Chapter 70. Regressor Of Vengeance.
Chapter 70. Regressor Of Vengeance.
Ray was certain about this because it was the only thing that made sense to him.
Sera had to have known something really important about that spell and possibly about Elise and her father as well, forcing them to get rid of her, despite the young lady being one of the few healers in the kingdom.
Thinking back now, since Sera was caught three years in the future, it meant that it took Elise and her father that long to find her, so that means if Ray wanted to find her, it would definitely not be easy for him to do so either.
Ray stared at the ceiling as his mind began to race while he pulled more details from his previous life.
Back then, while Elise had bragged about how Sera had been killed, Ray recalled hearing a few piece of information that hadn’t mattered then but had mattered enormously now.
First of, Sera wasn’t just any healer anyone could find anywhere.
She was a paladin and a really good one at that. This meant that she specialized not only on healing but on defensive and offensive attacks as well.
She was a complete warrior that could easily function as a tank in a party.
Her combat skills were really good too and she probably wouldn’t had lost against Elise if the Saintess hadn’t used Sera’s weakness to her advantage.
Ray paced within the room as he also recalled how irritated Elise became, concerning how strong Sera was, and he recalled Elise saying something about Sera spending the last few years hiding, to gather enough coins to buy the ingredients she needed in brewing her own personal potions for revenge against Elise.
This meant that Sera was experienced in brewing potions and could be invaluable to his team if they were to work together.
But if what Elise said was true, regarding the loss of Sera’s family, Ray was certain the paladin would hate Elise just as much as he hated her.
And that would explain Sera’s act of vengeance before she was defeated, caught and then slaughtered in public.
Ray stopped pacing, then he sat gently on the edge of his bed.
His gaze flickered toward the eggs in the corner, then he muttered to himself. "You guys look like you’ll be hatching soon."
’I’m guessing three or maybe four days based on how big you’re getting. Well, after you guys do hatch, I’ll wait a day or two to see how mom and Emma tries to take care of either of you."
"Once I see how well they’re getting used to having a wyvern in the house, I’ll get ready to finally leave the village the next day or two days after."
In other words, Ray had at least a week left to remain here in the village.
Ray pondered as he realized that he would soon be making the first steps toward having his revenge against his next set of targets.
But rather than feeling impatient to have his revenge, Ray couldn’t help but furrow his brow worriedly.
It wasn’t because he was afraid.
Rather, Ray was just worried about what he had seen on the day he had leveled up right after killing the wyvern that attacked the village.
On that very day, Ray had received a couple of notifications from his system.
They were mainly titles for his achievements in defeating monsters like the Ogre King and the wyvern.
However, those two titles weren’t the only ones the system rewarded him with, because Ray also received a title for preventing not only the death of his girlfriend, but also the death of his mother and sister as well.
Recalling this title, Ray replayed the details that was displayed on that very day.
[Congratulations, you’ve obtained a new title.]
[Title: Regressor Of Vengeance.]
[Congratulations!! You have obtained this title after successfully changing the fate of those you care about. However, this title also has a side effect you must not ignore.
Every time you directly hurt your revenge targets or the people close to them, they’ll receive a short vision of what they did to you in your first life.
The more you hurt them, the longer and clearer these visions become.
Eventually, if you keep hurting them or those they care about, they’ll see everything regarding how they’ve treated you.
They’ll know exactly who you are, what they did to you and they’ll know you’re coming for them.
This makes them dangerous in a way your knowledge of the future cannot fully prepare you for because a person who knows they are being hunted will start doing things they never did in your first life.]
Ray sighed softly as he replayed these words in his mind.
The words written underneath the title were easy to interpret as a warning and Ray couldn’t help but wonder if the Goddess actually had a role to play in his regression.
But if she did, then why?
Was his first life and suffering a means of entertainment she couldn’t get tired off watching and had simply wanted to see how he could react if he was given a second chance or did she brought him back to the past because she truly wanted him to have a revenge against the elite warrior party.
To be honest, Ray wasn’t sure and didn’t want to waste hours thinking about this possibility.
’But then again, maybe a separate being is responsible for giving me a second chance.’ Ray uttered in his thoughts, but didn’t allow his mind to linger on such thoughts for long because no matter who was responsible for his regression, it still wouldn’t change the fact that the title was definitely a warning for him to either pursue his revenge or back down before things got worse.
However, was giving up really an option for him right now?
If Ray chooses to simply stay here at Thornsville with his family, and live a simple life as a commoner and farmer, Ray was certain that the priestess would return once again and even if he managed to convince her not to allow him to join the elite warrior’s party, a different priestess or priest would definitely try to force him to join Aldric’s party.
It was mandatory for every combat-type Awakener to undergo a trial upon awakening their class, but if this turns out to be the case, Aldric and his party members would definitely show an interest in him or Mira.
In other words, staying behind and abandoning his revenge wasn’t an option Ray seemed keen on.
