Chapter 406: Proposal (3)_1
Chapter 406: Proposal (3)_1
This process is about gaining one success after countless failures.
"Take me to the hospital," the elderly lady closed her eyes and requested.
Glades Horne didn't speak again. After exchanging a glance with Julia Bluen, the two of them stepped forward to support the elderly lady. The others also stood up and began moving towards the exit.
With heavy hearts, the entire family headed to the hospital.
Rachel Bailey sat in Hansen Ruiz's Land Rover, asking him the same question for what must have been the tenth time.
"Hansen Ruiz, where on earth are you taking me?"
While driving, Hansen Ruiz turned his head to glance at her and deliberately said with a wry smile, "Darling, could you please not call me by my full name? How about just calling me Ruiz? Or even 'dear'? I wouldn't mind at all. In fact, I'm eagerly looking forward to it—I'm all ears, waiting for you to call me 'dear'."
"Go away, as far as you can!" Rachel snapped, twisting his arm gently but firmly enough for him to feel her pinch.
After opening her heart to Hansen Ruiz's love, their relationship progressed at a rapid pace. They had now reached a stage of being incredibly close, practically inseparable. Hansen Ruiz doted on her much like Glades Horne doted on her good friend.
To tell the truth, sometimes she fears it's all just a dream, an intoxicating and bewildering dream.
If it is a dream, she hopes never to wake up.
Ah, love is a tricky thing; once you're stuck, it's easy to become anxious over the potential of loss.
Her career change also went fairly smoothly.
She sold off her stock from the fashionable clothing store. With that money, she hired a small truck driver to haul goods for her every day. Additionally, she personally returned to her native village to purchase crops grown by the local farmers and brought them to the busy City District, where she sold them to small retailers for a profit.
Fortunately, since the day she switched careers, her daily profits had been on the rise. Plus, she managed to free up time in the afternoons and evenings to further develop her relationship with Hansen Ruiz.
Earning money and falling in love without missing a beat!
Because her produce came directly from real farmhouses, consumers trusted it and felt assured. Thus, within just a week, she secured a spot in a major Food Market in the city center. Everyone was eager to buy stock from her, praising her vegetables as particularly easy to sell—they were a hit with the citizens.
Rachel Bailey chuckled to herself. Naturally. The citizens have discerning tastes—they know instantly if vegetables are genuinely from a farm. In this materialistic and dazzling metropolis, perhaps the only way people remember farmers is through the delicious taste of the vegetables they grow!
"Ouch, are you trying to murder your own husband?" Hansen Ruiz playfully matched her actions with an exaggerated shout. His eyes, however, softened as he looked at her, a content smile on his lips.
As long as tonight's operation concludes perfectly, he and Rachel Bailey can truly be together.
He dreamed of holding Rachel Bailey as they slept.
There was no helping it; this girl just had a talent for dominating his dreams.
Seeing her succeed after switching careers, her face brimming with confidence each day, made her even more radiant and spirited, captivating his heart all the more.
"What husband? You're getting ahead of yourself." Rachel Bailey's face flushed. With a sweet smile, she gently pinched him again. She felt extremely grateful for the dirty trick Glades Horne had played back then. It had allowed her to give love a chance, and now she was reaping its sweetness.
Now, she wholeheartedly believed that Hansen Ruiz truly loved her.
"It's not too soon. I've been daydreaming and night-dreaming of us making a fortune in betrothal gifts," Hansen Ruiz chuckled, his words sounding like a joke, but they were his heartfelt truth.
"Are you short on money? Need me to lend you some?" Rachel Bailey leaned back comfortably against the seat, casting a playful glance at the man beside her, who had enough money to practically dress her in it. "If you really want to get married, just propose already. Why beat around the bush and bring money into it? Poor USD, always being exploited."
A cunning glint flashed in Hansen Ruiz's eyes. This was exactly the phrase he was waiting for! He was taking her somewhere he had meticulously designed as a romantic setting for a proposal. Inside his coat pocket lay a ring worth millions. The moment she nodded, he'd unhesitatingly slip it onto her finger, branding her as belonging to him, Hansen Ruiz, forevermore.
"Ah, since someone is so impatient to marry me, if I don't do something about it, a certain someone will lose face. Speaking of which, Rachel, you haven't made enough money to lend me, have you? Better save it to buy toys for our future son. I'll cover the milk formula because that's a longer-term expense and naturally more costly. I'll also take care of education costs so you won't have to work so hard. The wife of Hansen Ruiz should just enjoy the good life," he said indulgently.
Hansen Ruiz's way of pampering Rachel Bailey and Glades Horne's way of pampering Julia Bluen were distinct. Hansen's affection always flowed out amidst laughter and jokes, while Glades's was expressed through the thoughtful details of everyday life.
"Cut it out, you're getting more and more ridiculous. Who's impatient to marry you? Stop flattering yourself. We're not even married yet, so how do you know we'll have a son? You're not one of those who value boys over girls, are you? Julia's mother-in-law is like that, always talking about wanting a grandson, which leaves Julia not knowing whether to laugh or cry and feeling pressured. Hansen Ruiz, I'm warning you, don't add to my psychological stress, or else I'll give you seven fairies for daughters… Oh, who said anything about bearing seven fairies for you…"
Rachel Bailey realized that by following Hansen Ruiz's line of conversation, she had inadvertently fallen into the massive pit he had dug for her.
This man was so crafty, always managing to trap her when she least expected it.
Seven fairies?
Hansen Ruiz's eyes sparkled as he suggested, "Rachel, you said it—remember to give me seven fairies. And eighteen Arhats too…"
"What the hell, do you think I'm a sow?"
Seven fairies were daunting enough, and now eighteen Arhats too? In total, wasn't that twenty-five? Heavens! She certainly wasn't capable of bearing so many. At twenty-six, having one child per year would mean giving birth until she was well into her forties. She broke out in a cold sweat at the thought. This suggestion could scare the dead out of their coffins! She couldn't believe he'd actually come up with it.
