Spirit Taming

Chapter 107: Waiting Challenges

Chapter 107: Waiting Challenges

"That brings us to the last point. Taming spaces. I was holding this lesson back for a while but seeing that we have one member of our class with one, we will begin the explanation." Professor Wright felt that it was still, very early to be having this lesson. She wanted to wait for the students to have a better foundation for their knowledge.

"The taming space is a strange power that in theory, everyone with a beast can use. However, that does not mean everyone opens one. It is very rare in everyday life for someone to open a taming space. It requires a lot of energy." The students already knew that for the most part. For some, the taming space would be a very big deal and for others, it would not be as important.

Fr Isa, her ice maiden and flame sprite could hide away in the air around here. They were elemental beasts that had the ability to create their body out of spiritual and elemental energy. Ralph was different, he had a physical beast that was better off hiding away within a taming space until needed for a battle. There were only so many places a larger beast could or could not go.

"Some of you may choose to never open a taming space. That is fine, it does not justify any strength or weakness of a tamer. I personally know three tamers that have more power than myself yet do not have a taming space. I do know more with unique taming spaces." This attracted the student's attention much more. Clark was waiting to hear anything he might be missing.

"Unique taming spaces are created using different techniques often passed down through families. They will rely on the energy the spirit beast absorbs or the techniques the tamer trains. Some will require a lot of energy and unique materials. Some will require constant material additions. And some will naturally form when the tamer is at the right level of strength.

Overall, the taming space is what you make of it." The conversations had already started on the side about opening taming spaces.

"You will go to the library and study taming spaces. I do not care if you have one path picked out, you will research others to ensure you are ready. When you have the ideas and process picked out you can visit me in my office to discuss the safety issues that may arise. Opening a taming space is not an easy possession." It was clear that Professor Wright was not taking no for an answer.

They would all need to go to her when they knew what they wanted to do.

"Can I speak with you now that class is over?" Maria raised a hand making Clark wonder why. He hadn't seen her with a taming space plan or even talking about it.

"Of course."

"Clark, I will just be a minute." Maria went to speak with professor Wright leaving Clark by the door.

"Do you know what she might be doing? I have our business license rushing through the application process. I should have it by the end of the day. That means we need to organize and prepare the lab we will use. I want to take clients today too so we have free advertising." Isa was all in on the business. Clark wasn't sure how she was able to work so fast.

"No, but I will ask when she comes back. We should write growth plans for your beasts and for Lit too before we take any clients. I want to practice and all of us to have plans." Isa didn't seem to dislike the idea, but before they could go in to more details, Maria had caught up to them.

"So?" Clark just waited. He could see that Maria was very happy and that meant she had heard something that she liked.

"I have a solid taming space plan. I just need to get the materials all set up." Her confidence was brimming. Clark wondered where it all came from since it was more than he was used to seeing her with. Yet, he knew that since she had begun to get stronger she had been more and more confident every day.

"Spiritual sea. I am going to open the unique taming space spiritual sea. I have been looking for it in the library at night and finally found one that fits what I need and want to do."

"At night? Why at night?" Isa wasn't sure why Maria hadn't been looking in to these things after class like most students.

"Because she had been training or preparing with me. Maria, you need rest too. What if you work yourself in to exhaustion." Clark felt that this was his fault. If he had been more open to what Maria needed, then she might not have had to force herself to remain awake to study this.

"It's not your fault. I chose to do it. You stay awake at night to meditate even when we don't train. I just went to the library to find a taming space that no one uses anymore because no one focuses on having combat and healing beasts." Maria didn't go in to any more details, however, Clark saw her hiding a small scroll that clearly had more information on it.

"Just tell me when we need to buy or get materials. I don't care what wild area we need to go. Even if it's ten dungeons we will get them." Clark took more of a lead leaving the two girls behind. Isa tried to catch up missing the red color coming to Maria's cheeks. Not that Clark was any different.

"So you three came back? I thought that after the entire building started talking about Doc's new students you would hide away. That lab he gave you already has five senior students outside who want to test you. They don't like that Doc gave you so much so fast. Normal stuff, good luck." Clark shook his head with a large sigh.

"I should have guessed this would happen. I will draw up plans for potential growth for our beasts later. Let's deal with these fools.

"Finally arriving. Have you finished your basic classes? Hm? You got lucky yesterday but I doubt you can identify our beasts." The students that were outside all backed up the one senior student.

"That's fine. Test us. We will have more details written up than you know about your own beast. But if we write plans for all of you I want you to pay. Gold or rare materials with signed paperwork that says you accept that we are the best analysts you have ever worked with." Clark stood with complete confidence in his statements.

The older students had more years of education. More knowledge. Naturally, this irked them. "Don't even try to get out of this. If you fail you will give us this lab to work from. I don't care what you try and do but we know better than you."

"Then I will write up the papers. Get in line and be ready to sign them. Remember, I use rune scribed paper. These are binding magical contracts. There's no getting out of them." Maria swore that Clark and Isa had become two devils before her very eyes.
