Chapter 330: Actor
Chapter 330: Actor
"Ella, you didn't need to fight at all in your matches, right?" Grace saw that Ella had stopped writing for a few moments and decided to ask her about her battles. This was mainly because Grace wanted to learn a little more from Ella. She already saw Ella's genius and wanted to try and grow from it a bit.
"That is correct. My teammates do not believe that I would have come here with first years if I was strong enough to have real fights. They have decided that I am just here because of my academic and newly used business prowess. None of them have even seen my beasts yet. They believe that wisps are just weaklings as well. It is very disheartening."
The group saw that Ella wasn't showing any sadness at saying this. "However, it means that when they fail in their matches, I will have the chance to show them my progress. The research I have spent my academic life on will shine very brightly in the darkness of their failures."
Anyone who had ever heard of a phrase that goes, a patent man is a true terror would understand after hearing Ella speak. She was willing to watch everyone around her fail before she reached out a hand to show them the strength she truly possessed. It was a terrifying notion, but one that was more mature than many would have.
"Your frost finch, has it changed its characteristics and behaviors since the final change? Have you noticed anything in your own body that is now altered? I recently met a boy who had heavier body hair growth due to their beast being an alpha polar bear. I am investigating other similar occurrences."
"Umm, no. just that I can resist the cold a lot better than everyone else. I also seem to like it more too though." This didn't seem major to Grace. But Ella recorded it nonetheless.
"If that is the case, then I might have some of that going on. You probably heard but when we fought against those snobs of the celestial sea academy, my partner used a new skill and it made me a little…rougher." Brad was a little embarrassed since he had been reprimanded by professor Wright for this. Yet, he was secretly very proud of his beast for growing so much within the taminign space.
There was a slight worry about the blood aspect though, it felt a little too barbaric.
"I did hear about that. A skill that dramatically boosts your physical prowess is known to appear in many armor type beasts. Your possessed helm should be making a slow transition to living armor. It might be making a transition to a demonic armor or a living knight. Clark may disagree so I will be interested to see what theory is correct in the end."
Part of Clark wished that Ella would be correct since she worked so hard to discern her theories. Unfortunately, he knew that the system had the last say. It was an analysis pro, that made no mistakes. Clark was perfectly and completely sure that the system had guessed the growth path of the possessed helm correctly. He just had to wait to see.
"They are starting out. Look at that guy, he's already covered in spikes and stuff." Ralph was sitting closest to where he could watch the first years of Comet and Terra academy battle. He wanted to make sure that he could crush them without having to rely on the others.
"Speaking of armor, that guy has a beast like Brad's. It's just a little different because it is also closer to a golem." Clark was already using the system's analysis as much as he could wherever he saw a beast. He had to, it was all a way for him to learn and become stronger. Just physical training would make him a dumb meathead that was an easy target for anyone that could think critically.
'Cave golem- rare
The cave golem is a unique species of stone golem. They often appear in large cave systems that never see the sun. When discovered, they are often very territorial since they spend their time slowly gathering every small bit of earth energy in their cave.
When the cave golem finds something it wishes to protect, it will store it close to its core so that it can not be attacked easily. That is also why many have followed the theory to explain why a cave golem always takes the form of stone armor when tamed. They are easily the best set of stone armor since the cave golem can easily repair the armor that makes up its body.
Unfortunately, the weight often slows the wielder down greatly.'
This explanation wasn't just left unsaid, Clark explained why the boy that Ralph was looking at had such eye catching armor. The boy clearly had a well developed physique to easily wear the armor everywhere he went. To match this, he carried an ornately carved stone club. A little rough, but it seemed to work perfectly with his physique and beast.
"What about his opponent from Comet academy?" This analysis and learning from the matches before it even started had caught everyone's attention. Even one of the second years sitting nearby broke the calm facade and dared to ask Clark out loud. It earned the boy some glances, but they didn't argue since they were also curious.
'Windrift pelican- uncommon
The windrift pelican is a unique wind and water type beast. They often spend time near beaches or large bodies of water. They are known for flying in wind currents only to swoop down to swallow prey whole.
They had tougher feathers than one would expect of a bird due to the unique skill to use water to bolster their defenses. They can also use their water coated feathers to attack. This is not the strongest attack they have. They can enhance the speed of their feathers greatly with wind to make them very hard to avoid or to change attack speed constantly.
It makes them a tough species to fight but also fairly arrogant.
Unfortunately, the growth speed of this species is slow and minimal. They often spend time in groups of four or five which greatly adds to their survival. Their favorite food is…'
Sharing some of the information was enough. A few of the second years from less prominent families made a move to sit closer to Clark's group. While the other higher families were mostly under control of others, this was an important step.
Due to the fact that the families knew that Clark had rustled the feathers of a powerful family like the Mourne family, they wanted to remain out of the fight. That made even the students of the second, third, and fourth years that were not affiliated with either the Mourne or the Mane family on edge. It was too risky right now to get close. That didn't mean that they were not listening.
They would rely on the weaker families to ask questions.
The fact that Clark knew this and felt every glance from them was clear. What was more surprising were the glances he didn't feel. It appeared that Maria's older brother and even Ella's older brother along with the majority of the fourth year class had not come at all today.
This alone would make anyone curious. Why would the top year and the top students be absent? It was normally expected that they were there at every battle to make sure that their academy was being shown off the most. However, this year was different, the battles were set up in a group format. They had to strategize.
The odds were high that the fourth years were busy preparing for the next battle and would get their information about opponents through other means.
"Here they go, that guy is going to win if he can grab ahold of…well, maybe he will lose." Ralph was naturally cheering for the guy in armor who was going to fight up close and personal with the club. But the windrift pelican had fired multiple feathers made of water at the boy causing the cave golem armor to crack and fall to pieces in some places.
It appeared that water was easily cutting stone here.
"He's a very good actor, but this battle is a win for Terra academy." Isa giggled while saying this. She was looking at the boy with the cave golem armor's face. She was a top tier business woman, how could she miss a fake look of pain.
The next swoop down that the pelican took, the cave golem armor flew back up from the group and returned to place. Brown earth energy flowed around the armor and the spikes seemed to grow, the pelican could not change its course fast enough and the boy slammed it to the earth with his club. A perfect act for a perfect win.
Everyone was impressed but it also made them realize that they should not underestimate an opponent that looked weak. The examples of this were too many to laugh at as a coincidence.
