Chapter 106: Another Mentor

Chapter 106: Another Mentor

"Isa is gone I guess…" Maria was a little sad that Isa had rushed from the room so fast. However, Clark and Maria both understood why.

Isa had wanted to set up her own business and with such an astounding show from Clark, she knew she would be a complete fool for missing this opportunity. She would spend the life savings she had to build an official business right that second.

"I bet that she is going to get her entire family to back her application to the city. I know shops and analysis experts show up all the time. There are no evaluations for it which is why Nova academy is so trusted. Too many scam artists." Clark hated that it was so easy for people to make a living scamming people. But that was just how it was.

"When we get older, we can make regulations. Maybe we can even force the city to have a government test for it. The city lords couldn't go against that too much if they had a say in it." Maria had a good idea of what the city lords and top families might support.

Having a hand in the creation of a regulatory group revolving around beast analysis could bring a lot of money, fame, and most certainly power. That would draw many to support it if there was adequate proof of it being feasible. "I might put that on my list of goals. But for now, we have some reports to write."

Clark and Maria set to recording what Clark felt made sense to write down. He referenced the library books on beast materials he had read along with multiple sections. He even went so far as to reference a storybook he had been read as a child. This was the best way to describe why he had been able to formulate a plan that made no sense to others as of yet.

The difference in point of view was always why many research breakthroughs were made.

The report was simple, it stated the current state of the burst shell turtle and then the two growth paths. From there is detailed the materials needed for both. For the first report they had ever created, Maria and Clark had done well. The templates given by Doc were perfect for any student to use. It was the perfect reason why Nova academy was considered the leader of multiple cities.

"It's all so different." Clark had a flashback of the world he had come from before awakening in a new world as a baby. He had forgotten a lot of things because they seemed too fuzzy to remember. The sciences in comparison to fantastical magics were too drastic in comparison.

"What's different?" Maria was a little confused because Clark had suddenly stopped.

"Just the lab and how fast things move. I feel like this will help us get a lot stronger faster. We will make at least three to five gold coins for every single perfect analysis. Then we can start charging more for materials if they want to use them here. From there it's all material buying at the auction house. Then to the wilds for training.

It's a perfect plan. So different from this morning."

Clark covered his random exclamation. He wasn't going to share the strange memories he had. The reasons why he was so much more mature and quick to learn than others. Nor would he share the system he had. All these things could paint him as crazy and a target for others.

The system had power. Clark could analyze beasts, do quests for rewards, and even gain new skills. It was all too much for anyone to understand other than him being a golden goose. If Clark wasn't careful, he could be captured and used by someone more powerful than him. He needed to be stronger.

"Let's leave this here for now. I want to meditate more tonight before classes tomorrow." Clark stood up and headed out the door with Maria at his heels. She wasn't sure what had come over him but felt it was a good thing to be so determined. She wanted to keep up and remain by his side. She couldn't imagine the world without Clark's support.

"I can't say you look too well. Covered in dirt and scrapes." Doc had waited in Alexander's personal residence. He was there for a short while before Alexander had returned from his outing in the wilds.

"And why are you in my home? You broke in here to try and convince me to get you another rare material? Or let me guess, you want to train against my beasts again? You know that your beasts will never match mine." Alexander and Doc glared at each other. The tension was powerful.

"I hate to say it, but you have something I want. I want your student. Clark. He is perfect for the beast analysis classes, egg identification, and beast growth planning. He was able to create a volcanic turtle in the matter of a few moments. I can't stress enough how large an achievement that is for a student his age.

The papers he wrote with his two friends are going to be published by the academy under anonymous student."

"So you want to take my most promising student who has already opened a taming space, has beasts that overpower any others his age, and has an incredible battle learning ability just to become some researcher? Not in a million years." Alexander scoffed at Doc.

The two had been rivals for many years. Dc had come to the academy and immediately started butting heads with a younger Alexander despite their differences in strength. This attitude was a singular reason why Alexander did not dislike Doc over others. Doc had the courage of a mad scientist. Someone who ignored wisdom to get what he needed.

"You don't seem to understand. I followed the little Rolly family heir. She has already submitted a contract for a beast analysis business. She has named Clark and Maria her two employees. I gave them a lab next to mine. I don't care if you dislike this but I will not allow this to pass." The papers that Alexander read from Doc made him raise his eyebrows.

It was more detailed than expected.

"This is what they discovered? That kid spent more time in the library than I thought was acceptable. It seems worth it. And they will have a business? Good. he needs the gold to continue on his path.

I will allow this. You can be their mentor. Tackle all three of them and let them learn. But do not interfere with my training. I have plans for Clark's growth to speed up soon."

"Fine, we will share. Bring your beasts by the lab tomorrow. I can see that they were injured. I don't care what you did, but I worked hard to create the growth plans for those four beasts. There are none like them right now. Only books have any records of them." Doc left the room while Alexander sank in to a chair.

He wasn't sure how many times Clark would shock him. This was the most unexpected student he had ever shown any interest in and now he had another person mentoring him.
