Chapter 454: The Favor

"This is much too soon to leave! I can show you so much more when it comes to the art of healing. We also need someone to facilitate the growth of these glow sting jellyfish. What if we can not do it with the materials we have? Then there are the dungeon beasts, they are still higher in number on the third floor. We can't just ignore that!" Pia was doing her best to keep the group around.

However, Maria had taken the role of speaking with her.

"I understand that, but the growth plans we left for you are extremely detailed. More detailed than any other beast growth plan you could purchase. We pride ourselves on that. I also know that you receive multiple deliveries. With improved beasts, you can gain more funding." Maria was sure that the white robed healers would boom in strength within the next month.

"I have the books, diagrams, and some tools you gave me. That will be enough to continue my healing education until I can begin mixing alchemy in to it. Clark already gave me a little knowledge about it as well." Maria knew that Clark had grasped some alchemy but it was more of a formula following way and less of a working knowledge.

"The third floor was a little regrettable, but it is now the ideal place to train your healers. It is also a place where very rare herbs grow that you didn't even know about. It was unfortunate to introduce a danger there, but you hired our guards to watch it so you should be safe. Now, Leo has called for special transportation for us. We will be leaving today." Maria was firm but kind.

She still thanked Pia for the help and made sure to show that she was in no way ungrateful for the knowledge she now had.

Meanwhile, the rest of the group had gathered in the largest open space. The steam apes had wondered why so many had gathered in one place and watched from their hot spring pools. They did the same with the healers but this group was different. A few of them had seen the group training and running around. A very entertaining change for the steam apes that always saw the same things in the camp.

"It should be here soon. I called in a favor that I managed to gain when it came to all that trouble with the blood moon cult. A few of the Terra Academy merchant students had come through where I was running for a safe house.

Not that I wasn't going to fight, but there were a lot of people that needed defending on that road." Leo was casually talking about how he had jumped in to guard an entire flow of people to a safe area while waiting for guards. It was only to be expected with his age and strength. He was a fourth year, a senior to them and nearly a real adult.

"Basically, one of those weird monster cult member things tried to sing its fangs in to a group of first years from Terra. Apparently their parents are a big deal around there and said if I needed anything to let them know. So, I sent one of those lightning flash sparrows with a letter. I really with lightning flash sparrows were more common. They deliver mail so fast." Leo again was too casual.

The lightning flash sparrow was a very rare lightning type beast that normally hid itself. If a tamer managed to get one, they could use it for some of the fastest communication there was. Of course, the white robed healers also used one to communicate between their camps. How else could they keep themselves so well put together?

But for Leo to use it too was amazing since it was hard to afford such a thing.

"We should feel it coming in-" Leo looked down at the ground and made everyone step back. Right before them, a hole the size of three people burst open showing off the gray tough shell of something.

'Tough rolly polly- rare

The rolly polly is a species of earth and insect beast known for consuming rotting wood. It is very good at digging through the ground and will travel very far without any tiredness since it does not need much energy to live. It is blind due to the fact that it likes to live underground and peacefully feast on rotting wood.

While it lacks almost all attack power, it has a great defensive and digging speed. This allows them to become the most used and popular form of transportation and tunnel digging beasts within the Terra City and the miners that live there.

This rolly polly has grown using specific earth materials to strengthen its shell and give it the ability to even carve in to some smaller mountains. It can also carry much more weight than others earthing the title of tough to its name. Many tamers would look at this beast with jealousy in Terra City.

"Hello there, thank you for your patience. I am the escort sent to retrieve those wishing to safely travel to Terra City. Again, the Ravine family thanks you for your kindness and your courage. They hope you can visit them for a meal and to thank you again.' The polite older man made the group very comfortable.

It was very clear that he had done work like this for a long time and he was in no way out to cause harm. "Please do not worry, we will fill the hole here on the way out. We also avoided the underground flowing hot water and steam. It would be foolish to break them open."

The man's laughter made the entire group wonder just how skilled he was. But it was only a small moment later that Professor Wright showed herself. "Well, you are all moving much faster than I thought. I expected you to be here another week. But it seems you want to spend more time in the cities that you made connections with.

It's a smart decision." No one had openly told Professor Wright their plans, yet, it looked like she was not surprised at all.

"I know you had your assassin beetle watching me. I thought you would have heard the plan. We need to go somewhere known for strengthening the body. That's Terra Academy and Terra City. The best place for us to go now."

"Right you are young man. I am glad the Nova Academy first year team that everyone talks about is so smart. You know, I was sending my spirit to the stadium set up for those battles. I may have been working, but I am sure you got an extra challenge when I rooted for those kids to win too." The man laughed a little more while speaking to Clark.

For a first impression, the people from Terra City were very well mannered and happy.

"Come on, let's get this place moving. The others here look a little unhappy we barged in." The man patted the large tough rolly polly and the group had no reason not to hop on. The special favor that Leo called in was pretty damn good. Or at least that's what everyone was thinking.

The speed that the rolly polly started to dig through the ground was back breaking. But not even a single piece of earth landed near any of them. From what Clark saw, the skills related to earth manipulation and digging that the rolly polly had prevented any earth from falling near it and then caused the earth to reform behind it.

The movements were hard to follow but they all sensed that they were being brought forward extremely quickly.

As it wasn't normal for such speed to be possible, Clark managed to start looking at the older man. He saw that there were multiple pieces of rune carved equipment that boosted the draw of earth energy toward him and his beast hidden under a brown cloak. This was definitely a reason for increased speed. It also brought about the question why terra city never used tunnels to attack others.

But when it came to this question, Clark realized that it was mostly for a single reason, Terra city was not a violent war fairing city. They focussed on the development of their forging, mining, and bodies. While they could fight other cities, that was not their goal. They preferred to grow alone and relate to the other cities as need be.

And since they focused on the underground, they rarely came to fighting with other cities because the other cities preferred the land above and not below.

It was impressive that such a beast had managed to bring the man to the camp from the more southern side of things in nearly a day, but while they moved, the entire group could believe how possible it was. Especially when they broke in to a section of caves and the scuttling movement of the rolly polly increased by many times over.

The natural caves were perfect for such a beast to move and navigate. It was a sixth sense since it was a beast that lived in the dimly lit and dark caves since it was born. It was home.
