Spirit Taming

Chapter 188: Admirer

Chapter 188: Admirer

"I swear, where is the energy? It's been some years since I was this young but even then I could stay up for nights on end." Alexander had been able to find Doc but when the pair had made it to the lab they found four sleeping students.

"Get up and get ready!" The shout from Doc was more childish funny than anything. He was having a grand time laughing at the sudden panic in his four students. What didn't make him laugh was that all four had responded by pulling weapons or preparing to fight a battle on the spot. "You know, that's your fault that they might kill someone waking them up."

"Who says that is my fault? They are very prepared for anything. They should get a better grade for being prepared." Alexander watched the reason return to the group's eyes. They were clearly unhappy realizing that they had slept here.

"I have all of your battle assignments. You will be battling earlier in the morning because I have to prepare you for the arrival of the Star cavity Lord tonight." Alexander knew that the guards sent to escort the Star city lord had already met up with him. All that was left was for them to make it to the academy so that they could show it all off.

"If we are going to be battles….shouldn't we eat something?" Isa felt that they would be too low on energy.

"That would be wise. However, your matches are all in twenty minutes." This was enough to wake them all up. Their matches for their class battles were in twenty minutes!

"How could you do this to us!? Crazy old man!" Clark was the first to sprint out of the room. The girls followed right behind him without any hesitation.

"And look at that, found the energy. I wonder if I should tell them that it is really thirty minutes that they have to get ready?"

"You are truly evil. Those poor children are all going to be forced to train way too much." Doc lamented the future torture his students would need to endure.

While the two mentors were planning the day, Clark found himself in front of his arena with time to spare. "I have the pleasure of meeting you after all this time. I am glad that you have made yourself acquainted with Miss Ella. I am from the Green family branch family. You don't need to worry about me for now.

I am only here for a match with the genius that has set their sights on the Green family name."

The large boy that gripped Clark's hand was attempting to crush it. "So no hard feelings then? Good to know that signing a business contract with the Green family's, FREE TO DO AS SHE WANTS, young daughter is bringing out the worst in them." Clark was annoyed but threw some salt right back in the boy's face.

"Oh, do not worry. I know you are valuable to her growth. I just want to be sure that you understand your place. It's not that you are a commoner, you just can't match the greatness of the green family's youngest daughter." The slight tinge of red on the boy's face proved that he had more on his mind than what he was saying.

"If you two are early we will start the battle. Bring out your beasts and let's get on with it." Having a match so early made the referee want to get it done. Most would feel the same so no one else would fault him.

"Battle!" The referee didn't wait and instead started the match.

The poleaxe that appeared in the larger boy's hand was intimidating enough. Luckily, Clark had Crim appear in front of him with a single roar that woke up anyone that was still tired in the entire arena they were battling in. A few people had arrived just to see Clark fight. He was becoming more popular now.

"My striped bear will handle your little lizard.' The boy waved a hand and from a taming space a large red and yellow siped bear appeared.

"Huh, you are ahead of some people in the elite class with your taming space. You should be in class with us." Clark observed this simple fact.

"I would never leave the position my family has been assigned. Just remember that you should also remain in a position you are assigned." The bear roared as Clark prepared to counter it while also handling the poleax.

'Striped bear- rare

The striped bear is a beast that sleeps for many months at a time. The number of stripes it has directly relates to the stored fats it has in its body. This is how it is able to use powerful physical enhancements while also avoiding food consumption.

The striped bear is a rare pure earth beast that does not manipulate the earth with its energy. Instead it channels the energy to strengthen its body as a mountain would. This makes it tougher to handle and a close combat tank. The weakness it possesses is also small since it is only weak on its center stomach near where the kidney is located. This is due…'

"Crim, you handle the bear. Aim for its stomach lower left." Hearing the weakness so easily guessed made the boy flinch.

"That has to be because you have learned from Miss Ella. find yourself lucky because you will not be-" The boy was interrupted as Clark used the spear in his hands and ghostly steps to appear closer to him.

Clark used a crescent moon slash to easily change the trajectory of the poleax. "I think you should know, your precious Miss Ella is not romantically involved with me or anyone else. She loves research and we share that to a degree. Strictly business. If you wish to ask her yourself, then do it."

Clark had hit the nail on the head. This boy may be part of the branch family for the Green family, but that was in name only. He was not actually related to Ella. meaning, he was able to be involved with her. Whatever his history was Clark already guessed that he was smitten. How could he not use it to his advantage?

The pained cry of the stropped bear was enough to add to the confusion and emotional turmoil. Clark lowered his stance and used the back of his spear to jab in to the boy's ribs. While he did not break a rib, Clark heard the air rush from the boy's lungs.

"I looked at your beast and your fighting style. I won because you were angry, jealous, and overall emotional. If you had not been in that way…well, you would have been the toughest fight among our class. Ask to be brought to the elite class. I want to see you there." Clark genuinely thought that the boy before him could do more than he admitted.

Whatever reason for him to not be in the elite class could be ignored.

"That guy was ready to counter me even though I messed him up." Clark mumbled to himself while the referee wondered what had happened. Even Crim was confused. But Crim had not seen that their opponent had shifted stance instinctively to keep him from being injured worse than he had been. Not many people possessed innate fighting instincts like that.
