Chapter 399 - 399 Marcel Runs into Trouble (4)_1

Julia Bluen hesitated to meet Glades Horne's dark gaze. Her face slightly lowered, she explained what had happened with a forced attempt at humor.

"I don't care about the car; it's your safety I'm worried about. If something had happened to you..." Glades Horne couldn't help but feel a mix of amusement and exasperation. She actually had the nerve to tell him that the other party had come off worse.

He wouldn't mind if the car was just scratched and could be repaired, let alone if it was completely wrecked.

But what if this led to her getting hurt? What would he do then? He couldn't bear the thought of her having an accident. A single slap from his mother was enough to make him fly into a rage; he dared not imagine what kind of madman he would become if any accident befell her.

"I'll be more careful from now on," Julia promised quickly, knowing he was worried about her.

"I don't believe you," Glades Horne said deeply, gazing at her intently.

He didn't believe her!

How could he not believe me? What does he want then? Julia looked at him, blinking. He isn't thinking of arranging a dedicated driver to pick me up and drop me off, is he? But I love driving myself!

"Starting tomorrow—no, starting now—I'll have Wade Coleman drive you to and from work, as well as to client meetings." Glades trusted only Wade's driving skills.

She'd guessed it right.

Julia pulled a face, trying to argue for the freedom to enjoy the thrill of driving. "Glades," she said, "I'll really be very careful in the future. Wade is your bodyguard, responsible for your safety. You worry about my safety, and I worry about yours too."

"If you have a problem with Wade, I don't mind taking care of it myself!" Glades Horne said sternly, his handsome face revealing no room for negotiation.

If he took matters into his own hands, would I have any freedom left? After weighing her options, Julia Bluen had no choice but to accept her fate. Her man wielded too much authority.

"Get in the car. Let's go home." Only after she agreed to have Wade Coleman as her driver did Glades Horne wrap an arm around her and walk her to his car. He opened the back door, then saw Adele Horne shrinking inside. His brow furrowed slightly, and he said dominantly, "Adele, move to the front seat." Then he instructed Wade Coleman, "Wade, take the Young Mistress's car to the repair shop."

"Yes, Young Master."

Adele Horne quickly got out and moved to the front passenger seat. The back seat is their little world for affection; I'd better not be a third wheel.

"First, go to the Golden Kirin. Let Miss Bluen get out, then head back to Grand Courtyard Garden," Glades Horne ordered the bodyguard driving the car.

"No need, just go directly to Grand Courtyard Garden. Adele will be having dinner with us," Julia said offhandedly.

The next moment, Glades Horne's face darkened again. He glared, very displeased, at Adele Horne sitting in the front and asked in a low voice through gritted teeth, "Adele, is that so?"

So cold! Being glared at by her elder brother like that, Adele Horne instantly felt a chill shoot down her spine. Hearing his question, delivered through gritted teeth, made her scalp tingle. Sister-in-law's cooking might be amazing, but with Big Brother being this tyrannical, I'd rather starve!

"Big Brother, I was just rambling! That's your special privilege; I wouldn't dare horn in! Let's go to the Golden Kirin first," Adele Horne said, trying to laugh it off with a playful giggle.

"Happy Sheep..."

"RING, RING..."

Suddenly, the phones of Julia Bluen and Glades Horne rang at the same time. The caller for Julia Bluen was her sister Ruby Bluen. For Glades Horne, however, it was Sovia Morris.

The husband and wife exchanged glances before each answering their phones.

In the front, Adele Horne chuckled, "Couples are so in sync, even their phones ring together! Big Brother, you should change your ringtone to 'Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf' too."

Julia pressed the answer key, then smiled and said, "Sis."

"'Julia...'" Ruby Bluen's tearful voice came from the other end of the line, making Julia's heart clench. She immediately asked anxiously, "Sis, what's wrong? What happened? What?! Brother Marcel had an accident!"

Julia's complexion immediately changed drastically.

Glades Horne received the same message. Sovia Morris was crying her heart out on the phone, and only after a long while did she manage to make it clear that Marcel Horne had been in an accident.

The phone slipped from Julia's hand. Glades Horne's expression also became unprecedentedly tense and grim. Hearing that it was Marcel Horne who'd had an accident, Adele's teasing voice instantly vanished.

"Glades, Brother Marcel had an accident! Quick, to the hospital!" Julia turned, tightly grasping Glades Horne's hand, her voice urgent. Her sister was crying so terribly; Marcel's accident had to be serious, possibly life-threatening.

"Immediately! Right now! To the hospital!"
