Chapter 134 134: Ch 134: Try your Luck

Chapter 134 134: Ch 134: Try your Luck

The dealer's hand had been too fast for a human to see and be able to tell where the dice went. But Andrew's ability allowed him to see beyond such tricks.

[Right cup: Empty]

[Middle Cup: Empty]

[Left Cup: Dice]

Since the system was fair, there was no trick in its game. The answer was in front of the table, and Andrew reached for the left cup to pull it up.

The dice was revealed, and the dealer clapped his hands to show his appreciation toward Andrew's luck.

[You have passed the first trial of luck. Please continue through this path to get to the next one.]

The system told Andrew, and he kept walking forward. It did not take long until the second trial could be seen.

This time, there was a slot machine in front of Andrew, and it blocked the only available path. He tried to go around it, but it was of no use. The barrier blocked his way.

"Hmm, this barrier is firm…I don't think there is any point in trying to attack it-"

Despite him saying this, Andrew tried to break the barrier with his staff. It hit the barrier and got deflected back toward him with the same force.

[Do not attack the barrier. One life will be taken as a penalty next time.]

The system immediately warned Andrew, and he pulled his staff back.

"Alright, got it. The one holding this game really does not want us to cheat during this game. Tsk, what a boring person."

Andrew complained, and he finally moved toward the slot machine. He grabbed the shiny red handle and pulled it down.

The slots in the machine rolled around until they finally lined up…

"As expected. This is a bust, right?"

All three slots in the machine were different. Andrew had failed this round of luck.

[You have lost the slot round. One of your lives will be taken as a penalty. The barrier to proceed further will be taken down.]

[Would you like to try your luck on the slots again? You can win up to 100k system gold.]

The system asked, and a gambling addict would have taken this chance. But Andrew knew his luck, and it was average.

Since he had not bothered to raise his luck stat, he knew that it would be for the best not to take this chance.

"No thanks. I have no intention of getting scammed more than I already have."

Andrew kept walking, and soon, another table appeared. This one had a few puppets sitting down, and they looked at him immediately as he came closer.

Another chair appeared out of thin air as soon as he reached the table, and he took a seat.

[Game 12, Round 3 - Blackjack.]

The dealer sitting in front of Andrew started to deal the first card, and it was a queen. Andrew waited for the dealer to give him a second card as well, but the dealer waited for Andrew to consent.

"Give me another card…"

Andrew told the dealer, and his next card was a 2.

The puppet next to him shook his head as he received another card as well. Soon, the dealer came back to Andrew, and it was time for him to decide whether he wanted to take another card or not.

'Since there are more smaller number cards in the deck compared to bigger numbers, the right thing to do would be to take the card here…'

Andrew nodded at the dealer.

"I will take another card."

It was a king. With this, Andrew lost this round of the game. But fortunately, no one else won either.

A few rounds continued like this until Andrew got a stroke of luck and finally got the hand that allowed him to win.

The puppets around him disintegrated into dust, and he stood up.

"Just one more game to go."

Andrew reminded himself as he started to walk once more. And then, he reached the last table.

This time, there was just a hand on the table and nothing else. The hand had a small coin in its hand, and it played with the coin.

Andrew instantly understood what the coin meant.

"So the final game is heads or tails? Talk about a game of luck…"

The hand held out the coin toward Andrew, asking him whether he wanted to choose heads or tails.

"I will go with tails."

Andrew told the hand, and it made an agreeing motion before it flicked the coin in the air. The coin spun and spun in the air for far longer than Andrew expected…and then, it began to come down.

It landed on the table with heads.

"I thought I had decent luck, but the only luck games I actually won are the ones which have skill involved. But the score is still 2-2. Does this mean I truly have rotten luck?"

Andrew asked, but he did not get any answer.

[You have lost heads-or-tails. One of your lives will be taken as a penalty. The barrier to proceed further will be taken down.]

The outcome had been decided, and it was time for him to move forward.

Thankfully, he had managed to make it all the way across with one of his lives still intact.

When he exited, he was not the first one out. It was Lilianna, and she looked nervous.

"Andrew, you are back? How did it go?"

Lilianna asked, and a quick look at her stats told Andrew that she had not lost a single round. She truly deserved her title as Lucky Gambler, even if she was not a gambler at all.

"It was fine. Has no one else arrived back yet?"

He asked, and seconds later, Jenna appeared while cursing.

"Fuck you-! What a shitty game this was…"

She complained but looked relatively unharmed. The others appeared slowly, and somehow, everyone (even Clara) from his side had survived, which did not surprise him. The odds of survival had been pretty high.

[Game 12, round 4 has ended.]

Only one more round was left, but the puppet looked just a little nervous for some reason.
