Spirit Taming

Chapter 173: Top Grade

Chapter 173: Top Grade

The look of pure happiness that Isa had was enough to tell Maria and Clark that this was the correct choice. On top of that, it was clear that she had been secretly looking for another beast. She had the ability to allow her beasts that had elemental natures to fuse with her body. Due to that, Isa had the ability to become stronger physically in ways that other tamers would be unable to do.

"I thought that I would need to find an earth sprite or something else. But this is great. I bet I can even help it learn the crystal armor skill!" This was not what Calrk had thought of.

"I think I have heard of that but I didn't think of it. How would that work? Would it still fuse with you?" Since Clark was not adept in the ability that Isa's family had, he had to ask. His system could do nothing to explain this to him either.

"It would and it would not. If I fused with something like a golem, I would be left with some discomfort. They are very solid physical beings. That's why I fuse with my ice maiden and flame sprite. They are more elemental energy than solid beasts. So, when I teach this pure crystal golem how to change form and use the crystal armor I can fuse with it slightly."

"So you would have armor that fits you perfectly on a skin to armor level? You would have the perfect armor all over your body!" Maria realized exactly what Isa was telling them. It was the ideal situation for someone like Isa. flexible tough armor that moved with her in perfect motion.

"I am curious how you will fuse with a wind beast too. If you manage that, then it could increase the flames or the cooling effect of ice attacks." Clark was theorizing about future combinations. There was a lot of potentials that Isa had when it came to how she would battle from long range. Overall, he saw that she had a great deal of crowd control attacks.

"I will need to wait until I am stronger. If I get a fourth beast I will be overwhelmed. It will take a lot of time for me to get used to this little one when it hatches." The egg was hugged By Isa. she didn't want to just store it away. Having it in her arms was too perfect.

"What about you Maria? Have you contracted the midnight eel yet?" Clark had not seen Maria for a few days and wanted to know how things had gone. She would definitely work to improve her battle abilities with the new beast.

"I have actually been researching. I have materials to help it grow but I do not want to hatch it until I can give it a smooth growth plan. There are a surprising amount of books about them in the library.

Star city and our city have a closer trade relationship than I knew." Maria spent hours and hours finding the best growth plan information for the eel so that he could ask Clark for guidance once she hatched the midnight eel.

"Sounds perfect. I can be the student while you tell me what you found." Clark was very happy to hear that Maria had more knowledge about the midnight eel. He had to check it once it hatched and then develop a growth plan. With the knowledge that Maria had, he would have a better idea of what Maria wanted from the growth of the midnight eel.

"Should we leave and go see Ella? She has been locked in her lab for the last few days creating wisp growth plans. Apparently, she has already started on the beginning processes." Isa surprised both Maria and Clark with this information.

"Clark, before you leave come and meet with me." Professor Wright caught Clark just as he was about to follow Isa and Maria out. She didn't mind that they were leaving since today was a battle prep day. However, she had a few things to say.

"I can tell that you have changed some of your battle styles. The way you walk is a little different and there is a hardness in your eyes. Whatever you and your mentor have worked on is for you to know. What I ask of you is that you become the top student to represent this academy. Whether you are the strongest overall or the strongest first year, I do not care.

Just represent us as the strongest student."

"Of course I will. I have high hopes for what I can do with my beast. I won't let you down." Clark was not sure why his professor was so dead set on this. He just knew that he would do his best no matter what.

"Good. When you go against the other students, they may cause some trouble. I have had to deal with a few scuffles since you have been gone.'' Professor Wright's eyes glanced at Maria by the door. Clark understood exactly what may have happened.

Since Maria had been getting stronger it was only fair that the rumors about the exiled Mourne family daughter becoming stronger to spread. That meant there were Cain and Mourne family members after her. Even worse, some would not stop the lackeys that would go after her for fame from their masters.

"I will ensure that the three of us are in the top three. Actually, the top four." Clark focused on His small rival who was speaking with his boar. "Yes, we will be the top four first years so that we can ensure everyone is safe." The cold tone of Clark's voice made even professor Wright shiver slightly. But this was good. She knew he was willing to put his life on the line.

Watching Clar walk away, professor Wright worried a little bit for the foolish students that would fall for the brides of large families. They were always hollow things that caused more trouble than what they were worth.

"So, you said that Ella has been locked away in the lab? What about her classes?" Clark wasn't aware that the research students could have special exemptions if they had their professors' approval.

"Doc signed off on her missing a week of classes to use the materials we found as a testing base. She also set up the lab so we can make and even start doing some of the growth plans. A few merchants here and there have sent some letters ahead of time for us." Isa was basically shaking with excitement.

They would be able to figure out what they were going to do with their business while also being able to hatch her egg. Or at least start hatching her crystal golem.

Their walk to the research building was short but Clark was keeping an eye out for anything that might happen. He wanted to ensure that people knew not to mess with Maria or his group at all. "So you managed to survive whatever training Alexander had for you. How was it?" Clark heard Doc coming up beside them as they walked inside the building. He had just returned from a staff meeting.

"I had to handle the small earth golem dungeon. I found a crystal golem egg." Clark pointed to Isa who was still carrying the egg.

"Very good. That is a tough dungeon to train in since it requires a lot of precision. Also a tough best to grow. Very worthwhile when at adulthood though." His eyes sparkled while seeing the rare golem egg. Such a beast would be great to list as one that a young researcher has studied.

"Ella!?" Maria knocked on the door. The sight that greeted them was a very organized lab with perfectly clean surfaces, multiple shelves that had been reorganized, and a perfectly displayed set of materials.

Ella was in the center of the room surrounded by the wisps that she had trained using her wisp spirit beast. They looked very different. They had denser energy. They were larger. They had a feeling of elemental strength around them.

"What have you been working on?" Clark saw the many journals all over the table and glanced at Ella. she had fallen asleep standing up at the table. "Ella?" With a soft tap on the shoulder, she opened her eyes and recognized the rest of her group with Doc.

"Hm? oh…I have been working a lot. My theory is complete. Just as you suggested." What Clark had already begun to grasp was not complicated. It was the theory of wisps fusing together to create a stronger wisp that could grow in to unique beasts. This was a natural progression.

However, none of them expected Ella to take the many wisps she had helped gain elemental typings and fuse them to create only a handful of unique wisps.

"You have been working hard" Clark immediately grabbed a blank journal and started potential growth plans. He knew that Ella would be waiting for his input so he could not slack off. She had worked hard and deserved his full effort.
