Spirit Taming

Chapter 321: Salted

Chapter 321: Salted

The boy with the pink razor clam came to the stage next. It was clear that he didn't appear to want to come to the stage at all. Having everything out in the open with the arenas did not seem to make many of those fighting happy. Clark could see this much. However, it was just part of battling for their academies. It would win them great benefits for their futures.

However, Clark saw the sneers on the other celestial sea academy student's faces. They were looking at the boy like he was just a tool. It was made clear that the first boy had been sent out because he was a hot head. The perfect person to force an enemy to show off their skills. But the second boy was sent as a defensive test.

He was basically a punching bag. Sent to annoy an opponent and force them to show off their stronger attacks if they couldn't get them through. The boy was a sacrifice that needed to be close to a tamer to do any damage.

Isa could understand all of this. She knew that she was supposed to be baited to attack the pink razor clam shield and get stabbed by the barb or just suffer through sending attacks that didn't do any damage. However, she was not just any ranged attacker. She had fire and ice at her disposal. That meant a lot.

Unfortunately, for her opponent, he had to face the heat. Fire balls formed in the air slowly. Isa knew that her opponent could never move fast enough to get out of the way of every attack she sent. It also was a scene that mocked the celestial sea academy a little. It showed that she was not taking them seriously.

This was the same for them though, they had not brought their best fighters. Instead, they had brought two people that they used as fodder. To make them have more advantages after losing two points. It was a sacrifice strategy that would make them lose their matches faster as far as Isa was concerned. especially because she knew that even if she lost, Clark was behind her.

Seeing the terrifying fireballs forming, the boy with the shield retreated. Right before Isa made a motion to throw one at him, he shouted out to the referee that he surrendered. That was two points out of eight won right away.

The other six first year students berated the two for losing and giving them nothing. Eventually, the six sent out a smaller girl. She was holding nothing but a small staff made of coral. Clark quickly examined everything he could about her and her weapon.

"Sponge coral staff- rare

This is made from a living sponge, it is a sea beast that can absorb water to an amazing limit. The size will not change while holding tons of water. This staff was made so that water could be carried around with the user in to battle while also acting as a method for conducting water type energy.'

The staff seemed thin and small, but the living sponge it was made out of could hold enough water to make the situation very poor. "Isa, get a little serious and watch out for the water," Clark shouted out as the match was started. He saw water begin to flow from the living sponge staff immediately.

Water didn't flow out in a torrent. The ground was slowly coated in an inch of water. It easily reached Isa who had already reformed a fire ball to test things out. However, a portal to the girl's taming space opened revealing her beast.

"Salt frog- uncommon

The salt frog is a beast that can live on land and in salt water. It is one of the few amphibious beasts that live in salt water. During the hottest seasons, it will allow itself to dry out on the beach and wait for salt flies to attack it. Then it will eat them constantly before returning to the ocean for days at a time.

They are known for their resilience to heat and water. However, they had low growth potential, where they exceed, is in their breeding potential making them a risk if left unchecked by predators. They can use their tongues to attack from a distance or they can leap a large distance.

It is noteworthy to remember that these are a rare triple elemental beast of water, earth, and fire. This comes from the salt water, the salt representing earth, and the sun representing a weak fire typing. These are a rare but common beast. A strange mystery of nature specific only to certain coastlines and islands.'

This was not a very good sign, especially because it was not only one salt frog that came from the girl's taming space. It was three salt frogs. All of them were the sizes of the average dog, however, they were still young. The water didn't seem to be an advantage for any of them though, but it would be an advantage for another opponent later.

"It's another set up for someone else. This celestial academy is basically sacrificing many points to prepare for someone powerful." Clark mumbled this and attracted his team's attention. They all looked at the standing students wondering just who out of the remaining five was going to be the powerhouse of their academy first year students.

"Whatever they are planning won't be enough. Isa is already making quick work of the frogs." Reese didn't stress. Eh just watched as Isa started to move with higher speed than he had expected.

Isa was training the same as everyone else. She had just been a little more focused on the business side of things. Yet, what everyone forgot was that she also ran and moved on foot with them during most of the journey. Every single one of them had been training their speed and stamina. Why else would Professor Wright have made them run so much?

They could have easily flown right from their academy to the north.

The first salt frog that met the flames seemed nearly unfazed, however, the reason that the water was around was highlighted to a degree. The steam coming off the salt frog's skin was due to the heat that Isa threw at it. The Crystal golem was forced to block the tongue attack from the first frog while the second leaped at Isa.

The third had been hit with the flames too but more drastically, it rolled in the saltwater and seemed to be back to tip top shape immediately. Isa just clicked her tongue and took out a piece of crystal that her crystal golem had shaped and made for her.

The spike of crystal had been one of many that Isa had gathered basic materials to make. Her crystal golem had control of its body to a degree and with the right materials could make its body larger. The crystals she had gathered had been shaped to be used as weapons but also to be added to its body if any damage was done to it.

In this situation, Isa was looking to expand the area that the crystal golem could attack. The salt frogs leaped at her but one felt the danger coming from the crystal spike thrown toward it. Even Clark had not known about this strategy and was surprised. Especially when the crystal shattered in the air and pierced the three salt frogs' skin.

This was not like the flames that had caused their bodies to steam. It was a piercing attack that caused lasting damage. Naturally, Isa had theorized many ways to have her crystal golem join battles other than defense. This had been a key way that she had come up with after thinking about how her flame sprite could make a fire ball explode if it wanted to.

The principle had to be the same for the crystal golem and crystal too.

"I will keep throwing these until your little frogs are just pin cushions. If I want, my perfect crystal golem can cause the crystals to shatter again!" Isa threatened the girl who had been hiding far from her and releasing more water from the living sponge staff. She had no intention of fighting because she was just there to draw out the battle longer. If she won, it was even better.

"I surrender!" the girl was instantly scared. She had already been bullied in to coming here, now she had done her job and had to protect her beasts. It wouldn't be unheard of for a beast to be killed. She couldn't let that happen to one of her precious salt frogs.

The battles appeared to be easy, however, Isa had exhausted a lot of fire energy. She actively undid the fusion of her and her flame sprite while walking off the stage. "I need to rest for a little bit. I got rid of the weak ones. But the arena is wet now. Good luck." Clark gave her an approving nod.

It was the correct decision to make. Especially if Isa was going to keep her ice maiden hidden for even longer.
