Regressor's Harem Of Vengeance

Chapter 69. The Healer’s Name.

Chapter 69. The Healer’s Name.

Dinner was normal that evening, just like every other day.

Helen had made something with vegetables from the garden and meat bought from the market.

The kitchen was warm and was filled with the smell of veggies and boiled meat.

Emma talked about the wyvern eggs to both Ray and Mira, and how she had noticed the change in the eggs since they first arrived.

The little chipmunk had spent most of the afternoon sitting near the eggs and just watching them.

Since she had nothing else to do, Emma took pleasure in just spending time with the eggs, talking to them as though they could understand what she was saying.

Once satisfied with what she had shared, the conversation gently moved to other things like the villagers still rebuilding the village and how Marcus had a few problems with his supplies today and how someone’s goat had gotten loose.

They kept talking about simple village related stuff and it filled them all with a sense of ease and comfort as everyone bonded even more during dinner.

After dinner, Ray went upstairs.

The eggs remained in their corner and they were noticeably larger than they’d been even this morning.

The hard scale-like shells looked shiny and sharp, but the obsidian eggs began to glow upon noticing Ray’s presence in the room.

A huge smile appeared on Ray’s face as he noticed the glow in the eggs.

It almost felt like the eggs had hatched and they were hopping up and down, screaming

’Food!! Food!! Food!! Papa!! Give me food!!:

"Yeah, yeah, I know. I’m coming." Ray smiled warmly as he sat on the floor beside the eggs, then he placed one hand on each egg.

The warmth from his Wyvern energy skill instantly flowed from his chest through his arms and into the obsidian shells.

The eggs glowed in response and Ray could feel the heartbeats quickening within the eggs as they absorbed more and more energy from him.

Ray sat like that for a long time until the eggs drained almost all of his mana pool, then he slowly pulled his fingers away from the eggs but he didn’t stand up yet.

The eggs had stopped glowing and had began to sleep and rest but Ray remained on the floor, staring at the two eggs while thinking about something else entirely.

’A healer, a noble and an enemy to the church.’ Ray repeated softly in his mind as he tried to recall where he had heard those words from.

But just as Ray was about to give up and call it a night, the answers he had been looking for, suddenly rush into his mind.

Ray closed his eyes and memories of what he had done with the elite party came flooding in.

He recalled how he had followed Aldric and his party members, traveling between cities and fighting against monsters.

He recalled doing whatever Aldric had ordered him to do simply because he didn’t want the hero of the kingdom to be upset with him.

The days had been blurred in his memories because it was precisely three years into the future.

In other words, he had been with the elite party for exactly three years at the time, but while he was in the capital city with his team members, something very important had happened in the public square of the Cathedral itself.

A crowd had gathered and Ray was standing amongst the crowd because Aldric had sent him on an errand to gather supplies for their next exploration but upon returning back, he noticed the crowd and decided to check out what was going on.

In front of him was a church official reading from a scroll as the words rang out in the minds of the people in front of him.

"Sera Argent, a former member of the Holy Order, has been found guilty of heresy and crimes against the Goddess herself. She is to be condemned to death and will be executed now. Let this serve as a reminder that none is above the divine law."

Ray looked at the young lady kneeling close to the official and he noticed the large and bulky executioner standing next to her with his huge axe on his shoulder.

Ray swiftly opened his eyes as he pulled his mind out of his memories.

Then, he muttered the Healer’s name softly. "Sera Argent."

Now he remembered her and he remembered the announcement very clearly.

He recalled standing in that square and hearing Sera’s name but at the time , he felt nothing because he saw it as nothing more than a background noise.

He saw it as the church’s business that didn’t really concern him because he had been too focus on completing Aldric’s orders, so he cared very little about some stranger’s execution.

He had walked away from the square and had even forgotten about her in the next couple of hours.

But thinking back now, Ray recalled something even more important.

That night, after Aldric and some of his party members had finished eating, Ray was tasked with getting the plates cleaned and doing some other chores.

But now, Ray recalled seeing Elise, the only female in the party smiling and hopping as she made her way to Aldric to talk about the healer who had died that afternoon.

Ray recalled her muttering something about Sera finding out about a certain forbidden spell which forced Elise and her father to get rid of Sera and everyone else close to her.

Back then, Ray didn’t think too much about it, but now that he thought about it, wasn’t this forbidden spell the same thing that was used on him two years later, leading to his untimely death?

"Yes, it had to be."

Ray clenched his fist as rage poured into his heart and mind.

He couldn’t believe that those suckers had been discussing about the evil spell long before they used it on him.

At the time he couldn’t suspect anything because he thought they were simply talking about something that wouldn’t be of concern to him.

However, right now, that spell was certainly of concern to him.

After all, it was that same spell that led to his death, but if Sera had known about the spell, forcing Elise and her father to get rid of her, doesn’t that mean Sera knew something very important that those two didn’t want the world to know about?
