Chapter 352: Slay A Monster
Chapter 352: Slay A Monster
Clark could barely get the description of what the beast was out of his mouth before everyone was grimacing. They knew very well that what they were looking at was a beast that just shouldn't be. The fact that it had somehow made its way in to this tournament was an insult to the beasts that were guided with care and strength. This was just a monster they preyed on everything.
"I don't want to see that here." Grace and Isa were saying the same thing. They two were slightly standing back behind Brad who had instinctively raised his shield from the bench. It was just the habit of wanting to defend himself from something he could clearly feel was dangerous.
Meanwhile, Jerold was unflinching on the stage. He had seen this before. The Nebula academy student didn't seem as calm though. She was plain as day showing her disgust and fear. "That's why I said I would handle this. Please wait."
"Come on little rat! I need a snack for my beast! You have been waiting for me right? Huh? HUUUUHHHH???" The taunts had only grown as the walking skin moved around on the tamer making face like shapes all over his exposed body. It would make anyone feel shivers down their spine and had elicited that exact reaction to many watching the battles.
"Here here little rat! I am coming after you!" The sudden taunt then attack made Jerold jump back. He had not expected that the walking skin could stretch its body and hold the dagger that the Ethereal academy student had been holding.
The attack had narrowly missed Jerold but it had been enough for him to realize that he had to be wary of this beast and tamer. If anyone were to have blinked, they would have missed the armor skinned chameleon snap out its tongue and coated Jerold's dagger in its saliva. This was just the first preparation for Jerold's attack, but it was a well thought out first step taken during a dodge.
Many understood this as a strategy that only came from being in a really dangerous situation and not trained.
"OOOO, you thought that I was gonna get you?" The taunts just became more sadistic as Jerold started to circle toward his opponent. It was clear that the Ethereal academy student had no intention of stopping Jerold but to completely toy with him over and over until the end.
Before the next attack could happen, Jerold started to run toward his opponent. This gained him another strike from the walking skin. It stretched its body and slashed at him again. This time there was a second knife thrown by the tamer. But it had the power of the walking skin since the skin was wrapped around its tamer.
This meant that Jerold was forced to slide on his knees to dodge both the attacks at once. But the moment he would have popped up and his opponent would have slashed him, he was gone. The entire arena became silent as Jerold disappeared without any reason or anyone's understanding.
"Where are you! You won't run again! Get back here you little rat! I said I was going to-" The sudden silence came from the dagger that had just lodged in to the Ethereal academy student's shoulder. He hadn't noticed that Jerold had turned invisible with his armor skinned chameleon's assistance and appeared right before him.
The second slash of Jerold's dagger cut through the walking skin's body revealing the exposed muscles of the ethereal academy student. But even more, it showed the depth of insanity that had come while the two slowly became one. The depth of their path to becoming a disgusting monster.
Taking the chance to retreat, Jerold backed away while his opponent tried to handle the sudden pain. But that wasn't all he had to handle. Because Clark had given Jerold the solution to the weaker poison that Jerold's beast had, the armor skinned chameleon had regained the strength it had lost in its poison typing.
Therefore, the additional pain and growing reaction was due to the poison that had coated Jerold's daggers.
"You aren't going to finish that thing?" The girl with her snow weasel was stunned that Jerold had retreated all the way to her.
"I don't need to. He will die in a few minutes. I am not the coward that was chased through the night. Now he has to be the coward." Jerold's harsh gaze made the Nebula academy student wonder just how someone could be forced to change in this way. It was very radical compared to how her fellow students acted. They were much less determined.
They had less steel in their gaze by comparison.
"HahaHAHAHhahahAH! Screw you little rat! I hate you and your kind! I am just going to KILL you!" The sudden frenzy from the Ethereal academy student was exactly what many would experience once they realized that death was inevitable. However, no one expected that it would drive the beast and the tamer further.
The walking skin started to move rapidly. It had been torn open as well but that didn't appear to matter. Instead, it seemed to be devouring more of the tamer that was laughing in hysterical anger. The skeletal appearance that soon came to be was one that no one thought of as human any longer.
The tamer had allowed the beast that he had bonded with to take much more for strength. In return, the poison showed clearly on the body of the walking skin. The skeletal body underneath was still laughing quietly while the walking skin took over. Before Jerold or the Nebula student could react, it had whipped out with the fingers of skin like real whips.
They stretched and slapped out cutting deep gashes on Jerold's chest and even catching the Nebula student's arm.
These wounds started bleeding profusely. Jerold was sure that the attack had been faster than before because the walking skins was burning all the energy it had just taken from its tamer. But he couldn't worry about that. He had to fight or die.
The next attack was already on the way. The same whips of skin flung out at both of them. Whether Jerold wanted this to be a one on one battle or not, that was how things went. He had to handle the opponent before him or else they would both be taken down before they could do a thing about it.
"Sorry to intrude." with a wave, the snow weasel left its tamer's shoulders. Five more appeared from her taming space making the snow weasels more intimidating in number. The agility they possessed was much greater than many from other academies had seen. They moved with a flurry and bit the walking skin as they could. Small bits of frost appeared where they attack.
Since Jerold was bleeding so much, he was slower, but he had again disappeared leaving only a little blood here and there where he had been. The attacks of the snow weasels were enough to completely occupy the attention of the walking skin. So much so that when Jerold's dagger plunged right in to the back of the Ethereal academy student's neck, it didn't notice it.
The walking skin and the student fell dead right there on the ground without much of a sound. Neither had understood their death or how it happened. "Hey…" Jerold called the girl from Nebula academy over. "Get a small hit on me before I bow out. You helped me there so take the point." Jerold looked at the girl weakly. He was nearly falling over due to blood loss.
"I'm sorry for getting in the way. But he hurt me too." The blood was dripping down the Girl's arm pretty fast as well. She was going to be in the same shape as Jerold if she didn't end this soon. But she had more time than Jerold.
"We could fight with each other again. You're pretty smart with those beasts." Jerold felt a soft tap on the shoulder before he passed out.
"The healers were ready this time. They are already whaling him." Clark had been prepared to carry Maria right on to the arena but saw that healers were already there. They had been prepared to sprint to Jerold and the Nebula academy student before the match.
"Rightfully so, they understand that these things are evil." Maria was glaring at the remaining students of Ethereal academy. They only had four students left at this point but Nebula and Nova technical had six. That was counting Ralph who should not be fighting at all.
"Ethereal academy chooses to forfeit the next point to the winner of the next round." The referee's announcement shocked everyone. Now it was beyond clear that these people were laughing and insulting this tournament. They were here to cause trouble. Not to win.
"That means I fight. I have a match against him." Brad took to the stage. His eyes were fixed on the boy with a short sword and an ice shield. They had been having a silent battle for some time now. This was the perfect chance to have a proper match without any interruption.
