Chapter 331: No Beast?
Chapter 331: No Beast?
"Here goes the next match up. That first guy with the cave golem stepped down. I guess he's saving energy." One of the second years had been speaking a lot, but Clark didn't dislike him. Out of all those that had been listening in or getting a little closer to where Clark set, this guy seemed the best.
The reason Clark said this wasn't because the second year had shown that he was out to uphold the law, or stand for the weak, or even had a more powerful beast. It was because the second year was blunt. He said what he saw and what he thought. That was that. It was a very important quality for a person to have in Clark's opinion.
"That is a gold arrow sparrow and I am glad I did not name that." Isa knew the bird because she had seen the feathers for sale before. Many of the richer families like them since they shined with a golden light even though they were not made of gold.
'Golden arrow sparrow- uncommon
The golden arrow sparrow was named by a tamer that loved to try and hunt faster and faster birds. Eventually, he found the golden feathers of the sparrow and smiled as if it could fly as fast as one of his arrows. This was where he created the name, golden arrow sparrow.
This beast is known for the wind typing that makes it one of the faster birds in the sky. Even though it has a small body and head. It is surprisingly tough so that it can resist stronger winds and use its very sharp arrowhead shaped beak to stab in to prey.
They are weak against ice and cold because they prefer warmer climates, their fine feathers also easily freeze. They do tend to fly faster to warm themselves up though, as long as they have sufficient energy, they can survive the cold winters from their stockpiles of food.'
Clark gave what he knew about them while Isa also supplemented things about their speed and how they usually lived in small families of four or five in open fields or even the desert. This wasn't too ground breaking since most people had ideas of what strengths the golden arrow sparrow had. However, it was not as shocking as the boy that walked up next.
"He doesn't have a beast with him and he isn't calling one out. What is Terra academy thinking?" The same second year blurted out what he thought right away. He was completely confused. Yet, this time, he was not the only one. Multiple people were looking at the boy holding a great sword wondering why he was completely alone with basic metal armor.
"I can't see anything either, let me take a closer look…" Clark was using the system's analysis but kept only getting the armors and the greatsword to show up. He could barely see the boy's skin but had already understood that the armors were not like Brad's.
This made everything more confusing, however, when he went to try and look again, the boy looked up at the stands. His eyes were directly met with bClark's it was like the boy had felt his gaze. "Don't look at me too closely." the voice seemed to be whispered right in Clark's ear, however, it was actually in his head!
The system had also finally responded when Clark's eyes had met the boy's eyes.
'Purple spirit parasite- legendary
The purple spirit parasite is a very unique beast that becomes one with their tamer. They are a spiritual type beast that resides in very old ruins underground. They prefer the silence and calm since their spiritual skills give them the ability of telepathy, emotion reading, and other small effects.
They also have a major skill called spiritual fusion where they completely meld with their tamer or a host. This allows them to help the host body replenish and repair itself perfectly. The host will grow stronger and more efficiently than any other of its kind.
The major drawback is that the host will never be alone, it will always be there as a second mind speaking and interacting. This has driven some hosts insane over time. Those with mental strength enough to survive this will be found to have purple eyes and the unusual tendencies to eat raw foods.
Furthermore, the host that has this beast will often have to sleep for long periods of time if they are not given proper nutrition. The purple spirit parasite will force the body to hibernate until nutrition is higher. This can save the hosts life or make things harder. It is often beneficial since the host can slowly develop a better body while in the state.
There is absolutely no growth potential for this beast other than gaining the full spiritual skills it could have such as psychic manipulation. This skill only manifests when the purple spirit parasite and the host body are perfectly in tune and nourished.'
The amount of information that hit Clark was larger than what he could read right away. He just read the most important parts which seemed to be very long too. The beast was incredibly unique and would never been seen since it was a parasitic spiritual being. Clark understood that beasts like this could exist, but not to this degree!
"That is…amazing." Clark said this in a near whisper but his entire group all heard it. They kept their ears ready to listen to every word that clark spoke for these reasons. When Clarkspoke about beasts it was always profound information or something very important. How could they not pay attention?
"Ella, give you a- good" Ella handed a blank journal and Clark started writing like a mad man. He put down every piece of information that he could. Ella had her own theories but she was watching Clark. Right now she was sure that his skills were much higher than many other tamers. This was because she believed him to have a unique and rare skill to see more than the average person.
These skills were rare appraisal skills that some merchants could have through beasts or more. Yet, Clark had a ghost type beast, one that she had never seen. What kind of ethereal eyes could Clark have through such a bind? Something that no one else could understand was linked to him, that meant that Clark could have a skill that no one else had.
When Ella took back the notebook she found that Clarkhad just written out a massive five pages and looked at them unhappily. "I will tell you more that I know later, but these are the basics. I had to write them down before they started the real battle." Clark stood up to get a better view of the match.
He watched the boy with the purple spirit parasite leap up and nearly slash the golden arrow sparrow out of the sky. He then landed right next to the tamer causing the arena floor to crack. There was extreme force in every movement. Every single little attack and step made the other tamer grow more pale.
The Comet academy tamers were all growing pale. They had never expected Terra academy to send out such a trump card earlier than other academies. Yet, it was a great way to conserve secrets and energy for their other tamers. They would have a later tournament advantage compared to others. But it did one other thing, it scared every single academy watching.
"When we fight them, I will fight him. That is a requirement." Clark knew that the boy was fighting well above a first year level. This was all due to the purple spirit parasite. It would be extremely hard for him to limit himself. That was why this boy could become the top student in every academy if he wanted.
"Hey, I will fight you later. You two are very interesting and definitely worth my time. Great job growing so far!" Clark could only compliment the boy and his beast. In return, the boy glanced over and a single thing was whispered back.
"Let's have a fair fight." it wasn't long, it wasn't vicious. Just pure and blunt. The exact kind of person Clark liked.
"A what!? A beast like that exists?" The second year boy burst out in sweat upon hearing what Ella was telling everyone. Even the few third and fourth years that had not wanted to have anything to do with Clark's group leaned forward with shock on their faces. No one had expected to encounter such a beast.
"Terra academy students like with the underground so this makes sense. They probably found an ancient ruin and were able to excavate it. That means they have ancient treasures, materials, and now a beast that like ruins. It's a pure luck situation that they maximized. We should feel glad to fight them, they will be wise opponents." Isa said this but Maria was backing her up.
Soon Clark's whole group seemed more energetic to fight. They wanted to see how they held up against opponents that fight with their brains instead of arrogance.
