Spirit Taming

Chapter 156: Drawn In

Chapter 156: Drawn In

The morning in Star City was surprisingly beautiful. Because of the many water pools within the city and outside, the rising sunlight reflected in brilliant orange and purples. This made the starfish beasts that were around also reflect this light. Compared to Nova academy which was more forest than anything else, it was a mystifying difference.

"I could move here!" Maria was having the time of her life exploring the pools along the rod. Many small common beasts lived in them. Most were not harmful in any way and any that were would be captured or defeated by the guards' beasts.

"I wonder how many dungeons are around the city or in the city to make this all possible." The water was coming from somewhere underwater. The city had to have been built on a large dungeon that constantly flowed water out of it.

"That would explain the hundred tentacle starfish. If there is a large dungeon underneath the city it could have super rare materials and beasts." Part of Maria wanted to explore such a place. To see if it was real. Unfortunately. A place like that was way out of their league right now.

"We should explore around our academy more. I have a feeling that when we get back there will be some form of exam." Being here was much better than the academy. Just walking around so early in the morning was helping Clark add more materials to his list of knowledge.

Many merchants were sending or receiving orders. It gave the two of them a great chance to see how things worked along with what was being sold or received. Some of the merchants were openly trading with other merchants for the day. An activity that merchants had as a perk between each other. Even the biggest rivals had deals to help each other in some form or fashion.

Just when Clark was about to ask Maria where she might want to explore first, he caught her standing still staring at a glass window. The shopkeeper was sweeping outside but that was not what she had caught on to. "We need to go in here." Even Lit seemed to be enticed to go inside.

"Excuse me, Miss? Are you open for visitors?" Clark didn't hesitate. He knew that Maria felt some form of energy. That was the logical explanation.

"Oh! Of course. I never get guests this early but I can let you look at things." The older woman seemed very glad to have guests so early. "It's always slower in the mornings. Then I get those kids trying to convince me to sell them things at a discount. You two don't look like you are from Star academy though."

"No miss, we are from Nova academy. We are visiting for an assignment. We also saw some good lectures about new beast growth paths. Now we are exploring the city." Clark was polite as ever but Maria was already looking at the window display.

"Dear? Ahh, I see. That is one of the more interesting items that has come across my little shop. It's called the spirit sapphire ring. Not many people are compatible with it but those that are usually try and get me to sell them it for a discount. I haven't let them break me though." The older shopkeeper flexed her arm and laughed softly.

'Spirit sapphire ring- ultra rare

This is an ultra rare gem from a unique dungeon with strong spiritual beasts residing within it. Normally the gem would be used for a beast's growth. This spirit sapphire has been crafted in to a ring. It has been made in to an ideal material for the opening of a unique spiritual based taming space.

This can only be done with someone that has a stronger bond with a spiritual beast. There are also other requirements revolving around the potential of the beast that would reside within the taming space being created. When these requirements are met, the ring uses its energy to catch that being's attention.'

"I don't care what the price is. It would be beneficial for my partner here to have it. She is trying her hand at opening a unique taming space. We had hope we would find a few good materials in the city. Now we have been proven correct!" Clark was adding sugar to every word. He knew that the older shopkeeper seemed to value honesty and politeness.

It was just the way she acted that made Clark feel this way.

"Well, then I could definitely sell it to you for ten gold. It is a higher price but well worth it. I doubt there is another one in this city. The man that sold it to me said he found it in a dungeon that sat in the middle of the ocean! Can you believe that?"

"Yes. I can. I feel like it has an ocean within it the way it is so blue." Maria was nearly entranced with the ring.

"Ah, to be young. I used to explore a little when I was your age before I opened this shop. I'll tell you what. Give me eight gold coins and I can part with it." The shopkeeper melted seeing how honest Maria was.

"Thank you very much!" Clark handed over nine gold coins. He added the extra in good faith which made the shopkeeper smile brilliantly.

"How about I tell you two about a good place to meditate with that ring? There's a nice water pool near here. Not many people go there anymore since the area is full of older people like me. There's a single willow tree that helps relax people." The shopkeeper pulled a map of the city out and pointed out an older portion of the city.

"We really appreciate it. This will help me a lot." Maria thanked the shopkeeper as they left. She was excited to have found such an item. She had been waiting to find something as the core for her taming space opening. She felt that if she meditated all day with Li, then she would be able to open the spiritual sea taming space.

"You two have a great day now! Enjoy your date." Clark turned red hearing the farewell of the shopkeeper. Luckily, Maria had already walked out the door and made way for the pool they had been told about.

While Maria was looking at the ring and Lit was floating around with a great deal of energy, Clark was calming himself down. They had just barely made it to the early morning market and found something that Maria needed greatly. Even more, it was a major step for her to stay in line with Clark. She was even working on hatching her Midnight eel too.

What snapped Clark out of his amazement, was the new amazement he found looking at the peaceful scene in front of him. The pool that the shopkeeper had sent them to was a large pool that could be called a pond. The water was perfectly still with white grasses growing out of the water. Pink flowers blooming at their highest point.

The willow swayed in a breeze that didn't seem to exist over a flat piece of stone. It was perfect for looking in to the crystal clear water to meditate. This hidden spot in Star city that would make anyone want to return.
