Chapter 133 133: Ch 133: Simon Says- Part 2

Chapter 133 133: Ch 133: Simon Says- Part 2

A powerful blast blew up the puppets heading for Seraphina, and Andrew grabbed her shoulder to push her back.

"Seraphina, pay attention to the current battle."

Andrew reminded her, and she snapped out of her daze and looked at him for a few seconds…before she looked around and realized what was happening.

"This is…"

"We are in the middle of a battle."

Andrew reminded her, and Seraphina shook her head to get out of the headspace she had found herself in. Now was not the time to be thinking about useless things.

Her desire for revenge could come later…much later.

Her eyes looked around the battlefield as she blasted a few puppets away. Andrew was currently protecting Lilianna and also fighting monsters. Clara was holding her own, and Emperor was tearing apart any puppets he could get his hands on.

The genetically modified children were also holding up just fine, but the same could not be said for Jenna.

"S-Someone, help me out…"

She cried, and Seraphina decided to help her out.

Her fire burned brighter in her hand, and her blade was engulfed in flames. The puppet burned as soon as it touched Seraphina's blade, and nothing was left behind.

"T-Thank you…"

Jenna replied back with a terrified look on her face, but Seraphina paid her no attention.

After all, the reason she had saved Jenna was not because she liked her or respected her. She had only saved Jenna because it seemed as if Andrew had a plan for her in mind.

"Pay attention to your surroundings if you want to survive. And get stronger as well."

Seraphina told Jenna, and the girl nodded.

"I-I will…"

That was a lie, and they both knew it. Working hard was not in Jenna's nature, and no matter how much she tried, she would not be able to ever work hard.

Sometimes, sentiment alone was just not enough to overcome one's innate nature.

"There are too many puppets. Isn't the barrier a distraction? You can drop it if you need to. I will find a way to survive."

Lilianna told Andrew from where she was standing. She and a few more people were safe in the barrier, but her frown told Andrew that she did not like it.

However, her healing and buff were something that Andrew did not take for granted.

"It's fine. I can keep up this barrier. You just need to focus on buffing everyone around us."

An hour was not a long time for Andrew to keep up his barrier. Besides, the puppets were not as aggressive as some of the other beasts he had fought before.

It was especially easy for him to take out a large chunk of these puppets because they did not move a lot.

[Time remaining: 10 minutes]

The timer was about to run out, and Andrew looked up in the sky to see what the main puppet was doing. The person in question was not even looking at the game, but seemed busy with the system.

It made Andrew wonder if this would be the best time to attack the main puppet and take her by surprise.

The puppet had made the first rule 'don't hurt the game master,' and the result of violating it was instant death. But with Andrew's ability, he could bypass that rule for one minute…

'Should I try-?'

Just as he decided to make up his mind, the round came to an end, and the puppet stood up and faced them all.

"Congratulations on passing round 3. Then, for the next game…shall we try a game of luck? There is only one rule here—get lucky. There are four luck-challenging obstacles in front of you. Cross them all and get to the end."

There was no long-winded explanation this time. The puppet did not even look interested in the game taking place.

But for the humans who were betting their lives on the line, it was important to know what they were getting themselves into. So they turned toward the system, which had some explanation regarding the game.

[Game 12, round 4 information]

[Get to the other side of the road facing three challenges of luck. If you get unlucky, then one of your spare lives will be taken away. Players will have 1 hour to get to the other side.]

What needed to be done was simple, but that did not mean everyone liked it.

"No way-! A game of luck…? At this stage? Aren't they just asking us to die?"

Someone questioned, only to be instantly reassured.

"Hey, cheer up. This might be a game of luck, but we do have three lives. We just need to get lucky one time and we will be safe…"

"But what if we need this life in the next round? I am so nervous…"

There were a lot of people who were in a similar predicament or had not been able to save their lives from the previous rounds.

But what other choice did they have than to step forward and accept their situation?

"Well, there is no point in sitting around and twiddling our thumbs. We might as well start heading out now."

Seraphina pointed out as she stepped on her road. She was quickly followed by the others as well.

Andrew stepped on his own path, and the world around him faded. The last thing he saw was everyone else's determined expressions.

"Let's get going now."

Andrew sighed and took a step on the road ahead. His feet continued to move until he reached a table in the middle of the road. The table only had a pair of hands and a few cups on top of it.

[Sit down]

The system told Andrew, and a chair appeared out of thin air for him to sit down on. Andrew did as he was told, and the pair of hands put one of the cups on top of a dice before moving them around at inhuman speed.

It was a motion impossible for Andrew to capture, even with his sharp reflexes, and soon, it turned into a game of chance…or so it seemed.
