Chapter 215: The Situation

Chapter 215: The Situation

"No one is permitted to enter the Nova academy grounds for the time being. Please wait here." The professor that was guarding this gate was not one that any of the four had seen, yet, they knew from the tone and the growling ice lion behind the professor that this was incredibly serious.

"What happened? Why?" Isa was the only one to burst out with questions right away. It was not a welcoming set of questions though. The professor just stood even more sternly blocking the gate.

"The information is not for just anyone to- You are the student under Sir Alexander?" The professor saw the gargoyle pattern on Clark's academy uniform. This was enough to stop him in his tracks. "Please come this way to the inner gate waiting area. You will be kept here with a guard for this time period."

"I will not go without my team. If you insist, I will personally contact my mentor right this second." Clark sensed the opportunity to keep the group together and exploited it. He didn't feel the least bit bad about it at all.

"That is acceptable. Please this way." When they were moved from the outside gate to the inner gate it was not much of a change. The inside gate was just a more secure place to wait. However, there was no one here that was also waiting. This meant it was private.

"My beast is guarding the gate. You can be told what is happening to some degree. Over the night, there was an attack on the Star City Lord's daughter. There is a great amount of chaos inside the academy because of this but currently, the Star city Lord's daughter is thought to be suffering from poison. The beast that caused it must be found."

"Wait, but we just helped them the other day. How could this happen?" Isa jumped back up from the spot she had just sat down.

"If there is a poison maybe we can find a beast that specializes in absorbing poison?" Maria was already trying to think her way through a solution. Lit was a glow sting jellyfish, she could create antidotes to poisons because she had the poisons within her. But that didn't mean she could easily do so. That required suffering from the same poison.

"There was an attempt at that but it failed. There is an odd energy within the poison. It's decaying, but not exactly that. It's worse. Not many have encountered it." The professor had said all he knew to this degree. It was a shame that he knew so little but this was all he could use to garner the favor of the retired academy headmaster.

Just telling the headmaster's student some small information.

"What if we entered? We were able to help once and possess unique beast that may be of assistance." Ella had another idea. She wanted to use the information, the clear attempt from the professor at earning brownie points, and the situation to enter the academy and solve a mystery.

"I agree with Ella, we might be able to figure something out or at least bring some comfort to our friend. The Star city lord was more than good to us. If we can help in even the smallest way I am sure that it would be known." Clark also used the chance to get in to the academy.

"If the Star city lord hears of this-" The professor caught himself. He wanted to move up and make Nova academy a better place. He could also garnish his strength by being part of this. "Then you will follow my spotted cat inside. It is a scouting beast I use so it should be able to lead you to the main healing building we are housing the injured in."

"Thank you for your help, we will surely mention it to my mentor." Clark watched the professor smile much wider before he summoned his spotted cat and sent them on their way.

"Clark, that was very sneaky." Maria giggled a little but had no problem with using those methods to get in to the academy. She wanted to go and see the younger girl who was on her way to join an academy herself just the other day. The fact that someone's future might be stolen from them truly hit Maria harder than the otters.

Clark felt the same pain when he heard about the situation, but Maria could clearly see herself in the matter. A girl who was being attacked and having her bright future taken from her without any control over it herself. An incredible insult that she would not let pass. It was all too clear to see in the determination of her eyes. The pure flames of justice that had begun to burn some time ago.

The many students that would normally be running around were nowhere to be seen. The only people that the four came across were guards at the very healing building that was their destination. Because there was a professor's beast guiding them, they were not stopped. However, they heard the angry roar of the Star city lord as soon as they entered.

"My daughter was here to grow! To see another academy and those I have valued. Now you are saying she might not leave here alive! How can you be such a terrible healer? You clearly made progress then watched your progress fail. Hope could you-" As the four entered the Star city lord silenced himself thinking that another healer had arrived.

"We came as soon as we heard. We were in a dungeon for the past day and had thought you left here. But it's clear that the worst happened. I am unsure if we could help at all but even the smallest thing you need, just ask." Clark did not hesitate. He knew showing even the slightest hesitation was going to lead to overall failure.

"Well, you are young, but you have a good heart. The four of you have already impressed me." The Star city lord softened a little seeing that the four were clearly still in rough shape from whatever their dungeon had been. He easily saw the wounds that Clark had just freshly healed on his skin.

"You said we were your friends. How could friends not come to see each other when in need?" Ella said the most the Star city lord had heard her say yet that didn't pertain to beasts. But her words were matter of fact. They were also the way things should be.

"Well spoken, then come here. If even the smallest chance that you four can come up with a small hint on who did this or how to help my daughter…I will take it." There was a steel that made Clark and the others flinch. The city lord did not care if he had to kill to save his daughter. It was supposed to be like this for any family, yet it still brought shivers when said out loud.

The room that the Star city lord pulled them to was large and full of healers. They were trying to create potions, medicines, and develop theories. But the daughter of the Star city lord laying on a bed in the middle was what was scariest.

Her skin was pale as the snow while her veins showed black and blue. There was a clear infection that was running through her entire body slowly killing her. The rushed breaths and drops of cold sweat on her forehead showed even more proof of the turmoil within her body.

"Every single time these false healers use skills on my daughter it gets better, then it gets worse. Then they have the gall to tell me that they don't know what energy is being used in the poison. It's ridiculous!" The shout made many of the healers rush from side to side trying to find a sudden solution.

"When did this happen?" The sudden dark demeanor that Clark possessed was not what the girls expected. He had suddenly become full of silent anger while looking at the daughter of the Star city lord.

"We toured the medical facilities here and wanted to stay a little longer. It was an impromptu decision because my children were enjoying the city so much. I decided to take a few days to be a father and vacation with them. I am always too busy so it is what they deserve. Can I not be a father?" The question seemed to be for the heavens not for anyone else.

"Then get everyone that you came in contact with in this room. I want to see them all. We are solving this immediately. They will be removing their beast or I will be killing their beast." The Star city lord's face went blank when Clark said this. But he also agreed to it.

"You were right when you recommended your little group to me at the auction house. I will trust you again." Clark had assumed the Star city lord had figured out who they were back then after the disguises. But this was his way of saying that he expected the solution perfectly and clearly. Or else there would be consequences.
