Chapter 144: Crazy Bid

Chapter 144: Crazy Bid

"I almost thought that you forgot the eggs. And you remembered to use my name. That should even the playing field between my brother and me." Isa was very happy that Clark had done this. She wanted to ensure that she made a name here and was able to begin spreading rumors.

"If we can steal business from Star city and make it travel to the academy, we can make much more money. Then we can afford rare materials." Ella knew that with a steady gold income she could experiment more and raise better beasts.

"I feel like gold coins will flow more once we have taken a few clients. If we manage to attract anyone tonight, we should try to do a few analyses and growth plans." Ella wasn't sure what they would all feel about this. It was risky since they had low experience and not much of a name.

"We will go with the floor. Let's focus up, here come some weapons." Clark saw the first item being brought out. His eyes focused on the silver shield made with an overlapping feather pattern on it.

"It's pretty, but I don't think that would work." Maria felt that a shield like that could be broken easily.

'Silver hawk shield- rare

The silver hawk is a rare beast that has silver within its body. They will live near silver ore veins and consume the silver while also absorbing the unique metal energies. It will also eat naturally growing wind elemental fruits to maintain its ability to fly. When they perish, their bones and feathers can be forged in to light armors with decent defenses.

They excel in elemental resistances over physical.'

"It's mainly for elemental resistances. We should skip it because we wouldn't need such a thing." Clark wanted the shield for Ella, but he wanted something more for physical attacks. Ella might be able to survive elemental attacks with her wisps protecting her, not physical.

"What about that one?" Maria pointed to the long sword that was being brought out next.

"Do any use for long swords." Clark knew that he had no plans to learn how to use them.

"No, I like my rapier. I won't take another one easily."

"Same, I don't want to learn how to use a sword. If I have to take up a weapon I want something else." Isa was still stubborn. She used her magic and wanted to learn how to use it in close combat instead of relying on weapons.

"I know you want to use your magic that comes from your beasts. That's fine, but what if they can't use their skills to help you'" Clark was going to press on this issue but Maria had beaten him to it.

"I will learn to fight without a weapon. I don't want a weak mage body like others with my unique ability." This was a bold statement. One that would not be easy to achieve.

"Then you are going to bid on that." Clark pointed at the fifth item being brought out.

'Scaled gauntlets- rare

The scaled gauntlets are made from a myriad of lizard scales. The reason being that each scale was carefully selected by the forge master that created them to serve as the best defense at each point. There is a special mechanism that allows claws to protrude from the fingertips.

They are very tough and can block most weapons easily. They are considered a rare item and not higher due to the fact that they were made to carry a rune carving. Unfortunately, the forge master died before completing this item. This fact is unknown to most.'

Clark was surprised that such a piece of useful information was given to him by the system. he already trusted that the system had some way to know these things, but this was almost too much.

"The scaled gauntlets are the last works of the famous Lizard forge master. Please start the bidding for four gold coins!" The price sounded low but it appeared that this was the deal because the audience didn't seem interested.

"No one seems to want them. They must not want close combat weapons like that. They would prefer the swords or shields that were fought over." Clark smiled when Isa touched the glass and placed the bid.

"Going once…Twice…And sold to VIP room 6. Congratulations!" The announcement made a few people roll their eyes. They were not happy that this item had been on stage for so long.

"Now, we have a special last minute entry. The beast eggs portion was going to be later, however, we are too excited to have such a rare treat." The audience was instantly attracted to this.

"The Rolly family has blessed us with not only their esteemed child Clyde, but also their youngest daughter. Isa Rolly has brought her highly esteemed beast appraisal business here to sell some of the highest quality beast eggs she personally procured." The announcer talked it up with more than Clark expected. It seemed he was trying to illicit more gold for their fee.

"The first batch are these sand worm eggs. They come with potential growth plans, a beast analysis, and even some secret details to assist the tamer! What a wonder!" the announcer showed the eggs which Ella had personally cleaned up to shine slightly in the vibrant lights being focused from the rune crystals around the stage.

"But that is not all. Through extreme wit and in depth knowledge, this spectacular business has brought us a very rare bloodline. Ancient sandworm eggs. They even have the potential to fully awaken their bloodline and grow in to much more powerful beasts! They have the same information with them which will double the asking price! It's a beast appraisal full service experience!"

Hearing the Rolly family name brought more trust. Many in the audience were stricken with awe seeing the eggs come to the stage with the papers attached. They had not expected such a surprise. It was great for any of their children or themselves. Having an ancient bloodline would bring them some fame, let alone if they raised it properly.

"Let us begin-"

"I will take all the ancient bloodline sandworms for ten thousand gold." the audience fell silent. The entire room was shocked. A massive sum of money for the eggs of an ancient bloodline.

"What an unprecedented first bid! Package deal for ten thousand gold!" The announcer struggled before he recovered and jumped right to finish this. The gold was more than expected.

"No, twenty thousand gold."

"Room four has outbid room nine!" The announcer was shocked yet again. But it was the last bid. The first bid had thrown those in room nine for a loop. It was to burn away the gold of their competitors. "Once…twice…sold to room nine!" The announcer finished the sale quickly. he was not going to miss such a chance.

"Now for the sandworm eggs!" The rest of the eggs went for at most a hundred gold when it came down to the last egg. The others were much less.

"Who bought them…?" Isa wanted to know who had so much gold.

"It doesn't matter. We just got permission to buy something amazing." Clark smirked. As he wrote down the total number of gold they had to bid with. Over twenty thousand plus the other eggs and what they all had pooled together from their savings made them close to twenty seven thousand gold give or take a few hundred. It was more than any of them expected to have at this point in life.
