Spirit Taming

Chapter 152: Sibling Lecture

Chapter 152: Sibling Lecture

"I won!" Ella had managed to come out on top with her rapier. In the end, she had her wisp create a separation using earth to put her directly against the boy in charge of the swamp thing. With the wind wisp keeping it at bay with the flame wisp, she had been able to fight one on one.

"It was well deserved. I didn't know that a rapier was so tough to dodge." The tamer she had faced was a good sport and more. He felt that he had learned how to defend a lot better since he couldn't rely on his swamp thing.

"Nice battle. It lasted the entire length of my battles. It was really good training." Crim was still energetic next to Clark but Clark knew it was just for show. He was actually able to sense the tiredness Crim had underneath the act.

"Here come Isa and Maria. They look like they did well too." Ella had calmed down and the boys that he had been watching her battle had decided to call it quits since it didn't seem like anyone else around wanted to train.

"How did things go?" Clark could tell that Maria had struggled. She was still having Lit heal her leg where the water hound had managed to get ahold of.

"Agility will be my greatest goal. For now." Maria tried to sound tough but she was clearly upset that she had been the target of more than a few attacks. Her speed had not been enough to dodge them.

"I was able to make a flame wall. The ice wall was harder to do last second." Isa had a few scratches as well. Her attempts to use closer combat magic skills had proved to be a greater challenge than she thought after reading through the guidebook she had received from Clark.

"It takes time to learn a new style and to improve your physical fitness. Just think about how you can improve now for tomorrow." Clark's uplifting words were nearly ignored by Maria who was running through the battle in her head over and over.

"Maria is going to have a step ahead of us when she gets her other beast. She has been training with you for a long time. That means she has a better chance of being the second in class." Isa knew that Maria was on par with her already. But when Maria had another beast helping her strengthen her body, then Isa would fall behind.

"That's because you have focused on business for a longer portion of your life. Maria and Clark were able to use their time to improve their physique." Ella had already accepted this and had decided to improve at her own pace. "I will be doing a few experiments with my wisps when the time is right." Ella had already decided to contract more wisps along with her spiritual wisp.

"Let's head back to the lecture. It should be time now." Clark knew they were cutting it close. He wanted them to have as much battle training as possible.

"I wish that people didn't shy away. There were some tough tamers that left when they saw us here. They didn't want to give up their strengths. I bet they thought us to be spies." Ella had noticed the group of tamers watching them before leaving. They refused to show any hidden cards they held.

"We should have expected that. Star academy has a good education program. Plenty of combat training and a fluid economy. Materials are not hard to find here." Clark made a mental note to face stronger beasts when the student tournaments came. Star academy clearly had beasts at higher growth levels.

"I managed to face a high water sprite. The boy I fought had tamed it to that level. It had greater water manipulation that he used to enhance his attacks and even add a defense." Isa went on about her battle.

The four were ankle to share some details before they reached the lecture hall doors which were about to close for the lecture. "It's good to see all of you again in good shape. I hope battle training went well." The same attendant greeted them with a worried look. However, she saw that Lit was healing any scratches already. She was very surprised to see it.

"I'm glad we made it here. I am interested in the patterned caterpillar." Ella already had her notebooks out and ready.

"This hall is huge!" Maria was amazed by the large audience in the lecture hall. There were many students here along with some merchants as well. It just went to prove how large the careers of the sibling researchers was.

"Thank you all for attending. Today my dear brother and I are going to reveal the breakthrough we had in one of the most common feed beasts we have. The patterned caterpillar. Now, most people know it as bait, feed, or another worthless beast. That has all been a falsehood."

Doc J presented a single patterned caterpillar. It was larger because it had been fed well above what a normal patterned caterpillar could. Clark resisted the urge to read the analysis. He wanted to treat this like any other lecture. Challenge his mind.

"Normally a patterned caterpillar will go in to a cocoon form like this." Doc came out on stage and placed down the cocoon. However, with the proper feeding and rigorous training, this is possible."

The cocoons shown were radically different. One was fat and had an excess of silk around it. The other was taller and had tighter wound silk. It was clearly from a more controlled beast. One that had trained to use its silk better.

"This was done through feeding it after tougher training. The training method my brother is famous for developing is called natural enemy training. Have the beast you wish to become stronger train against a tamer best from the same environment. Particularly, a beast that would normally eat it. This promotes a fight or flight effect that can be grown."

"After that, we used a unique feeding method my sister developed. We did not just give full materials. We supplemented basic foods with rare materials in small pieces. It is called acclimated feeding. Slowly increase the saturation of energy constantly until the beasts' body has been over saturated."

Both of the Docs moved apart as the curtains on this stage flapped side to side. "That is how we were able to birth a new growth plan for the patterned caterpillar. Welcome the crystal wing butterfly and the shadow wing butterfly!"

'Crystal wing butterfly- rare

The crystal wing butterfly has consumed light elemental materials over a long time. This has changed the structure of its body to that of a light refracting crystal. It is able to heal beasts in a larger area around it and also use the sharpness of its wings to fight other beasts. The best way to grow this beast…

Shadow wind butterfly- rare

The shadow win butterfly has consumed dark materials in bulk over a long period of time. It has led to the development of the rare darkness typing within its body. The wings have allowed it to float through the shadows and fight like an assassin. The beasts normally preying upon it have now become its prey since it is now carnivorous.

There are additional added bleeding effects from its attacks that would normally not be present. To learn how to better utilize the shadows it is better that the beast…'

Clark was amazed reading about these two opposing growth plans that produced amazing beasts well above what was normal for a patterned caterpillar. They even had further growth forms that could be explored.
