Spirit Taming

Chapter 125: Water Fairies

Chapter 125: Water Fairies

The blue light was coming from multiple beasts. They were all different forms of water elemental beasts that had similar bodies. Some were in the shapes of birds while others mimicked butterflies and other insects. They were using their abilities to move through the forest around capturing the starlight and releasing blue glows.

"The beasts here are fairly peaceful as long as you are respectful. Because the water fairies here are some of the strongest young beasts, they have the chance to grow in to alternate forms. Most are still weak because there is no need for them to become powerful offensive beasts." Doc enjoyed showing this side of beasts.

"They come out on clear nights like this to enjoy the cool air. They also like to filter the light through their water bodies. It's a sight that attracts each other and allows for the more unique water and spiritual type beasts to grow. Some of them will even merge with each other forming new beats."

This was a unique trait of some beasts with similar typings. Specifically fairies. The water fairies did this most often because they could take the water and spiritual energy that came together in their bodies and use that as materials for such a process. In the end, they would become a more powerful water fairy or they would grow in to a new beast.

"That right there, that is a water hound. They are a different form of fairy. Seven water fairies must come together to change in to that form. They are not very good in battle but excel in finding water, helping farms grow crops, and are overall a loved beast among farmers in general." Doc was sure that knowing these things would help many of his students.

"There is a spirit willow. It was once a water type beast that took its spiritual energy as the focus of its growth. Through twenty years, it was able to take root and gain very weak earth and wind type energies. In another ten years, it should have light type energy as well. It is almost a material for beasts to consume but most certainly is a beast itself.

Can anyone tell me why this beast is so interesting?"

"It's a common beast that can become a very powerful guardian beast?" One of the students closest to the spirit willow spoke up. They had resisted the urge to reach out and touch the nearly translucent watery bark of the tree.

"Yes. That is correct. A spirit willow is hard to cultivate and even harder to tame. Yet, when tamed it can be guided in to a powerful guardian beast. Even our city which has a lot of power has only ever nurtured three. They are at the center of the city, and two at the largest entrances.

They are the elder treants. They remain within their tree form waiting to protect against a beast wave."

There was a lot of surprises. The knowledge of these beasts was not hard to find. However, the students were not very informed about their specific growth and how they came to be. "Don't think that you can rush the growth of such a beast. Those trees are many years older than this one and had teams of over a hundred researchers constantly feeding them. They cost the city generations to raise.

They also will gain their own intelligence, eventually not needing a tamer."

"Take some time to enjoy the sight here while I go and take a walk. It's a nice night but still dangerous. And if you insult any of the intelligent water fairies…Just remember that you are all not expected to survive the years you spend at the academy." Doc brought the crushing realization back to every student.

Just because they had been having it so easy did not mean that they would all live. The older students showed this very clearly by the expressions they wore. They had seen many of their classmates suddenly disappear or even watched them perish in front of them. Becoming a tamer that could defend, research, and rise higher in the world was not something that everyone was able to handle.

Many people forgot that.

There were so many different forms of water sprites and growth patterns that Clark was realizing he had been brought to a treasure trove. The bestiary quest had taken a major advancement closer toward him having the skill forever. With every passing beast, he read carefully the system's analysis.

"My ice maiden really likes it here." The ice maiden had shown itself around Isa. It was watching the spirits carefully. The shrouded figure that the ice maiden took was mysterious and cold. However, there was something calming about it while it turned to watch the passing fairies.

"I'm sure your flame spirit is not too happy." Clark saw that the flame spirit had lowered its flame significantly and refused to dematerialize. It was obviously afraid that the water around would cause it damage.

"It's not, but it can handle this. It is able to resist everything that happens while I train with my ice maiden. I just hope that this is what we can use to learn more about each other." Isa had a feeling that there were many hidden secrets from her here.

"It's a good theory. The water elemental energy is the base for frost and cold. There could be something your beast can learn from the water fairies." Ella was recording the interactions of the water type beasts around them. She needed the information so that she could see how the water wisps she wanted to foster would grow and react.

"Maria?" Clark saw that Maria was completely awestruck. Lit was much the same. The two were just motionless and silent. "I'll let you enjoy it…" There was something even more beautiful about how Maria and Lit fell in to a trance watching the brilliant blue and white lights the water fairies made while passing.

"Hehehe"

"Humans!"

"Yes! More games to play!"

"Heheeh, let's play! Play!"

The silent dances of the lower intelligence water fairies were interrupted by the sudden sound of giggling and drips of water. The sounds were strange until Clark laid eyes on a larger water fairy.

The webbed wings of water behind it gave the small moving shape of water more dimensions. Eventually, the shapes of the water became closer to the fairies that he had seen in children's storybooks.

'Water fairy- uncommon

This water fairy has gained proper intelligence. Unlike the weak and small water fairies, it has reached the mental age of a child. It can better influence the water that it is made of while also accessing the water around it to defend or attack. They are known to play games and tease travelers while also instigating stronger beasts in to fighting one another.

The best materials to use to help them grow…'

"Hello there, my name is Clark. It's nice to meet you." Clark did not hesitate to introduce himself as if he was speaking to a little child. He had seen many run around his street while growing up and remembered the games he had played with them if he was bored.

"Yes!" The water fairy reacted instantly seeing that it had been noticed. It was clearly curious about the others. As it came closer, many others came out of the shadows of the forest to show themselves to the students. They had been waiting.

"Mean old man is gone! We can play!" a few of the students laughed since it was Doc that had been clearly keeping them at bay.

"Weird cold one!"

"Cold one!?"

"Look! Cold one."

Isa's ice maiden attracted their attention very much. They knew of ice type beasts but they were purely water fairies. This was very different and interesting. "This is my ice maiden. She is a little different from you but she will play games with you if you are polite." Isa was surprisingly good with children and used the skills she had on the water fairies.

The water fairies tried to reach out and touch the ice maiden but recoiled drastically. The water that neared the ice maiden started to freeze making the water fairies fearful. "No touching…." The two that had attempted to touch the ice maiden were very sad that they could not do so.

"Come play! Come Play! Come Play!" The chant of water fairies changed the atmosphere.

"They aren't dangerous now, but they can be," Clark whispered carefully to the group. These water fairies were playing with them but were not bound to the same ideologies as humans. They could cause all of them to become hurt with their jokes. With their games.

"Why don't we try and play hide and seek. You can all hide from us and the entire class will try and find you. The only rules will be that you have to hide somewhere safe for a human to go. And if you want, we can bring out our beasts to help us find you faster. It makes it more fun because you will meet more friends!" Ella had already formulated her theory and plan.

Now she was putting it in to action to keep them all safe but also keep the water fairies happy. There were more dangerous beasts in this forest.
