Chapter 105: Backed Up

Chapter 105: Backed Up

The burst shell turtle immediately let off a massive burst of heat. Enough to make everyone step far back. The shell seemed to become hotter and hotter before starting to crack and melt off. The soldier felt that all the energy in his body was being used up.

"Boy, how do you feel? What does you beast feel?!" Doc was worried that the worst was happening. For a beast to be overloaded with wrong materials and forced to lose its life. Such a beast as a burst shell turtle could actually explode.

"Great! Amazing! I've never felt her so happy!" The soldier was feeling more energy leave him and help his beast grow. But the pure joy of this growth was something he had not felt from his beast even when it had made the final steps in to adulthood.

"You said three to seven hours!?" Doc was harsh with his words, he needed confirmation from Clark immediately.

"Yes! That's the minimum and maximum it will need to regrow a shell. If it has more materials it might be able to speed it up." Clark watched Doc nod.

Doc moved to the opposite side of the room and opened a large storage cabinet. The cabinet had multitudes of elemental crystals. Doc took larger fire and earth elemental crystals. From that side of the room, he threw them directly on to the shell of the growing turtle.

The turtle growled, shaking the room. It was a happy growl that seemed to make everyone feel more energetic. Not a single person could form words as they saw the energies within the crystals melt away in to the glowing and cracking shell.

It was not just the shell breaking that they noticed. The form of the shell was changing. It was rising in to a small peak. A small volcano shape. The limbs of the turtle became slightly thinner while the broken shell pieces were absorbed in to the feet of the turtle. The speed at which this happened was astonishing.

Doc had added the elemental crystals for a reason. They gave the kinds of energy the turtle needed most.

The sweat built up on everyone's brow while they watched for an hour and a half. The shaping of the new turtle shell was enough to captivate any number of people. The students against the walls felt that they had never been in such heat, however, they were awestruck. When the final form of the turtle was revealed, they all saw something that had only been shown to them in drawings.

'Volcanic turtle- Ultra rare

The volcanic turtle is a branch of growth rarely pursued due to the fact that many do not know of the materials needed. In the wild, a turtle rarely defeats the proper monsters when they have the proper materials nearby. The volcanic turtle can create a space around it covered in lava and toxic fumes. It is the bane of any plant type beast due to the poison and flame.

It will never grow in to another form but it has the ability to grow larger and larger the longer it lives. The innate ability to eat tough ores and use them as lava in attacks makes it a very adaptable beast when coming against tougher opponents. The best food…'

"You can have your own lab. I will clear it. I expect you to map out the growth plan for this in detail by the end of the day. Understood?" Doc had pure steel in his voice. He would accept no less than a full report from Clark about this growth plan.

"How do you like your new beast? It has used all of its energy to form a new shell, tougher features, and lean muscle. I can see that it will be much harder to beat it and I expect that you will need to alter its' diet. It will need more food with better quality." Doc looked at the stunned soldier that hadn't flinched at all.

"We are great. I will do all of that. You, kid. Come over here. This is rocky. She was my spirit beast.

You made her way happier than she has ever been. If you come to the army you should come and join the squad I was just promoted to. I'm the new vice captain." The soldier shook Clark's hand over and over while looking at him and his volcanic turtle.

"Ehm, umm…no problem. I'm glad she is happy. Just make sure you test out her new skills in a wide open place. Lava is dangerous. Also, feed her tougher metal ores if you want to increase the power of the lava she makes." Clark gave his advice but felt that he was just making things worse. The soldier was crushing his hands.

"Listen up. All of you will write statements about what you witnessed. Even you!" Doc even gave his fellow professor a homework assignment. It was nearly funny until he grabbed Clark and dragged him away.

"I have no idea where you have been hiding. But you three will be under my personal control. You don't have…ugh, you have that Alexander as a mentor? Of course you do. How annoying. He will get in my way.

Just pretend he doesn't exist and focus here. You will be great. You three have a personal lab to work in. I just want reports of every beast you help and drawn up plans of how it would be done for any beast. All three of you will need to work on these. No help from others unless you need it.

I will provide the necessary materials. Just ask in advance. The people will always pay for what they want."

Clark felt that Doc was much more evil than he realized. He was willing to steal all three of them away from other professors and even go against Alexander. On top of that, he was willing to provide materials and allow Clark to charge the people he helped. It was brilliant to make money, learn about beast growth theories, and even have a stake in Clark's future.

"Wait, professor- or, umm, Doc. this is the lab next to yours." Isa wasn't sure how she was supposed to keep up. Maria was right by Doc and Clark's side as if it was easy to keep up.

"Yes, this is my secondary lab. It's yours now. Start your business and I will send you a few clients to start. I promise you I will see you become much better. Then we will worry about other things." Doc grabbed papers and cleared them away. He thrust more toward the three that were growth plan templates.

The number of supplies and things that were thrown at them was enough to make anyone dizzy. Even Clark felt that he was starting to lose himself by the time Doc finally stopped his frantic conversation. "Just come back tomorrow ready with that growth plan for the burst shell turtle. I will check on the state of a few beasts." Doc rushed out of the lab.

"So, I think we have a lab, a backer, and more importantly, a business." Maria was very happy to see that she could help somewhere. The beat growth templates were perfect for what she saw herself doing. As long as Clark fed her information she would fill them out and create their very own beast guides. Her impeccable penmanship would shine!
