Chapter 145: Material Acquisition

"Sir, your items have been placed in storage containers." The attendant that visited room nine was bowing respectfully before closing the door.

"You really love your sister, hm?" Doc had been sitting in room four with Clyde for some time. They had some independent businesses.

"I love that she held that information back. She's really going to make it being with her team. I also paid a small price for those eggs. I have buyers that would pay that price for one. The best part is I managed to show the true colors of that other room." Clyde smiled with evil glee. He couldn't wait to see a real bidding war.

"The next item we will be auctioning is a beast egg brought from a nearby dungeon. One that has not been hunted in for many years. This egg is unidentified and will be considered as a rare beast above others. The starting price is one hundred and fifty gold."

The unknown nature of the egg was why the price was low but the location was why it was three digits high. "Clark?" Ella looked at Clark. She couldn't tell what the black and white spotted egg was. She had never seen it before. The pattern was too odd to be a common beast.

"People will bid on it just because they want to be the first to raise an unknown beast egg. Only the person that procured it might know what it is." Clark was calm as he spoke, "Or I can just take a closer look."

When Clark moved to the glass and looked carefully, he felt that he was being baited. It was definitely Isa's brother that was auctioning this one. He had to have been because he was the one that had gone to a dungeon to carry materials with his business. It was the only possibility.

'Midnight eel- Ultra rare

The Midnight eel lives in the shadows. They are not actually a water elemental type beast which will cause many to be surprised. Their attributes are darkness and light which oppose one another. They can blend in to the shadows while using light skills to attack.

They have extremely agile speed and also very sharp teeth. They have great eyesight but prefer to use the shadows to sense their prey. They are weak against opponents with high sensing ability because their ambush can be found. The best materials for their growth are…'

"Maria, how do you feel about having an opposing elemental beast as your second beast. It won't be for defense either. It is for assassin like attacks and it can hide in your shadow to protect your back. It brings meaning to the phrase; the best defense is offense."

There was a little confusion on Maria's face. She wasn't sure if this would be the wisest move. She would have to face head on attacks at some point. She had to consider the fact that she might not be able to escape an attack.

"If it is a beast that can hide in shadows it may have a skill or form that allows you to do the same." Ella pointed this out. She had found that some of the shadow or darkness type beasts could do such things. They were highly sought after by some large families for their children. They made good beasts to assist in escapes when fights broke out.

"Room nine has bid three hundred gold coins. An amazing bid right away!" The announcer forced Maria to choose. In her panic, she slapped a hand on the glass and bid without saying anything else.

"I bid four hundred!"

"And we have a rebuttal from room six! What a showdown.

"Room nine with four hundred and ten"

"And back again, room six with five hundred. Going once…twice…sold to room six!" Maria quietly sat down with flushed cheeks. She was feeling the heat from adrenaline while bidding on the egg.

"Clark, tell me what I just bought." There was a little worry in Maria's voice but none that said she regretted what she just did.

"Your new beast is a Midnight eel. It can hide in your shadow and will be able to attack using light elemental attacks. It should also fit in the taming space you want to open." This was the main factor in why Calrk had asked Maria if she wanted this beast.

"A good choice." Ella and Isa both agreed before they watched another few beast eggs of different identified beasts get sold. None were worth looking at. So much so that Clark didn't take the time to comment. Instead, Maria and Clark just spoke about the egg's details.

Now for a short change in pace, we have the materials coming out before we end with the usual special auction items. The materials will be set up in silent auction format. Out of fifty lots, you can place bids from your room. Be ready to read the rune crystal glass!" The announcement caused a change in the room's glass.

The group could still see the materials being brought out in their unique containers. However, the glass has become covered in glowing magical numbers with the names of the materials. They were made this way for the VIP guests to tap the number and place a bid. Those on the first floor had to speak with attendants that were privy to what the highest bid currently was.

This was an easier format for the auction house while also promoting a lot of bidding for items. Many people would bid multiple times on multiple items. It sped things along. "Clark, Ella, you two are in charge of the unique materials for our beasts. I will buy in bulk the materials we might be able to sell back home." Isa had work to do.

"I will keep a record of the gold we have." Maria pulled out a piece of paper and began to scribble down when Isa mentioned things. She had already begun placing bets.

"Large water crystal attached to a water geode. Buy it for fifty gold." Ella saw a material she wanted immediately. Isa obliged.

'Blood turtle shell- rare

The blood turtle is a unique beast that consumes the blood of other beasts to strengthen its shell. It is one of the few carnivorous turtles in the water type beast family. The shell has abundant life energy and is extremely valuable for any beast that can use healing skills. It can be made in to a medicine…'

"Buy that blood turtle shell for a hundred gold. It is perfect for Lit." Clark didn't stop there. He saw more.

"Pearl grape seed- uncommon

The pearl grape seed is not very rare. One plant can produce a fruit with a hundred seeds. Growing the seed is the challenge. The pearl grape can make a water type or water type variant beast much more powerful. It can increase the speed at which the beast absorbs water or water variant energy.'

"Buy the pearl grape seeds. I can find someone to grow them later for the ice maiden." Clark's analysis was proving to be ideal for this sort of auction. He also relished in the information he was learning. That was until his eyes fell on the single most expensive material there.

That was somehow placed much lower than it should have been in his eyes. But that was because Clark knew how to use it due to the system's help. Other people would see it as worthless.
