Chapter 130 130: Ch 130: Large Scale Farming
'This situation is rather dire. But it's not unsalvageable for now…'
Andrew thought over all the facts, but he needed a little more information from the chief before he could make a plan regarding the current situation.
"Chief, how many days' worth of food are you left with?"
He asked, and the chief looked a little startled.
"I… maybe around a week if we stretch it. But no more than that."
He confirmed, and Andrew sighed.
'A week is not enough time, but if we are careful, we might be able to make it in time.'
"I think it might be worth taking a shot. But only if the people of Sector V agree to pull their weight as well. We might be able to grow food within that much time."
Coincidentally, it was the same amount of time before the next round. It was worth taking the risk.
"A-Are you sure? The people of Sector V will do it. I will have to ask, but I doubt anyone who's not severely injured would say no."
The chief looked relieved when he said that. His eyes blazed with hope when he said these words, and Clara sighed.
"It looks like I will be overusing my powers for the next week. But I guess I can take it."
Clara sounded just a little bitter, but determined as well. She did not play around when it came to field work.
"Then it's decided. We will farm for more resources for the next week. Thankfully, I know of an empty piece of land large enough to start cultivating on."
Andrew told the chief, and he nodded.
"I will gather the workforce as soon as possible. Is there anything else you want me to do?"
The chief asked, and Andrew nodded.
"Well, ideally we would like to have the people here sign a system contract with us to make sure they don't do anything foolish. But I currently lack the exact funding to make 100k contracts."
He told the chief, and the chief sighed.
"I will tell people to buy their own contracts and have them sent to you for signing. What words would you like me to send to them?"
Andrew nodded with a slight smile.
"Hmm, here is the sample. You can go over it first to make sure everything is in order."
The chief grabbed the contract to give it a read-through. He was afraid that it would have a lot of unfair terms that his people would not agree with.
But weirdly enough, there were not a lot.
[A few lines here and there did catch his attention, like - Party B (the workers) are not allowed to attack Party A in any way.]
[The final say in how to manage the farm and how to handle the items will be made by Party A.]
There were a few more points that seemed to be in Party A's favor, aka Andrew's, and the chief looked a little uncomfortable.
"Don't you think your side has too many advantages in this contract?"
The chief asked in a suspicious voice, but Andrew just smiled back at him.
"Are there? But isn't that only fitting? After all, your side needs my help more desperately than we need yours."
Andrew told the chief, and the chief sighed before nodding.
Truthfully, he was just testing Andrew a little right now. This contract was much fairer and safer than any other he had seen until now. It proved that the people in front of him at least saw them as humans.
"I understand. I will send it back to my people, and they will show up at work as soon as they are done signing. We should start as soon as possible."
He told Andrew, and Andrew nodded.
"We will head to the agriculture site now. Please send your people as soon as they are done signing their contracts."
He told the chief and left with Clara.
"Are you sure you will be fine, Clara? This might be too much of a burden for you."
Andrew asked her, and Clara sighed.
"Isn't it a little too late to ask me this now? Haven't we already made a deal? I cannot possibly back out now."
She told Andrew with a tired but excited look on her face. She finally had all the space she needed to do her work, and she felt accomplished.
It felt like her dream of owning a farm had come true… but the conditions were less than ideal for her.
__________
"No way-! Are you kidding me? How do you expect us to take care of such a big land? Don't farms usually use airplanes to water such huge lands? Does anyone know how to fly one? We are so doomed…"
Jenna moaned as she looked at the huge expanse of land in front of her. She had not even walked down there, but she already looked tired.
"Hey, cheer up. It's not like you have to work alone. We will have a huge workforce to help us out."
Clara reminded Jenna, but Jenna sighed.
"That does not make me feel better. Do you have any idea how long it will still take us manually?"
She asked, and Andrew sighed. He was a little annoyed and tired of Jenna's pessimism, but he still had to tolerate her.
"Jenna, this land is far more fertile than you think. And besides, I do know how to fly a plane. Let's just say it's one of my skills. So you don't have to worry about it."
Andrew told Jenna, but she still looked suspicious.
"You do? Did the system really give it to you? Is it even capable of doing such a thing?"
She questioned, but only because she had known the real 'Mark Dawson' all her life. She knew that he had no training for such a thing.
But Andrew was not Mark. But more importantly, he had an ability to make his lies into truths as long as people believed in him.
And currently, everyone except Jenna and Seraphina (who had known him for too long) believed him.
[90% of people here believe your words. Truth-And-Lies will take effect now. You have gained innate knowledge and ability to fly a plane.]
