Chapter 189: Claim Victory!
Chapter 189: Claim Victory!
Maria had returned easily enough. She had been lucky to go against someone that had not even arrived. This put Clark a little on edge. It was not normal for an opponent to miss the chance. However, he saw many of the Cain family members roaming around. From their dismayed looks, it appeared that their bribery may not have worked and the person that had tried to come fight was done away with.
"Don't worry about it. If they were going to try something else they would have done it already. Not everyone is bought with money or power. I will thank whoever my opponent was meant to be." Maria assured Clark that she would handle it and that was all he needed to what.
"If that's what you want then we will be fine. Let's go and see how Isa and Ella are doing in their matches. Maybe we will be just in time to see them." Clark put some pep in his step and moved toward Isa's arena.
What they found was no match at all. The entire arena was frozen. A single person was trapped in the ice while Isa looked full of rage. It was not something that they had seen of her ever before.
"The winner is Isa Rolly!" Isa diffused her current elemental fusion with the ice maiden and left the arena to find Clark and Maria waiting.
"And what was that?" Clark pointed at the arena. The ice covered the entire floor freezing her opponent's legs completely in place. There was sure to be a lot of damage.
"Are you alright?" Maria started to look at Isa for any injuries. She knew she could have Lit heal her if necessary.
"It was nothing much. Just an insult to my friend and family. I let it get to me. I guess… I might be a little stressed out with a city lord coming to see us." Clark glanced at Isa then at the arena.
"And that was the result of you being angry?" Clark wondered how long Isa had hidden her ability to do such damage. The ice that covered the entire arena could clearly incapacitate multiple opponents at once.
"It wasn't controlled. I have to control the elemental energies that fuse with me even though they are not my own. When I let it run rampant I have adverse effects. Right now, my ice maiden feels ill because I used too much energy. It's my fault." Isa was clearly unstable because of this. She was taking it very hard.
"If you are that stressed then we will step up even more. You can relax while Clark and I show off for the city lord. You and Ella are working hard to speak to both your families to keep me safe. I can do this." Maria had already understood what her friends did for her even when she was not looking.
"Oh, so you noticed that it wasn't only Ella that wanted to offer you an adoption in to her family? I knew that Isa would do it but I thought you hadn't caught on so I was silent." Clark was very impressed that Maria had become so much more observant.
"Of course I knew. I can't just pretend that my situation doesn't cause anyone stress and worry too." Maria actually huffed at Clark a little. But he quickly caught on that she was just putting on an act.
"I didn't think that you knew yet. I asked my father to present the invitation at the growth plan showing later. I want you to be safe." This was clearly a large worry for Isa. She had made a very close sister like bond with Maria.
"Before we talk about this too much we should go and watch Ella battle. It is sure to be a good match. She also might want to fight to have Maria as a sister." Clark could also tell that Isa was much more exhausted. Having a beast with weak energy at the moment would affect the tamer in some form. For Isa, it was a shared exhaustion.
Maria kept a close eye on Isa while they spoke in whispered tones. Clark knew that she was just venting anger about her rude opponent that had taunted her and her friends. It was understandable that she would break at some point. But it was a good learning experience. The group would be faced with these people and they had to be able to stand tall through any idiot trying to push them.
"Ella Green battling against Reese Grand!" The referee was putting a lot more effort in to the start of the battle than the other referees. This just came with the higher years in the school. These were also battles watched by more people in larger arenas.
The proof was that there were about sixty students here to watch the battle. Even Ella's older brother had made an appearance to see how it went.
"I heard you changed your battle style since we last had a chance to face one another. My Grand family would be proud to offer the same deal after our short battle is concluded." The boy named Reese Grand did not appear to be too cruel. He had two beats with him and appeared to be holding a hand to Maria.
"As I said last time we battled. I will win the next time we see one another. I will also not be working with your family. Just because we have some ties between our families does not mean that I will follow the example." Ella had clearly been offered a position working for the Grand family.
"The Grand family is decently powerful. But they have never had a powerful enough tamer to claim a General title or even close to it. But they do have a lot of city guards in their family. Tough opponents for sure." Clark recalled that many of the guard captains held the Grand family name. They were tough and well trained. A respectable occupation.
"We shall see what you say after losing yet again." The two beasts floating beside Reese were butterflies of all beasts. However, they gave off a powerful aura and were the size of trash can lids. Many times larger than any butterfly that Clark had seen prior.
' baleful butterfly- rare
The baleful butterfly is a darkness and spirit type dual beast. This is because they hold two bodies with a singular mind. They are split in to a body of dark elemental energy and one of spiritual energy.
This is how they are able to fuse their energies perfectly or also operate to fight prey at an advantage. When they fuse together in to one singular body they can create powerful illusions along with dealing mental damage.
The twin leaf caterpillar is extremely rare to find in the wild but if it is found and nurtured it has the chance to grow in to three different distinct beasts such as the baleful butterfly. The best materials to bring the baleful butterfly in to the next growth stage are…'
"That is definitely a tough beast to fight. Ella will have to fight very hard.." Clark watched as Ella pulled the rapier and shield from her storage ring. The blue flame wisp also appeared next to her. They both seemed to be ready to attack together. This was not a normal battle for Ella. she was not holding back much at all.
"Taking up a weapon will not help you." Reese moved with an elegant step toward Ella. he had a simple short sword as a weapon. But what caused the crow watching to gasp were the multiple copies that appeared around him. There were four Reese's attacking Ella at once.
"That is the illusion attack. But I think Ella expected this." Clark watched as Ella dropped to the ground and a pulse of blue flames flew through the air. The three fake Reese's were blown away while the real Reese ducked under the flames. His shoulder was slightly burned but the rich blue flames.
"Yes, blue flame wisp. A beast that was thought to be impossible to just tame. Very impressive. But I will win." Behind Ella another co[py appeared. However, this one had the spiritual wisp on its shoulder. The short sword was an illusion brought to reality using some shadows.
The sword sliced at Ella, unfortunately, Ella was faster now. She had been training with the group to be able to protect herself without the wisps working to do it at all times. Therefore, Ella was able to deflect the shadowy short sword with her shield and stab at the copy with her rapier.
The spiritual half of the baleful butterfly was forced to retreat back to Reese who was shocked to see his best tactic defeated easily. "And here I believed that you would have new tricks to research. Your beast is very unique and has not reached its potential. If you would like guidance you can purchase it from my beast growth analysis business." Ella stepped forward.
The rapier thrust out toward Reese while her blue flame wisp grew three times in size. The heat that it had prepared for a major attack burst out of the wisp wrapping Ella's rapier perfectly. "I surrender!" Reese gave up instantly. Such an attack was not avoidable. That was Ella's reason for using it. To win completely.
