Chapter 848 - 845: Relationships (3)

"You've grown taller, more handsome, matured; you're not the little rascal you used to be." Mila Anderson held Jimmy Horne's hand, her old eyes squinting slightly as she carefully observed him.

Gian Horne, wearing reading glasses, also walked out from the house.

He was older than Mila Anderson, already eighty. This divorced yet still cohabiting couple had let bygones be bygones as time passed; old grudges and awkwardness faded into memories. Now, much like any elderly couple, they would pass the time with walks outside, chatting, and meeting friends.

Their care for each other grew so strong it felt as if they had never divorced.

Their children had come to terms with it, diligently taking care of them and never mentioning their divorce.

"The sun is blazing outside, let's go inside first," Gian Horne said, visibly happy. After all, Jimmy had been raised by them for five years and returned after an eighteen-year absence. Though he wanted to warmly hold his grandson's hand like Mila, he restrained himself. As a man, emotions are often buried deep.

"Grandpa."

Jimmy called out to Gian, who nodded in acknowledgment.

"Billy, you and Camila?"

Mila Anderson turned to the Camila Ruiz standing behind Billy with a look of confusion. They had watched Camila grow up and knew she was a good girl, but wasn't she supposed to be the fiancée of their precious eldest grandson? The two were often seen together, dating... so how could this be?

Mila Anderson knew her grandson and Camila Ruiz had been childhood friends, and when Camila was fifteen, Jimmy had even kidnapped her. But none of this meant anything; it was widely rumored that Camila and Ivan were a couple. Mila herself thought they were and hoped to push for marriage soon so she could become a great-grandmother.

Now, seeing her grandson intimately holding Camila's hand, she wondered what on earth was going on.

She certainly didn't want her dear grandson and dear grandson-in-law to be rivals over a woman.

No matter how wonderful the woman, she didn't want the brothers to become love rivals.

Jimmy turned towards the slightly embarrassed Camila, pulled her closer with a smile, and said to Mila Anderson, "Grandma, what do you think Camila and I are?"

To keep his grandma from worrying and trying to set him up on dates, he intended to use this "homecoming feast" to publicly announce his relationship with Camila.

He was aware of the rumors about Camila and Ivan being a couple, but they were just that—rumors, not facts. He believed many family members knew he was the one who loved Camila, not Ivan.

"Billy, never covet a friend's woman..."

"Screech—"

A sedan drove up quickly, stopping abruptly beside Mila Anderson and Jimmy Horne.

Ivan Horne opened the car door, climbed out, and laughed, "Grandma, Grandpa, were you waiting here for my arrival at just this moment? I dare not take such an honor. The sun is so intense it could bake someone alive; it's a sin, a sin indeed."

Listening to their dear grandson's smooth talk, both Gian and Mila couldn't help but laugh, and Mila's previous words were cut short by Ivan's return.

"You cheeky boy, your tongue is as slippery as an eel. I don't know who you got it from," Mila said with affection. Ivan was her favorite. Upon seeing him, she seemed to forget everything else and lovingly tapped Ivan's nose before letting both him and Jimmy escort her inside.

Camila Ruiz showed a hint of embarrassment; she knew the deeper meaning behind Mila Anderson's earlier words.

She stayed where she was, not entering immediately.

"The young master has never given up on you. If you're two-timing or being unfaithful, I won't let you off!"

From behind, a cold voice came. Florence Ford was standing there, glaring icily at her, her warning sounding like it came straight from Hell, sending a shiver down one's spine.

Camila Ruiz turned her head, looking at Florence in shock.

After eight years of not seeing each other, Florence seemed to have changed completely.

Eight years ago, Florence might have been a bit arrogant, but she was open and kind-hearted.

Now, Florence seemed full of hostility towards her.

Florence shot her a glance, then moved past her, following the others inside.

She had heard the underlying message in what Mrs. Horne had just said, confirming that in everyone's eyes, Ivan and Camila were a couple.
