tamer's body. But Leo appeared to listen carefully and was going to first understand the changes before attempting anything.

"So my partner is many times stronger because of the energies that were used to attack me. All because my so called sister is friends with a '" runt piece of trash that should have just gone to die instead of make more trouble.'" I really hate that arrogant brat. But I didn't stand down when he tried to pick a fight. This was a long time coming. But he did ambush me when we were leaving.

From what Leo said, the Mourne family eldest had deliberately been trying to Fight him and others. But the dungeon had just presented the best place. "Maria isn't a member of his family any more. She was named one of her own by two generals. She is Maria Spirit now. Her very own head of family.

I will make sure that the Mpourne family knows that soon. We are training for one year. We are heading to Terra Academy next to train our bodies. It might be good for you to come too."

Ella was looking at what Leo did when Clark responded. She wanted to see him go with their group because that would be the best way for him to adapt to the new and conflicting energies flowing through his body. "You might be right. I can tell that Ella wants me to say yes. So, I will head your way. But we shouldn't just run through the wilderness.

Let me use some of my connections and call in a favor. We should get there a little faster that way."

While Clark and Ella wanted answers, Leo ignored the questions and pushed on to another topic. "And what about your decisions? Ella, why do you want to fight the Mourne family? It's not just me, is it?" This was something that Clark had partially expected. He knew that any family would care about one another to some degree. Leo had just been holding it back for the moment.

"They are my friends and they helped me everywhere. I need to stick by them too." The simple answer that came from Ella was pure and easy to understand. She didn't care about much. Her research had been fruitless and just data gathering. Suddenly, she had people behind her that pushed it the extra step. produced results and opened her eyes to a vast world of potential.

She had seen something awe inspiring because of those around her. She didn't care what anyone said. She trusted them and she knew she could help them too.

"Good, so who would you say helped you the most?" This questions seemed the most serious that Leo had asked. But for some reason, Clark was feeling pretty uneasy about it all.

"Clark's unique skills have been able to help me gain better insights on beast growth as a whole. He is able to find materials hidden in plain sight and show us what they can do. I would say he has been the catalyst for our entire group growing." While it was true, Clark felt that this was a bit too much for him. He had his own selfish goals. He wasn't a saint.

"Perfect, So, You can marry Clark then. That will make Mom and Dad pretty happy." Clark and Ella both nearly dropped to the floor. Leo was too casual and too calm about what he said.

"That is not logical in the least! We are not in such a position and I am still greatly research focused. I have not considered any such relationship with a single person." Ella's response was fair.

"Yeah yeah yeah, but you said he helped you the most and he's probably stronger than I realize. So, pick him. He also isn't from a family trying to force mom to forge things for them. And he won't cause us trouble. Plus, he wants to take down the Mourne family because they literally cause everyone below their strength to suffer. A pretty good guy.

But hey, you figure that out. I approve as your older brother, I will head out of here and send a letter to handle my side of things." Leo stood up and stretched which seemed to be a little rough on him still. But he walked right out of the room leaving silence in his wake.

"My brother is clearly not in his right mind. I will leave and have the healers deal with it. Please forget that he was so foolish. He has all the brains of a rock while I managed to steal them when I was born." Ella was clearly ruffled but Clark realized that this was actually a pretty funny situation. Ella the logical genius and Leo the muscle heavy older brother. A hysterical combination.

While Clark hesitated for a moment, he noticed that the group would have another interesting event. While he was sure that Leo would run off on his own, which seemed to be his style when it came to training, he knew that the group would be able to get stronger. Many people knew of them already and promises to go to other academies had been made.

It felt odd to do this since they should be Nova Academy students, yet, that was just where they started.

When the group returned to Nova Academy then they would be able to truly be Nova Academy students. For this point in time, they would be roaming students of every academy they had grown connected with.

"Hmm, after we head to Terra maybe we should head to Lunar Academy and help them handle Solar Academy," Clark mumbled to himself whatever came to mind while he left the room and headed toward where he knew the rest of the group would be meeting up shortly.
