Chapter 407: Proposal (4)_1
Chapter 407: Proposal (4)_1
HEH HEH...
Hansen Ruiz burst into laughter.
Rachel Bailey laughed herself.
Hansen Ruiz took Rachel Bailey to the beach, a place that was utterly silent and deserted, but there, candlelight illuminated everything brightly. A vast expanse of rose petals gleamed under the candlelight, appearing even more vivid and inviting. A tall windbreak had been erected, shielding the area from the strong sea breeze and allowing the candles to burn continuously, undisturbed by the wind.
As soon as Rachel got out of the car, she was stunned by everything she saw and exclaimed with genuine admiration, "So beautiful!"
Upon closer inspection, her smile grew even wider.
All the lit candles were arranged to form words and a picture: the words "Rachel Bailey, I love you," and the picture was of a heart, formed by lit red candles.
Hansen Ruiz was telling her that his love for her was sincere.
The vast sea of roses was a romantic idea Hansen had cribbed from Glades Horne; he simply couldn't help it—all the romantic ideas he thought of had already been conceived by Glades Horne, so he resorted to imitation.
The roses were placed on the soft sandy beach, also forming words and a picture, with the same six words and the same heart. Under the romantic candlelight, the sea of red roses was especially striking, and it also pricked at Rachel Bailey's heart.
Slowly, she walked over to the heart shape formed by the roses and gazed at it.
Hansen Ruiz stood by her side, watching her intently.
The next moment, Rachel turned her head and giggled at him, "Hansen Ruiz, this is so romantic; I never imagined you could be romantic."
Hansen Ruiz laughed helplessly, feigning innocence while he took the opportunity to pull her into his arms and pleaded his case, "Rachel, aren't you wronging me? What's wrong with me having a romantic side?"
Truthfully, everyone has a romantic side; they just haven't shown it because they haven't faced the person they truly love. Once a man really falls for a woman, he'd do everything in his power to make her happy, to make her feel romance, to leave beautiful memories in her heart and mind.
"You, well, how should I put it—you're like a harmless sheep on the outside, a cunning fox at heart, with the ruthlessness of a wolf, yet also the gentleness of a rabbit. Hmm, you're quite an enigma... But, I seem to be even stranger, to have fallen for someone as complex as you."
When Hansen Ruiz heard her describe him that way, he grew more disheartened with each word, but when she reached her final sentence, his spirits lifted entirely. He pinched her nose playfully, laughing, "You really scared me." There was subtext in his words.
He feared he might never find a place in her heart, that she might still harbor reservations about their difference in status.
This man, who feared nothing in heaven or earth, had finally found his weakness.
Rachel Bailey hugged him back, her laughter subsiding as she quietly snuggled into his strong, warm embrace.
After a moment, Hansen Ruiz pushed her away, but as she looked at him puzzled, he took out the engagement ring he had prepared from his coat pocket and presented it to her. He gently opened the velvet box and, gazing at her affectionately, said deeply, "Rachel Bailey, I, Hansen Ruiz, have been adrift for thirty-five years. No woman has pitied me or been willing to take me in, leaving my home without a mistress. I'm always on my own for meals, dressing, sleeping, and shopping. You have a kind heart; albeit a sharp tongue, you're soft on the inside. So, take me in, would you? Let me have someone to share meals with. For dressing—I hope you don't mind—I'll help you undress at night and dress you in the morning. Let me have someone to sleep with, so in this cold winter, we can hold each other and keep our hearts and bodies warm. And for shopping, I'll carry your things for free. What do you say? Will you take me in?"
TEE HEE...
In this romantic moment, with such tender sentiments, she wanted to respond with equal depth, but she couldn't bring herself to. The words of Hansen's marriage proposal were just too hilarious, too unique, so she started laughing—so hard that her stomach hurt.
There were plenty of women who wanted to marry him, yet he made himself sound so pitiful. In this world, no one was better at turning black into white than Hansen Ruiz.
"Rachel!" Hansen called her name again, his voice deep and full of emotion. Could she give him an answer?
Rachel Bailey kept giggling and wasn't in a hurry to answer. He had not yet met her parents, and it was still unclear what kind of relatives their marriage would entail. Her parents, concerned about her having a very wealthy boyfriend, insisted that she bring him home to meet them and get their approval before they agreed to let them be together.
In the distance, hidden from view, Anton Wallace was stealthily capturing the romantic scene with his digital camera.
His aunt had pressured him to come and break up his cousin's romantic relationship, but he dared not take any real action. However, he could capture this romantic moment, which he might imitate in the future when he encountered the woman he loved.
