Spirit Taming

Chapter 353: Same Styles

Chapter 353: Same Styles

"Jerold will be fine right?" Grace made sure to ask Clark and Maria. She trusted what they could see. Isa was clearly less experienced in healing methods. Questions for her were always about money or materials.

"He should be. Those are the best healers. Even the healers that we have seen before now were lower ranked. Those healers are the best of the best." Clark knew this because he had seen some of their beasts. He also knew because they had been holding back and teaching during the earlier matches. This would only be done by healers with much higher levels of experience in their field.

"Clark's right. I can't even understand some of the ways they might be healing. They definitely have skills that don't even need beasts. They have medical knowledge." The medical knowledge was one thing that had to be learned through experience as a healer. It wasn't hidden but it wasn't something that could just be done easily. It had to be learned over time.

Everyone knew that once they went digging in to the portfolios of the best healers.

"I'm more worried about the fact that those bastards are holding their last four students to use later." Ralph seemed fuming mad that Ethereal academy had just given up a round. They could have battled but instead were willing to lose a point for sure.

"I agree, they are here to cause trouble. It means they want to take out guaranteed opponents than actually fighting through the matches. If they make one of their twisted students fight they lose one twisted student. But if they wait, they might get to take down more because some of us will be weaker. It's a strategy to kill more later." Clark understood what was going on.

He didn't hesitate to explain it. Especially since he knew Jerold would have been a victim of this if he had been able to continue battling.

"No matter what just happened, we should be focusing on How Brad is fighting." Reese had been finished for some time after his battle but he was clearly still tired. Whoever, he was quick to pay attention to what Brad was doing. He could see that Brad was fighting someone with a similar style. This could be good or bad for Brad.

"He's right, so shut up and watch Brad crack a skull over there." Ralph didn't hide the brothership he had found with Brad. The two had bonded over fighting head on and now, even though Ralph was still weak, he was sitting here making sure that everyone paid attention to Brad. That was a good sign that Ralph was also recovering very fast.

"His opponent's beast is interesting, care to hear what it is?" Clark saw everyone look at him for a moment. Eventually, Ralph nodded too.

'Frost Slab- rare

The frost slab is a piece of a giant ice golem. It was shattered to pieces for one reason or another. The powerful ice energy left within allowed the piece to come to life as its own beast. It might just be a slab of ice similar to a shield, however, it has great potential.

The frost slab can block many tough attacks while also causing the entire area around it to be coated in frost. This is because there is powerful and uncontrolled ice type energy that escapes it. This is the issue with it being damaged since it was once a piece of another beast. It can fix this issue by incorporating unique ice materials in to it and altering its shape.

There is a great chance for this frost slab to become a great frost shield, a frost wall golem, or even a giant ice golem again. This all depends on the materials it consumes and the training it receives. There is only a small chance of any of this happening if the tamer doesn't learn a corresponding defensive skill that relates to ice type beasts. If done, the success rate jumps by twenty percent.'

Just this little information that Clark shared before he read the rest himself was enough for everyone to wonder what exactly Clark knew. They were always shocked by the depth of knowledge that he had. Yet, right this second he had explained some beasts that they had never heard of that were clearly specific to the ice type environment here.

"I think that Brad will have to face an ice type defensive skill here. The odds are high since that frost energy is somewhat controlled based off what it says should be happening." Clark smiled as he watched Brad took a fighting stance. The possessed helm had already appeared on his body and the partial chest plate had expanded even more since he last wore it.

"Damn walking library. Brad will win. Just watch." The black iron sword that Ralph saw swinging was surely going to shake the frost slab beast or whatever. He knew that Brad would win so it didn't matter what Clark had to say about the opponents' defenses.

"I didn't say he would lose. Just that it would be tough." Clark rebutted as he saw Brad's black iron sword cut away some ice. The exposed frost slab was much darker blue, proving that the entire first layer that appeared to be a shield was actually carved frost that had built up on the frost slab.

"Oh, I know that skill. It's called frost leading. It's used around here to create that frost and ice art in the streets. But I heard that some people used it to make armor and other things to fight with in a pinch." Isa had solved the small mystery related to what defensive skill Brad's opponent used. She had proved that her information network was stronger than anything.

This left the iron sword of Brad's opponent lancing out at him. Luckily, Brad had not been a fool. He had used the black iron shield to deflect the sword opening up another attack attempt. Yet, again, the black iron sword just cut off more frost. These moves continued on in a head on battle. Neither Brad nor his opponent said a word.

The two were truly birds of a feather.

The unfortunate part was, Brad and his opponent were poorly matched. Brad's opponent seemed to be well ahead of Brad when it came to experience. This began to show as Brad was still having his blade deflected the more they battled. His opponent was learning his moves much faster than Brad was adapting.

The sudden pressure was clearly getting to Brad. he was using more energy to block and attack which anyone newer to fighting would do. "And this is where pressure starts to make diamonds." As if Clark could see the future, everyone watched as Brad started to alter his form of attacking.

Instead of just slashing and stabbing, Brad suddenly pushed forward with the shield in his hands. The black iron shield clanged against the frost slab making a very loud ringing sound around the arena. The possessed helm seemed to vibrate with this as it actively altered its shape as well. Neither Clark nor others could understand what was happening.

A small amount of blood dripped down Brad's arms towards the black iron weapons. The possessed helm seemed to be mixing its energy with Brad's blood to connect to the shield and sword. These black iron weapons that it had not dared touch were finally set in its sights because of the pressure it and Brad were under.

Especially since his opponent had been knocked back and was pushing toward him with great fury seeing that a big move might be coming.

Brad roared out in pain the moment that his blood touched the black iron shield and sword. But, this was what was needed, a large amount of energy left the possessed helm causing red lines of blood to form over it and the black iron shield and short sword. "Ha! That's great. Instead of enhancing Brad's body, Brad and his possessed helm worked together to use energy to possess the weapons they used.

Ralph, did you teach Brad to channel energy like you do with forging? He basically just made runes with his blood on short notice."

"No, but Brad always watched me. He wasn't happy that he had lost his mind and strength a bit when he and his armor shared too much energy. He said it was like having a river flowing through his body that he couldn't stop. That his taming space held back the river a little but he wanted to make a stream for that energy.

Now I get it." Ralph more or less spoke to himself but Clark could make out the words just fine.

"That's the skill of Brad and his helm. Their unique taming space inspired skill that uses all their energy. Now let's see if he can keep it up." Knowing that Brad had been figuring this out further proved Clark's theory that Brad was a selective genius. He just needed the right focus and he could be amazing.
