Chapter 149 149: Ch 149: In the Enemy Camp
"This is the store room. We need to clear this out. As for what you do with this data, you decide. We need none of this."
The creature led them to a decently sized room which had a lot of stuff inside. And according to the creature, it all needed to be cleared out as soon as possible.
"Do you all get what you have to do? Or do I need to repeat myself?"
The creature asked, and Andrew nodded to show that he understood. His compliance but lack of speech made the creature frown, and he gave Andrew a scornful look.
"Tsk, what kind of creature are you? You don't even speak, but your eyes do piss me off a lot…"
The creature muttered as he finally left the room after that. The trio relaxed once they were left alone, and they looked around the room with vigilant eyes.
"We don't have time for all this. We need to find out the place where these people keep their data, and fast. The sooner we are able to get the information we need, the better it will be for us."
Seraphina reminded Andrew, and he nodded. They quickly left the storage room unchecked and went along their way.
But since they had been taken to a different section of the building, it was impossible for them to be able to tell where they were now.
"The system map is not really helping out here. I cannot make out where we are."
Seraphina sighed as she looked at the shared map. It was confusing and had no markings. It did not even indicate which level they were on (and there were definitely more than two levels).
"Tsk, we do not have a choice. We will just have to 'wing it' for now."
Emperor declared before he took the lead. Even though he did not know where he was going, he trusted his luck much more than the other two.
Meanwhile, their disappearance caused a small panic, and the puppet looked troubled as soon as she noticed that her 'guests' never arrived.
__________
'Did something go wrong? The array shows that they arrived here. But where are the humans? Are they roaming around this facility? They better be careful out here…'
The puppet wanted to scream, but her outward appearance remained calm. She immediately left the room she was in so that she could find the humans she had helped sneak in here.
But she had not gone too far when she felt a familiar presence make itself known to her.
"You seem to be in quite a hurry, Miss Puppet. Did something happen? Or perhaps, you lost contact with some people you were waiting for."
The doctor questioned with a smile on his face. He looked calm and not bothered about what was happening at all.
Just looking at that face made the puppet want to do unspeakable things to him. But she held her breath for now because she did not want to waste it on a low-life like the doctor.
"I am rather busy right now. If you have anything to say to me, then please come back later."
She told the doctor, and he pouted.
"Oh, how cold…! And here I thought that I would be welcomed with open arms. But alas, I was wrong…"
The doctor pretended to wrap his arms around himself as he spoke these words. His eyes looked at the puppet with a teasing light that made the puppet freeze.
"What do you want?"
The puppet finally questioned, having realized that the doctor was not playing around. He was here for a reason, and that reason was likely related to her.
"Oh my-! How cold of you to ask me such a question. But since you have asked me this, how can I not tell you? What I want from you is rather simple- allow me to observe what you are going to do next."
The doctor told the puppet. His care-free voice had a hint of amusement and understanding.
The puppet wanted to deny the doctor, but she had a feeling that it was too late. Whatever she wanted to hide, the doctor already seemed to know.
Still, she refused to play to his tune.
"I don't know what you are talking about. And do not show up in my private wing as you please. Just because I have not taken any action yet does not mean I will not in the future either."
The puppet warned, and the doctor realized that he might be pushing a few boundaries with her. So he decided to back off for a bit.
"I understand. Then, I will take my leave now. I do hope you have a fun time with your 'guests'...if you can."
With these final words, the doctor left, but the puppet remained vigilant.
You could never tell what the doctor was thinking or what he would do. It was best to remain on guard the whole time and wait to see what would happen.
__________
"This wing is rather big. But where are we supposed to go?"
Seraphina asked as she took another turn. But the new corridor looked identical to the one they had just left.
This whole floor felt like a huge maze with no way out of here.
"It will be fine. For now, we should focus on finding a way to contact the puppet and tell her we are here. She will be able to help us out from here."
Most of the system features had been put on hold for the trio, so their only way to be able to communicate freely was to find a place from where they could send a message.
Thankfully, this facility seemed to have a lot of such places where the influence of the system was lifted enough for them to be able to get a message across.
They entered such a place, and from the marks on the items around him, it was easy to assume that this was some kind of training room.
"I will send the message now."
Andrew told the other two, and he quickly sent the message.
