Spirit Taming

Chapter 381: Growing Beasts

Chapter 381: Growing Beasts

The dedication to their forms of training had taken off. Clark was the only one who appeared to be doing absolutely nothing. But those who had known him and knew exactly where he stood with his taming space would understand that he was currently attempting to understand his taming space and body's use of energy better.

From what Clark could see, the taming space he had opened had expanded. Edens end taming space was still stuck where it sat. there were no new areas available to him other than the ones he had before. This was a little disappointing.

The quest had come a very long time ago at this point. To fully open the eden's end taming space would mean that Clark would be much more powerful than he had been before. As proof of this, he had opened a part of it to show the bone forest. This was where Shy had hatched and rested. It was her favorite place.

But to say that there had been no change would be a latent lie. The skeletal forest that Shy adored and had hatched in was actually growing. While the bone white trees had remained the same size, there was abundant shadow energy around due to the shadow crystals that Clark had stocked up on. Isa had been sure to purchase as many as she could get her hands on.

As a result, small cherry blossoms had appeared on the skeletal trees. But these weren't the average cherry blossom seen in any fancy garden. The normal pink or purple hues they would come in were replaced with a deep black color.

This deep black color seemed to shift with the changes in the taming space. While there was not wind, there was always the adjustment of energy. When Shy reached out a tendril of shadow strings toward one, it would bloom proving that it was literally made of shadow type energy. They were shadow cherry blossoms. Beautiful and mysterious.

For every single one of these shadow cherry blossoms that Shy touched, she would rapidly absorb the energy that made them. It was as if the shadow energy had been perfectly purified to be ideal for her to absorb and strengthen herself. Since Shy had just rested for some time after using too much energy, this was even better.

Instead of just replenishing her energy, Shy had greatly expanded her energy reserves. This proved that it was best for Shy to be out and about using her energy constantly. That way she would be able to grow much faster. She always wanted to be outside the taming space to see the world but that had just been a way for her to use her energy better and grow faster. Clark had just missed this fact.

When Clark shifted his attention to the cemetery within the edens end taming space, he was able to find Devi and Crim. Crim had been resting a lot. This was because he had used his flame breath in a new way. The rotting effect it had was ideal when necessary but when using it he was consuming a lot of energy.

What truly had caught on Crim's mind when using this attack though, had been the nature of where he came from. Clark had learned a lot about the storm dragon that Crim had come from. The bloodline that had been deep within the bones of the powerful dragon that allowed Crim to come in to existence as a slime dragon egg.

Because of this, Crim had a hidden typing. Instead of just undead and dragon energy, there was more. Fire, water, wind, and even lightning were all buried within him. These affinities were unheard of when appearing within one beast. But if a dragon could harness some of them to make itself a paper dragon that stood above all others, then why couldn't Crim one day grow to hold even more energy typing?

This one though would stump many people. There were researchers who would call this insane. Impossible. A dream that could never be because it would destroy the beast. However, they had never imagined that a dragon slime would attempt it. A slime that could regenerate its body because all it had to worry about was strengthening a core instead of the entire body.

While this meant that Crim might lose its entire body in battle, Clark could always hide away the core and bring Crim back to perfect strength. This was an advantage for Crim as a slime. The real question would be, Can Clark find materials so that Crim could wield strong enough dragon type energy to be able to use other energies?

The key to dragons and their strength was in their unique kind of energy. Yes, dragon energy appeared in many places. Herbs were one notable place to find it. But the reason being was not because they were somehow related to dragons. But the theory was that the dragons and their energy was closer to the core energy of the world or existence itself. But that was still to be proven.

In the moment, Clark was amazed that crim had taken up a habit of splitting the dragon lilies and bringing them throughout the taming space. Many small spots had them growing. There were even many flowering bunches now. Enough for Clark to harvest if he wanted. But even more to help Crim grow.

Lastly, Clark was checking on Devi who had fought the most. He had used his invisibility, chilling laughter, spirit drive, claw attacks, and just in general a ton of energy while battling the fallen dryad and the tamer that had become one with it. Overall, it had been a massive endeavor when it came to devi's energy.

What had come with it was a clear cut understanding that devi's growth had hit a wall. He had begun to study the death energy that would allow him to take a different route of growth. A route that even the system seemed to hold back on explaining. But both Devi and Clark had committed to it.

The existence of death energy was not forgotten. That was how undead were able to exist. They were able to possess death energy in small amounts. Some had darkness, poison, or spiritual energy. That was just part of them. But every undead had some death energy, it just made sense.

Devi was a spirit. A beast that was considered mythical that could focus on soul energy and gain a higher spiritual strength to become a spirit emperor or a spirit king. The system had said this. But Clark had theorized that there was more to it. If Devi consumed death energy then he could become much more powerful than the mythical being he could be if he followed an easy path. Devi had agreed.

This left Clark and Devi with the fact that Devi now needed spiritual energy and death energy. Meaning that Devi needed the rarest and hardest to get energy crystals from undead wilderness and dungeons. Or he had to kill more. Both were their own trials.

One thing that the two had noticed and felt while Clark was meditating now was a connection. Their bond as tamer and spirit beast was already equal. Their souls were attached at the deepest of levels. But when Devi had used his spirit drive, Clark had felt energy between them that was greater than before. One that made him swear that he was missing something.

Even now, Devi was sitting still and floating in the center of the edens end taming space. He could sense that Clark was observing him while meditating. The energy crystals were nothing to worry about at the moment. The two were syncing their minds and feeling the flow of their connection.

If Clark believed a little more about ghosts in his past life, he may understand the myths that came with them better. The fact that spirits were b able to share bodies with others. Or the fact that there was certainly more to it than just a connection between them now.

But all of that was not what they could take the time to focus on. Clark and his beasts were focusing on growth at any level. Whether it was growing for Shy, gaining control of dragon energy, or in general strengthening a bond like Devi. They all had to come together more than before to prepare for a dungeon that held a very powerful ice dragon. One that they were going to come face to face with.

"Clark, I have a feeling that it will work. Can you come with me for the last part?" Isa was already certain that the wind caterpillar was stirring in the egg. She wanted to ensure that Clark was there for the moment that it hatched so that he could get a good look at it and check up on it.

He and Ella were the two that held the most knowledge about beasts and she could not risk any problems with her newly tamed beast. Especially one that she was placing her life on in the future.

"Sure thing, I was just meditating and helping everyone absorb some energy." Clark snapped up and stretched a little. He had been at it for a few hours so he was ready for a stretch.
