Chapter 151: Not So Tough Guy
Chapter 151: Not So Tough Guy
"There's no way a little thing like that can…" The tough guy act had fallen away. The boy Clark was facing found the fear that came with seeing a dragon breath attack.
"You called my Crimson a little lizard? I don't see many lizards that can breathe flames like that. But your Ape can decide if this battle is over." Clark watched as Crim stepped forward toward the bone knuckled ape.
There was a hesitation to keep battling before the ape found its courage again. It had still managed to injure this beast in front of it. So what if there were flames now? It could dodge like the last time.
With a screech of battle, the ape jumped up and clasped its hands. The hammer fist came down causing a sickening crack on crim's front shoulder. Crim could tell that major damage was dealt, Unfortunately for the ape, Crim was a slime. He could still move freely.
The closeness allowed Crim to whip his tail in front of him causing the tough scales to slash across the ape's chest. This was the second bleeding wound for the ape. The second wound that caused it to hesitate in its next attack. The second time that Crim did not let up.
With incredible speed, Crim's wound was moved back in to place as if it was not there. "I feel like you should know. Crim is a slime dragon. You have done nothing to him so far. Just annoyed him." Clark knew well that the damage was helping Crim learn limits for himself.
The scales that Crim changed his slime body in to were not all powerful. That was why he needed to strengthen his slime and make it denser. That way he could have better defenses while in battle or change his shape to a larger size.
The tough guy watched Crim move limberly around as his ape was slashed. The punches that cracked and broke scales easily healing while the ape became slower and slower. Soon unable to use its boxer's bounce and even losing chunks of fur. "This is your chance to give up. Or else.." Clark was not a monster, he would offer this to his opponent.
While Crim stepped forward bearing fangs, the boy called back his bone knuckled ape. The ape retreated in to the taming space without hesitation. "Fine. you win this time. Just remember that you were lucky." The boy turned and walked away from Clark. The entire training area had just witnessed one of the best get beaten so easily.
"Alright, next challenger!" Clark knew that Crim was still energized and ready to go. He was in a growth period and needed all the battle experience he could get.
Meanwhile, Ella was seeding her wisp ahead of her while she ran to support. The wisp she had was her wisp controlling others. She had only allowed for a few to follow her in to Star City. The reason Clark wanted to have her fight a large tough opponent was because it would resist the many different wisps' attacks.
"Call the earth wisp to create an earth cage. Then the flame wisp to bring the heat. Have the wind wisp break the vines attacking me!" Ella gave order after order. Her wisps floated above her head as she mobbed. The attacks were sent spiritually to the other wisps.
"You are a lot faster than I thought!" The boy that Calrk had befriended was using a two handed sword. His swamp thing acted as his defender. That was how they had paired up in battle to make sure that they were both protected.
The vines of the swamp thing whipped out over and over but were cut away by the wind. The ground rumbled as spikes of earth formed a wall so that the swamp thing could not retreat or move side to side.
In a burst of flames, the heat began to rise around them. The swamp thing easily ignored the heat but the tamer could not. It was to affect their mentality. A person could only handle so much. However, the large draw on spiritual energy for the wisps was the issue. The problem that Ella had not figured out how to combat.
Having her main wisps be completely reliant on spiritual energy was not good. It was using too much to help the other wisps that were not even contracted but just following the orders of Ella's wisp.
"Ella might lose this battle." Isa was worried watching this. They had not recognized the glaring flaw in Ella's battle style.
"She needs a lot of stored energy. The wisps need to move on to another form to store their energies better. But if they can, they would be extremely adept elemental beasts." Maria understood the positives and negatives of wisps. She felt that she would want to contract one one day.
"Are you going to battle someone?" Isa asked this seemingly out of nowhere, yet, when Maria looked over it was clear that a few students had understood the trend. The Star academy tamers would gladly challenge the Nova academy visitors.
"I guess we will go and battle it out." Maria walked toward a girl with a water hound standing near her. This would be an agile opponent that helped her and Lit push themselves. She could also try and understand how such a beast moved. The way she would have a better understanding of agility when the Midnight eel hatched.
The outlier was Isa, she didn't see any opponent she was confident in. She had some new magical theories for battle but that was all. She would need an opponent that was able to resist them in order to fight better.
"You have a flame sprite, right? Care to put it up against my water sprite? She has just grown in to a high water sprite. I need to see my resistance to fire." The boy that came up had a larger water sprite floating behind him looking curiously at the opposite of it. Flames were not what it understood.
"Sure, but I have multiple beasts. I will use them." Isa had to train with both her ice maiden and flame sprite. It had to be that way. She would never forsake either one.
"Fine by me." The boy stepped back to battle right here. He had an ax that coated itself with water along the blade. It appeared that the high water sprite acted as his supporter. A perfect beast to help him deal real damage to beasts he would not normally be able to harm.
"Then we are ready." The flames and the ice wrapped Isa as they had before. The tamers that saw this were stunned. They had not seen the Rolly family technique to let a beast fuse with their body. It was just something that had been talked about in rumors. Now they were seeing it firsthand.
When Clark finished off his second opponent, he looked over to see everyone was in a battle. Ella was facing her weakness, Isa was fighting her opposite, and Maria was challenging her agility. They had all followed their goals to be stronger without any worry. "One more hour of this and we will be stronger."
