Chapter 146: Highest Bidder

Chapter 146: Highest Bidder

"So many bids and only a few moments left! Please place your final bids before the bidding ends!" The announcer made sure that everyone knew that things were about to end for the materials they had showcased.

Isa had been bidding and snapping things up like a fiend. Many of the smaller more common items were in bulk which she needed more than the rare items. However, when Clark told her to bid on something she would.

This had led to much more gold being spent. However, there was one item Clark was still focused on. One item that Ella and he had both focused on and wanted.

'Treant heart- Ultra rare

The treant heart is the core wood from a treant beast. They are a rare forest beast that has the potential to grow and become a treant king or forest queen. If the heart is consumed by a plant type beast, they will gain the ability to move without being rooted to the spot.'

The description was simple and clear. An item that would be invaluable to any tamer with a plant type beast that could not otherwise move. It was also the reason why Treants had become rarer and rarer in forests. They had been hunted to near extinction years ago because of this.

The efforts of certain tamer groups in the larger forests of the continent had ensured that the treants were bred and kept safe. Some of them were even given awards for their efforts from every single city allowing them to act as the single judge of those that committed any crime toward the treants in those forests.

"That is a treant heart?" Isa eventually became privy to what Ella and Clark had. She was surprised to see the item she knew as more than a rarity. But she immediately came to her senses and bid on it with a significant margin.

"You need to keep the prices down. We are getting out of hand." Maria had been recording the prices they paid. So far many of the items were theirs. But not all of them had remained low in price. The water crystals in bulk had actually been the roughest bid. Many bidders had gone for them since they were a common material that was widely used.

"Understood." Isa did her best but the bid for the treant heart was changing again and again. This was the item that could have been auctioned normally for a major price. "That room nine keeps trying to steal it. Then there is room three out of nowhere that just bid too much!"

What was worrying Isa was that room three had shown up to bid against them for the first time. The room had not opposed them yet but now they were. It was as if they were waiting for the moment. "Just try your best. None of our beasts need that treant heart. I just thought it would be the best material to bring back a major client.

It's so rare." Clark made sure that Isa wasn't under a lot of pressure. They could do without it.

"No, I want it. I might have a plant type beast one day. It would fit in to my family's technique. It might be the single thing I need." Isa had ideas of what her third and fourth beast would be now that she read the elemental mage guide book that Clark had given her. She wanted to ensure she was prepared for when she found a potential beast.

"That is the closing of this portion of the auction!" The announcer slammed a wooden gavel to bring attention back before people tried to bid again. "We will send the items to their respective rooms or they can be picked up at the front desks!" The audience wanted more. This had been fun for a lot of them and they wanted to leave with more items.

"Please, this is not the end. We still have the estates to sell tonight along with the last material that we have been holding for just this moment!" The room went silent when the single material was brought out.

'Rainbow pearl- legendary

The rainbow pearl is a single pearl from a radiant oyster. The radiant oyster lives in an environment full of dangerous eats. Their shells are nearly impossible to break making them the best materials for small armors. The pearl has extremely concentrated light and water energies.

Some believe that the rainbow pearl can cause instant growth in some light and water type beasts. This has even been shown before in front of study groups. Those that give this to a beast will have a guaranteed chance of awakening a new skill.'

"Clark, that's a very good material." Isa knew that the bidding was about to be crazy.

"I know. I have heard of it. Water and light energies in that pearl can go a long way. But Maria won't let us bid on it. We would be forced to overpay even if no one else bid." Clark saw that Maria was already shaking her head. She knew they have only two thousand gold left after their buying spree a few moments ago.

"We can all watch and learn." Ella was recording the details of the rainbow pearl. She accepted that there would be materials they could not have. It was inevitable. They had gained a lot from their sales but that was still not enough to fight a powerhouse that would buy this item.

"The bid has reached five thousand gold!" The announcer was already taking the bids and the group watched it climb instantly.

After just a minute of bidding, the price had risen to thirty thousand gold. A price that only those with deep pockets could hope to afford. "How did room three manage to get that much gold!" Isa was jealous. She wanted to be making more money even in the lowest of the low denominations if it meant she could one day bid so much for something she wanted.

"I'm not sure, but I sent Devi just now to check it out," Clark smirked. He had not said anything about losing his own curiosity. He wanted to know just who was so rich. He had also seen out of the corner of his eyes two familiar pain in the necks walking in the auction house earlier.

Moving through the halls was easy for Devi. all eyes were on the massive bid that had just come through. Even the employees and guards were distracted. By the time that Devi reached the VIP room three, the bid was about to be placed as the winner.

Through the window in the door, Devi spotted an older man with multiple attendants around him. There were pins on his suit jacket that clearly showed him as the highest ranking individual in Star City. The lord of Star city himself had been bidding on this!

Before Devi moved on, he heard a familiar whining voice of annoyance. A familiar voice coming from the room right next to them. Room two.

"Of course the room next to us has some hermit that hides away all his gold! How could we win against that?" The first Cain family member was yelling back and forth with the other. They had both just lost multiple bids and were ready to storm out of the auction because they did not have much to show.

In the nature of the moment and seeing that he was in the perfect position, Devi entered their room unnoticed. Not a single one of the two arguing Cain family members noticed as Devi touched the glass on the window prompting the announcer to take the surprise bid from room two. The surprise bid that was moving up in increments of one thousand gold.

"Room two! Thirty one thousand gold!" the announcer shouted out, making the crowd go wild. It was a last second bid that caused a lot of trouble.

When the two Cain family brothers heard this they dropped their jaws to the floor. Soon that looked grew to terror as they felt the pressure of what had just been said. As they tried to grab their things and rush from the auction house. They could never pay that much gold!

"Devi? Why is it that I feel like you have done something bad?" Clark could feel it the moment that Devi returned. He knew that Devi had taken a little extra time but couldn't think of why. "And I know you are trying to tell me that room three was someone important. I can make friends with them if I take a walk. But what about room two?"

The four watched as Devi turned invisible again, hiding from the accusation. The slight mischievous laughter made them all wonder what was going on. "We need to take a walk. The estate auction doesn't concern us." Isa closed things up and knew that they were already delivered the items from the attendants just now before Devi returned.

It was a chance to catch the important person from room three and make a connection.
