Chapter 849 - 845: Relationships (3)
As the saying goes, there is no smoke without fire. During these years that the young master has been away, maybe something really happened between Camila Ruiz and Ivan Horne. The young master is unique in her heart, and she must find out whether Camila Ruiz is still worthy of the young master like she was back in the day!
The room was full of people, everyone gathered around Jimmy Horne, asking all sorts of questions.
What eased Jimmy Horne's mind was that there weren't any high-society debutantes that Ivan Horne had mentioned; those debutantes had already left. Despite Mila Anderson repeatedly insisting they stay, her card-playing friends felt embarrassed to remain, as it was already lunchtime.
Only now did Jimmy Horne realize he'd been tricked by his big brother, it scared him to death.
Thankfully, it was just a prank by his big brother.
After Camila Ruiz entered the room and saw the scene, she quietly asked a servant, found out that Julia Bluen and her mother were still in the kitchen, and then skillfully turned into the Horne Family's big kitchen.
Julia Bluen and Rachel Bailey had already finished the last two dishes, and Glades Horne was thoughtfully helping Julia Bluen untie the apron from around her. Rachel teased from the sidelines: "You're an old couple now, aren't you tired of being mushy?"
Glades Horne glared at her, prompting her to turn around with a laugh and leave, only to see her daughter coming in. She hurriedly pulled her daughter away, chuckling softly: "Don't go in and disturb your godfather and godmother."
"Sour grapes," Glades Horne muttered under his breath.
He was considerate to his Julia; what does Rachel Bailey have to do with it?
Hansen Ruiz wasn't considerate enough, so Rachel Bailey would call him mushy. Even if he lived to be a hundred and became too old to walk, he would still be considerate toward his Julia.
Julia turned and hugged him briefly, smiling: "We're both getting on in years, acting like young people who love to fuss. Aren't you worried about being laughed at by the younger folks?"
Unsatisfied with just a hug from his beloved wife, Glades Horne held onto Julia's waist from behind as she let go and turned to leave, speaking in a deep voice: "Julia, now that Ivan and Jimmy are doing well, especially Ivan, whose abilities are no less than mine, with him inheriting Valence Group, I'm relieved. Would you like to go somewhere? How about a second honeymoon?"
They've been married for over twenty years, busy with the company, busy with the kids, busy with household matters, rarely traveling together. When they did go, they often took their children, never managing a world just for two. Their youth slipped away like this. Now that their sons have grown, gradually, he can let go of company affairs. In the years ahead, he hopes to take his wife's hand and see the whole world with her.
Julia was gently disentangling his arms from around her waist as she spoke softly: "Let's talk about it during the lunch break. Let's go outside, Billy is here." Then she pulled him along to head outside.
Second honeymoon?
Julia thought sweetly to herself; she was indeed looking forward to it.
After being busy for most of her life, it is time to thoroughly enjoy herself, especially when it's just the two of them.
After the meal.
In the Side Hall.
Jimmy Horne, Ivan Horne, and Camila Ruiz were all called into the Side Hall by Mila Anderson, who had some thoughts about the relationship between these three young people after the meal.
With concern, she had to figure things out.
"Ivan, Billy, Camila, you three need to tell this old woman what's going on here?"
Mila Anderson didn't beat around the bush, getting straight to the point.
Earlier during the meal, the person sitting next to Camila Ruiz was Jimmy Horne, not Ivan Horne. The one showering her with care and affection, looking thoroughly smitten, was Jimmy Horne. Anyone could tell at a glance what was going on.
"Grandma, what is it?" Ivan Horne spoke first, but acted clueless.
"Ivan!" Mila Anderson's face fell in displeasure; this grandson was unpredictable, and getting information out of him was tough.
Jimmy Horne firmly took Camila Ruiz's hand, seriously and solemnly answering Mila Anderson: "Grandma, I love Camila, it's just that simple."
Camila Ruiz's face instantly flushed crimson.
"Billy, you know Camila is your big brother's fiancée!" Mila Anderson had guessed the answer but was still a bit stunned to hear it.
"Grandma, you misunderstood. Camila is only my little sister; I never acknowledged her as my fiancée. Besides, even if I wanted to acknowledge her, it wouldn't work. Camila's been waiting for Billy for eight years; there's no room in her heart for me, Grandma, I'm pitiful." Ivan Horne seemed to clarify things but was actually rubbing salt in the wound, earning two dagger-like looks from Jimmy Horne and Camila Ruiz.
This guy loves to gloat at others' misfortunes.
"Grandma Horne, Brother Ivan and I aren't like the rumors say; I only see Brother Ivan as my big brother." Camila Ruiz finally spoke up.
The rumors were something both she and Ivan Horne found helpless. They had emphasized they weren't that kind of relationship, but people wouldn't believe them. There was nothing they could do, especially when Glades Horne and Julia Bluen had been childhood sweethearts who married and loved each other for decades.
"Grandma, as miserable as my big brother seems, why don't you hold a matchmaking banquet for him tonight? I think with his looks and conditions, he would surely find a perfect match." Jimmy Horne said through clenched teeth.
"Hey, Billy, appearance terms are more suited for women. Also, don't do onto others what you wouldn't want yourself." Ivan Horne exclaimed loudly, rushing up to cling onto Mila Anderson's shoulder, speaking earnestly: "Grandma, I'm not pitiful at all, I was joking earlier. Just as Camila said, my relationship with her is strictly sibling-like; the rumors are baseless. It's just because Grandma is getting older that she'd believe such silly rumors. My parents never believed it either." His mother would always try to find him a wife when encountering young women, knowing he didn't love Camila.
"I have a meeting this afternoon, Grandma, so I'm leaving. If you're hosting any matchmaking banquet tonight, remember to let Billy lead the way. He bullied Camila, making her wait for eight years; he shouldn't have it easy." As soon as Ivan Horne finished speaking, he quickly vanished before Jimmy Horne could throw a punch.
Pissed off, Jimmy Horne gritted his teeth, desperately wanting to chase his nasty big brother and hack him into eighteen pieces!
Utterly exasperating, a manipulative jerk to the core!
