Chapter 138 138: Ch 138: The Puppet is Back

"Now that we have signed this contract, it is time for you to show me where you have kept that child. The sooner I get him home, the better it will be for me."

The female puppet spoke in a calm voice as she put down her hand. She was no longer a threat to them because of the contract.

Andrew had made sure it stated that the puppet could neither betray them nor do anything to harm them.

He took a deep breath and decided that it was time to get started. First, he was going to take the female puppet to the place where he had kept the male puppet.

They walked through his property, and everyone remained vigilant against the female puppet. But the puppet did nothing but look around with a blank expression in her eyes.

As soon as they reached the shelter where the younger puppet was being kept, Andrew opened the door. The fairy worker left in charge of the younger puppet looked at him and then backed off when he gave her a command.

The lack of the sleeping power caused the young puppet to wake up immediately, and he gasped before opening his eyes and looking at Andrew.

Rage filled him immediately, and he threw himself toward Andrew at once.

"Y-You! How dare you…"

The young puppet cursed, but he never reached Andrew.

Threads made of fire caught his body, and the young puppet froze at the use of familiar power. Panic filled his eyes as he looked behind Andrew's back and finally saw a familiar face.

"Y-You…! You are…"

He asked as he looked at the elder puppet's face. He tried to break the binds, but it was of no use.

"You have done enough. It's time to go home now."

The elder puppet reminded the younger puppet, but he was not ready to give up.

"No way! I am not returning to that hellhole where we have no freedom. I will become a participant in this game as well and reach the system—"

Sigh

"You truly leave me with no choice."

The female puppet spoke before she used her powers, and the younger puppet was knocked out cold for good.

Once he was asleep, the female puppet turned around to look at everyone else with an apologetic expression on her face.

"I apologize for all this. I was not aware that something like this would occur. Also, thank you for keeping our young one safe. I was very concerned about his safety."

The puppet gave a small bow as she looked at the group she had formed a contract with.

"It's fine. We are not doing this for free either. As long as you keep your promise, I won't consider you an enemy."

Andrew told the female puppet, and she nodded.

"I understand. Now, since you have kept your side of the promise, I will keep mine as well. I will find a way to sneak you into the system's core one of these days. It might take a few games, though. But rest assured, I will not forget my promise to you."

The puppet spoke with a clear voice as she finally left the scene.

Everyone remained tense as they watched the puppet leave. They held their breath and finally let it out as the puppet disappeared from in front of their eyes.

"I-Is she gone…?"

Jenna asked in a terrified voice.

"Looks like the puppet is gone."

Lilianna confirmed, and the air finally began to return to normal. Finally, Jenna's legs gave out, and she curled into herself.

"W-What the hell are you all thinking? Why would you make a deal with a creature controlled by the system? We are all going to die…"

Jenna complained as she tried to control her emotions. But her panic was ignored by most people.

"So, what is the plan next?"

Emperor asked as he turned toward Andrew.

This development was new, and he had never expected things to become like this. A chance to get to the system's mainframe and learn its secrets was likely not going to come again.

"For now, we should all prepare ourselves. We have no idea when the female puppet will come to take us to the system's mainframe. But when the time comes, I will head there with Seraphina and Emperor. The rest of you don't need to come."

He confirmed, and there were a lot of protests (and a relieved sigh from Jenna's group).

"I want to go with you as well."

"Me as well…"

Lilianna immediately volunteered, and Clara also joined her.

But Andrew just shook his head as he looked at the pair.

"It would be better if you both stay back for now. We need to make sure someone trustworthy is left behind, just in case we do not make it."

Andrew informed the pair, and as expected, they did not look happy with his words.

But they no longer asked him to take them with him.

"Then, it's decided. Keep yourselves mentally prepared. The real decision on who should go might change later depending on the circumstances. So let's all try and do our best until that time."

Andrew informed the others, and they nodded.

With this, they finally had something to look forward to in the way Andrew wanted them to. This was the closest he had come to knowing the secrets behind the system in all his years.

"Welcome back, my dear puppet. Did you have fun in the human world? I was beginning to get worried for you, especially seeing how it has been a long time since the last round ended. What were you doing all this time?"

The female puppet halted while walking through the hallways. Her hand tightened around the smaller one in her grip, but she remained calm and turned around to face the doctor.

"What do you need? It better be worth listening to. I do not have much time on my hands."

The female puppet asked, and the doctor just smiled at her with his strange smile.
