Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law

Chapter 395: Affectionate (4)_1

Chapter 395: Affectionate (4)_1

After Julia Bluen finished making breakfast, she stepped out of the living room and happened to glance outside. She saw Adele Horne standing there. Julia paused for a moment, then quickly went out, opened the door for Adele, and asked in surprise, "Adele, what's wrong? Have you been here long? Why didn't you ring the doorbell or knock?"

"I didn't want to disturb your and Glades's sweet dreams," Adele teased with a smirk.

Hearing her words, Julia couldn't help but take another look at her sister-in-law, feeling somewhat sentimental. This once willful little sister-in-law had really changed; she had become mature and sensible. If this were three days ago, Adele would have relentlessly pressed the doorbell without any consideration for disturbing others' sleep.

"I've been up for a while and just finished making breakfast. I have to attend an exhibition today, so I need to leave early. You've come just in time. Let's have breakfast together," Julia said with a smile, closing the door and walking back into the house with Adele.

Adele Horne said nothing.

Once they were inside, Adele suddenly stopped and tugged at Julia's clothes. When Julia looked at her, Adele said hesitantly, "Sister-in-law, I want to go with you, okay? I want to work at your company." This was the reason she had come so early in the morning. Additionally, last night, in the wee hours, a particularly doting husband had called her, using a combination of soft and hard tactics.

Moreover, she really didn't want to stay at home any longer. She was afraid of boredom because when she got bored, she would think of Orlando Evans. Thinking of Orlando Evans meant recalling those hurtful truths. She also dreaded that boredom might lead her to memories of her nightmarish experiences.

So, she wanted to work too. However, she didn't want to follow her big brother's arrangement and go to the Valence Group to be a tea-serving office aide. She thought of working with Julia Bluen instead; at least, Julia was easier to talk to than her brother.

Julia Bluen was taken aback at first, then broke into a smile. Just last night, she had discussed this very matter with Glades Horne. Unexpectedly, the very next day, Adele herself came to request a job at her company.

How wonderful. She didn't have to say anything for her little sister-in-law to take the initiative to join her.

Although Julia also didn't have much experience in business and was still diligently learning, she was very willing to guide her little sister-in-law. She wanted to help transform her into a refined and intelligent lady from a prestigious family, enabling the men who used to dislike her to change their attitudes and pursue her. She also wanted to help Adele regain confidence after the darkness of her past. If her sister-in-law could gain confidence, then happiness would surely find her.

"Adele, are you sure you really want to work?"

Julia was still a bit worried. "You can't be slacking off, you know."

"If she does that, feel free to dock her salary—a thousand each time. That'll make sure she doesn't dare," came Glades Horne's amused voice from the staircase.

"Big Brother only knows how to pick on people," Adele complained, stamping her foot, yet she swiftly exchanged a look with Glades. She then assured Julia, "Sister-in-law, don't worry. I will absolutely become your most reliable assistant. I won't let my niece and nephew suffer; I'm their most loving aunt, after all. Sister-in-law, you must have some confidence in me, okay? You can't just bully me like Big Brother. Next time he bullies me, I'll be counting on you to save me." As she spoke, she affectionately linked arms with Julia.

A close bond between sisters-in-law, resembling that of real sisters, was what Julia had always hoped for and strived to achieve.

As Adele linked arms with her, a wave of warmth washed over Julia, and her smile bloomed brightly. She left Glades behind and led Adele into the small dining room for breakfast. This perfectly illustrated the saying about a new sister-in-law making one forget her husband, much to Glades's slight jealousy.

However, when he saw the smile on his wife's face, he resigned himself to it.

After all, it was he who had called his sister late last night, persuading her to agree to work at Julia's company.

This was the outcome that fulfilled his wife's wishes, and he had no regrets! As long as it was for her, he would never regret anything!

The three of them enjoyed what they considered their warmest breakfast yet, with the sisters-in-law in harmony and the couple deeply in love.

Afterward, Julia Bluen took Adele Horne to the Toy Industry Company. After meeting with the Vice President, the three of them went to the exhibition venue.

The Toy Industry Company produced various toys. The Vice President had prepared high-tech toys for the exhibition, which attracted many businesses.

The three women ceaselessly pitched the market advantages of their products. As the saying goes, "three women make a drama," and these three—Julia, Adele, and the Vice President—all possessed impressive eloquence. They took turns presenting, doing so engagingly that many merchants' interest was piqued. Some chose products and placed orders on the spot, delighting Julia and Adele so much that they grinned from ear to ear.

Vice President Li, being older and more experienced from attending numerous exhibitions, was happy but not as openly overjoyed as the two sisters-in-law.

By the end of the exhibition, the Toy Industry Company had gained many new clients. This experience filled Julia with even more confidence in her work and also ignited Adele's dormant passion for business.

"Adele, Vice President Li, please wait here for me. I'll go get the car." For convenience, Adele hadn't driven; Julia had driven her and Vice President Li to the venue.

"Be careful," Adele cautioned.

"Don't worry, your sister-in-law is an excellent driver. If I entered a race, I'd definitely win a prize!" Julia replied with a confident laugh, already heading towards her car.

Adele chuckled and said to Vice President Li, "Vice President Li, my brother spoils my sister-in-law rotten. She has no idea how high the sky is or how thick the earth is."

Vice President Li simply smiled, knowing Glades Horne indeed spoiled his wife like no other.

Julia Bluen walked up to her pure black Mercedes, unlocked it, and got into the car. She started the engine and drove over to where Adele and Vice President Li were waiting. Once they were in, she drove off, heading for the main road.

However, just as they left the exhibition venue, the road curved. Julia barely avoided a collision with a dark luxury van. The two vehicles nearly scraped past each other as both drivers slammed on their brakes, tires screeching piercingly against the pavement.

Julia broke out in a cold sweat.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed? How do you drive?!" To their surprise, a man dressed in black stepped out of the other vehicle. He's probably a bodyguard or an assistant, Julia thought. The man came over to Julia's window and immediately started berating her.

It was just an accident, yet he's being so aggressive!

"And how were you driving? Do you think we wanted this to happen? It was just a turn—an accident! Why are you being so aggressive?" Adele, sitting in the passenger seat, immediately retorted.

"Sir, I'm sorry. This was truly an accident. We had just entered the road, and it was right at a bend, so... I apologize. If your car is scratched, we'll pay for the damages," Julia said, pulling on Adele's hand, not wanting to escalate the conflict. The luxury van was obviously more prestigious than her Mercedes, indicating that the person inside was of high status.

"Sister-in-law, what are you talking about, paying them? If their car got scratched, ours must have too! We're not asking them for compensation, so why should we pay?" Adele, unlike Julia, was not inclined to be conciliatory. She opened her car door, got out, and quickly walked towards the luxury van, tapping on the rear passenger window. She wanted to speak to the person in charge.

"What do you think you're doing?" Seeing Adele approach and tap on the van's rear window, the man broke into a cold sweat. He hurriedly ran over and pushed her away.

Their young master was sitting in the back of the van, working, and disliked being disturbed.

Seeing the man push Adele, Julia quickly got out of her car and rushed over to shield her. Facing the man with a stern expression, she said, "Sir, please be reasonable! Don't resort to violence. What if you had pushed my sister-in-law down? If she's hurt in the slightest, you'll have a lot to answer for!"

"Enough noise!"

A deep voice came from the rear of the luxury van. The window rolled down, and Noah Reyes glared out irritably, his eyes like two beams of dark light.

Julia stood tall, meeting his sinister gaze. She'd seen plenty of cold, unfriendly people; she wasn't intimidated in the least.

The next moment, however, she noticed his gaze turn unfathomable, fixed intently on Adele, whom she was shielding behind her.
