Chapter 154: Bodyguard Beasts
Chapter 154: Bodyguard Beasts
"Please state your business here tonight. The mayor of this city does not accept unwanted guests." The attendant that answered the door was not trying to be flat out rude. He had been told to expect guests but they would have the Rolly family symbol on them. He did not see that symbol.
"I am Isa Rolly. Here with my business associates to meet with the elected lord of this city. Please notify him that I have arrived." Isa's personality became much more refined. Her business side kicked in while flashing her family crest.
"Of course Miss Rolly. I will do so as soon as I lead you to the hall in which you will be working with the master of the house." The change in attitude from the attendant was expected as well.
"There are five guards behind us already." Maria and Clark had been watching the men behind them. Maria counted but did not see a single beast.
"They are most likely the ones that need the guidance to strengthen their beasts. They don't appear hostile." Just as Clark guessed, the guards followed them in to the room.
It was a short while before the door opened again and the mayor of Star city walked in. his face held a calm smile while a slight surprise. "Your friend Phantom did not say that all of you were students. Interesting."
"Does that change how you see us? We are responsible for the strength that Phantom has in a way. He was able to show us a unique beast and we were able to guide it. Just because we are young does not mean we lack the means. Or do you expect a member of my family to begin a beast evaluation business that will fail?" Isa smiled sweetly as she rebutted the Mayor's discomfort.
"You and your brother share a unique trait when doing business. Very firm. It is refreshing. I will trust you but wish for you to tell me what you make of the item I won. The item that I plan to put up as the contribution for the Star academy prize for the top student who will participate in the academy battles."
It was impressive to see that Isa smoothly kept the mayor on topic while also using Phantom as a way to gain some more points. Clark knew that he was actually phantom but everyone else in the world saw this as an experienced tamer hiding their identity. Guiding such a person came with some respect alone.
"That should be the treant heart. It has the unique ability to allow a plant type beast to travel as a normal beast. It won't have to remain rooted to the ground. It could make some powerful water and earth beasts that live around here even more powerful." Ella listed off the notes she had taken.
"Is that journal all recorded materials?" The mayor caught this easily.
"Yes, every material that was auctioned, whether we purchase it or not, was recorded here for my notes. I may need them one day while breeding beasts. Clark is the one that gives added details. He has an impeccable memory for the things he has read. Maria is the fastest scribe that can label my sketches." Ella gave credit where credit was due. It also showed the fluidity of their business ventures.
"Impressive. I see what you are planning to do. I can only imagine that you will have all of nova academy under your control within the year. Now let me see what you can do. I prefer to find hidden talent with bright ideas." The mayor was known as a man that didn't hesitate to let fate guide him. It was just part of being in power.
"My guards have the same beasts to protect me. I have five personal guards all with mud wolves. They are a beast that I procured personally through my connections. They are rare in this area but are more common a few moles out near a unique dungeon. I require them to be stronger after a small incident. But I lack the reasoning to make that happen because they are more rare in the area."
The guards each released one from their taming space. The mud wolves were called this because of the earth and water affinity but also their brown fur that resembled drying mud. Clark knew that they were not actually made of mud.
"Clark, I will sketch while you decide on the potential materials." Maria followed Ella's plan while Isa kept chatting with the mayor. Clark was already analyzing the beasts.
'Mud Wolf- uncommon
The mud wolf is a higher species of beast that grew from a mud hound. They have tougher fur and faster agility due to the earth and water typing respectively. Their strengths allow them to defend in the blink of an eye and survive many hits. They are considered extremely loyal.
The best way for them to grow is in a pack setting. If they are left alone they will become lonely and eventually lose their growth. If they have peers to battle with, they can use their energy to promote an alpha. When an alpha is established they will have a group growth spurt.
The materials to facilitate this are high numbers of water and earth crystals spread evenly in a large field for them to absorb while training. To get a pack of mud wolves to grow in to elite mud wolves with a single alpha mud wolf, it can take a week to two weeks of constant training.'
As Maria wrote what Clark whispered to her, she changed some of the wording to make it more readable. To make sure that things were clearly set up for the guards to follow the growth plans.
As they finished and added the sketches from Ella to the notes, Ella copied the materials and growth plan. This was similar to other pack beasts, but with a unique form of growth that required one of the wolves to become stronger than the others.
"This is almost identical to the snow wolves I saw when I was at the last conference! That woman had an entire pack defending her!" The mayor clearly had the mud wolves as guards for another reason that he had just let slip. However, he had not understood the path they needed to grow just as strong as the wolves he had seen.
"I can easily make this happen. I will send a fair payment to your academy upon completion. Take this letter of promise. Even if this does not work I will send a fee for your time." The mayor was caught in his glee. He would have what he wanted.
"Before we leave, can I ask you one thing?" Clark waited until the mayor nodded. "Can I see your beast? I want to learn as much as I can about beasts that are unique to this area before I leave. I need to record many before I can call myself a beast researcher."
"Now that is the attitude of a student who will always come out on top. You may look at my beauty in the garden on the walk out. She has been resting in her pool all day." The mayor gave them a letter marked with a start seal. It was a promise of payment after three weeks. Enough time for the mud wolves to grow and a merchant to bring their payment.
"Thank you for this opportunity to do business. Please feel free to share our contact with others. We will be in your lovely city for another two days." Isa left at that note leading the others out of the mansion. An attendant motioned for them to head through the garden path on the way off the property.
