Spirit Taming

Chapter 126: Pools

Chapter 126: Pools

At first the students looked at Ella like they had just heard a crazy person speak. However, as they watched the different sized water fairies leave, they understood. Ella had just tamed a situation that could have caused all of them to be in a lot of trouble.

"If I let the water fairies decide what we were playing, some of you could have died. They are beasts, they have some intelligence but not much. Do not try to speak to them as if they have human values." Ella had gathered enough to give this advice before she returned focus to the group.

"Good thinking there. I appreciate you speaking up before anyone else." Clark had to give credit where credit was due.

"But is it really alright to play a game with them?" Maria felt that they were playing with a dangerous beast. She had felt the energy in the air when the multiple water faeries had started to chant. It was nothing small.

"I don't see it as an issue. They are like children. As long as we find some of them, they will start looking and help us because they are too excited. We just need to avoid anything more powerful. They also don't seem to want to touch Isa's ice maiden so we can use that to our advantage." Ella was showing off even more of her researching genius.

"So we can try and learn about the water and gather materials since we are resting here all night and day!" This was much better in Isa's eyes. She wanted to help make her ice maiden stronger before getting to Star city where she might not find any materials due to the closeness to salt water. Ice didn't grow too well in salt water.

"Where would you think these water beasts are formed?" Clark lacked information about the area. He could analyze everything he wanted but that didn't help. He had to get more information about where these water type beasts originated and grew. If he did that he could help Isa and make a profit.

"Shouldn't it be the pools over that way? Some of them are glowing so there are water beasts in them." Marai was quick to spot some of the shallow water pools around. But what Clark worried about was an ambush. It was easy to attract prey to a glowing light at night and attack.

"There shouldn't be any issue. This is a safer area. Anything that would live and attack things here would be chased out or drowned." Ella saw that Clark was apprehensive and guessed why. She didn't have all the information either but was able to gather some.

" Alright, let's go look. But I have a feeling that those are just pools. If we want to find the materials we need we should go toward the larger pools. Deeper in the forest area." Clark knew that the materials would also be useful for Ella. Yet, Ella was not very concerned about them. It made him curious.

"Ella, don't you need the materials for your wisps too?"

"The materials here are a little low quality and may have more spiritual energy than pure water. Star city has purer water type materials that can be made in to medicines or improved materials for a beast's growth." Understanding came to everyone. They had not known this but it was important information.

"We should look in to more unique things about Star city when we get there. If there are so many things that are unique to them that we don't have, we could make a massive profit when we get home too." Isa was trying to think of what she had lost out on by not bringing from their home. Unfortunately, they had blogger things to focus on.

"Ahh, see? That is a water hound resting at the bottom of the little pool. There's no mud on it because of the pure water that makes up its body." Clark could tell that this was the cause from the outline. If Devi were to go in to the mud or get covered in dust, it would be the same effect.

For whatever reason, Crim seemed very interested in the water pools. He was looking at the beasts that moved through them as if he was in an aquarium, not that Clark thought Crim would ever know what one of them was. "Crim, you can start to find the water fairies too. Just be nice to them alright?" Clark's approval allowed Crim to dash off in search.

"I didn't expect Crim to be so interested in finding the water fairies. It must be a fun challenge for him since it will help train his intellect." Maria felt that this made more sense than Crim just wanting to play too. Clark decided not to tell her his thoughts on the matter.

"Lit, stay close to me. I don't want them bothering you." Maria was careful with Lit because a lot of the beasts around were also spirit type beasts. They were mostly water but had some spirit mixed in. if Lit was to get in trouble with one, they could hurt Lit worse than other beasts that could only use physical means to attack others.

"We could harvest that dew drop clover. It has some decent uses in healing medicines for water type beasts. They are useless other than that." Ella was already sketching a piece of it. The clover in her hand twirling around so she saw every detail.

"These little blue clovers really have that quality? I should pay more attention when I read…" Isa had never seen them. If they had that valuable quality she thought she would have seen them being sold in a market before.

'Dew drop clover- common

This is a specific herb used to heal water type beasts. It can only heal small injuries unless it is condensed in to a medicine. It would take a thousand clovers to create a small pill that can heal a mild injury. These only grow around water type beast nests.'

"You wouldn't see it unless someone had the time to harvest a thousand or more. That's how many it takes to make a pill that heals a mild injury. Unfortunately, it would be too troublesome when it's easier to find better herbs." Clark shared what he knew and Isa was brought down from her excitement. Nonetheless, everyone gathered up a few leaving behind the roots so that they would grow back.

The four took the time to stop at the smaller water pools and observe the beasts. One of the giggles from water fairies hiding behind trees tipped them off. Clark was sure that the more they went in to this forest, the more that they would hear of it. He was almost getting annoyed with it.

"Look at that pool. It's triple the size of the others and has some small streams coming from it." The sound of gurgling water was also heard from the pool that Isa pointed out. Ella was glad to be told of it since she wanted to find something new to sketch and decipher.

'Water bound serpent- rare

The water bound serpent is as its name states, a serpent that is completely bound to the water. It can not leave the water without a form of water or spiritual energy to feed off of. Most of them will survive in natural springs so that they can have a constant flow of water.

Those that survive past their adolescence can grow in to unique beasts that live within rain clouds called the downpour serpent. This is one of the few beasts that are territorial against water fairies…'

It's a water bound serpent. Look, there are slight lines where the water is moving around it unusually." Clark pointed out the nearly invisible serpentine shape. The others were quickly caught up in how amazing such a beast was. The serpent they were looking at was easily fifteen feet long if stretched out.

The water bound serpent moved slowly to the surface where small darker blue eyes opened to examine them. They were not water fairies so it did not have any negativity against them. All of them took careful note of the closer view they had of the water bound serpent. It actually had scales that helped it capture some of the light coming from the sky and bend the light around it.

That was how it was able to better blend in to the water as well.

"So boring! Come and find us!" One of the water fairies had grown impatient. Before Clark could do anything, a single branch had been snapped off of a tree above them. The resulting splash would have just been that, a splash. Unfortunately, that branch had splashed right in to the water bound serpent. And it was not at all happy about that.

"Retreat!" Ella shouted while jumping backward. She knew exactly what was going to happen now.
