Chapter 688: Viola (2) Part I
Chapter 688: Viola (2) Part I
“Acting captain, our people have already infiltrated the enemy’s base. I’m sending more people down to search for the target.”
Aerin, the operator, seemed excited. On her monitor, the signal was clear that the members of the Nemesis and Viper had already penetrated the base of the alliance.
However, her words did not get through ‘Manoch’, the acting captain, at all. He was staring at the scene before him. His fingers intertwined under his chin. He was in a serious mode.
“Acting captain? Mr. Manoch?!”
“I heard you!” Manoch shouted back. “Tell them they did very well. Our target is to discover the crystal and capture William. That’s all.”
“...Yes.”
Aerin pouted. Maybe it was because of Manoch’s attitude that seemed like he was disturbed by her.
“What’s wrong, acting captain? Why are you so angry?”
It was Mek who asked that. He smiled at Manoch, even though he knew what Manoch was angry about.
Manoch did not reply. He pointed in front of him for his friend to see. Mek sighed wearily.
The scene before him was a terrifying fight. The sparks and various spells were hitting each other in turmoil. Even though it was far away, everyone knew it was Baron and Lucius.
“Hey, I hope you know that we can only be an interference for them if we get in their way.”
Mek said. He could read Manoch so well that he was angry to only be here as a backup unit for Viper and the members, even though he really wanted to help and fight.
“Yeah, I know that.”
Manoch clicked his tongue, yet he did not think so at all. From the look of it, this was not what Mr. Sander had in mind. Where was Na? Shin? Maysa? Why was Ms. Baron fighting Lucius alone?!
“Ms. Aerin, please tell the Viper unit to speed up. And Orn, put Alexander’s weapons on standby.”
The firm decision was from the determined eyes behind the silver-frame glasses. Everyone knew what Manoch was about to do. They smiled and shrugged as if it could not be helped.
“Just you wait...” Manoch murmured.

The disastrous battle was like an endless nightmare. The two legendary figures did not give up. Viola’s attack was so violent that only a slash from her sword could cut a city into two!
Meanwhile, Lucius, another beast, did not just let her do that. His agility and sharp senses allowed him to evade every attack from the Goddess of War. Moreover, he even countered with a destructive spell that he was good at. Of course, Viola only had to flick her sword and brush it off!
“You got better, Viola!” Lucius shouted. “It seems like aging and the effect of the Project King did not wither you or your brain wave control at all.”
“Shut up!”
Viola screeched and continued to attack. Even so, Lucius avoided direct attack. It was clear that he was stalling time for something.
“You can only run away, Lucius?! In the end, you can only be a coward, huh?!”
“Battles are not only about reckless attacks, Viola.”
Then, Lucius flicked his hand, and the red beam was shot out at Viola. The amber eyes narrowed before she flipped and dodged it.
The beam exploded behind Viola. She sped up and attacked Lucius in close range. That was the first time that Lucius slowed down. He gathered the beams and formed a magic sword in his hand.
The second their sword collided, an immense pressure was created as if to destroy everything in its path!
They stared into each other’s eyes.
“It seems like your attack is a little weaker now, Viola. Is that why you’re in such a rush to finish the fight?”
The amber eyes narrowed. Her rosy lips were stretched into a smile.
“Maybe I just want to send you to hell as fast as I can.”
Then, she swung her sword and Lucius was thrown off. She did not hesitate to dash at him. The attack in the air got even more intense after Lucius decided to use his sword.
They slammed at each other so fast that the audience could not keep up anymore. They looked like colored beams that dashed past and hit each other with an incredible speed.
Even Shin and Valentine, whose eyesight was known to be very good, could not follow them.
“What the hell is this fight...?” Valentine murmured. “Those three were enough to wipe out the whole city. This is the world level.”
“This isn’t good...”
Suddenly, Shin said while still staring at the fight.
“What is it, Shin?” Valentine asked.
“If this goes on, Ms. Baron will lose.”
“What..?” The big sister opened her mouth widely. “Can you see it? And what do you mean about the losing part? It looks to me like she can still fight. Maybe she’s even better than him.”
“The problem isn’t that, Rak.”
The big sister blinked. She did not understand her brother.
“Too much brain usage is the most dangerous thing.”
“...I don’t understand, Shin.”
“It’s like you’re holding your breath,” Shin said with a serious voice. “Using the Signetic continuously is a huge burden to the brain and the body. It’s also a double-edged sword that eats up the user’s senses. I know too well how that feels, Rak. From the look of it, Ms. Baron has to release so much Signetic or she won’t be able to fight Lucius like this. This way, all the burden’s on her brain.”
Shin learned this from Baron’s training at ‘Nasen’. It was the lesson that she was trying so hard to preach, but why was she fighting so recklessly now while releasing her Signetic that much?
“But Lucius should be releasing the same amount of Signetic? Or he should have been killed by now.”
“You’re not wrong,” Shin said. “But are you forgetting that he’s the Core? Pride is a part of him. His brain wave won’t waver as much as us who have to depend on the PM to get here. No matter how much he releases his Signetic, it won’t affect him. He’s probably cut all of his worldly emotions out and already become a permanent character in the game.”
“Then, does that mean...” Valentine started to understand.
“Yes, it’s like those crazy people have endless power.”
“N... No way. This is cheating.”
“And now Lucius is trying to stall for the longest time for Ms. Baron to lose it.” Shin clicked his tongue. “Ms. Baron knows this so well, that’s why she’s been trying to finish the fight as soon as possible. From the look of it, I think it’ll be a long time before that and it’s not good.”
Shin inhaled and slowly closed his eyes. The King’s Ring started to glow so brightly that Valentine had to narrow her eyes.
“Shin, you...”
“Sooner or later, I’ll have to go back into the fight. Ms. Baron can’t do this alone.”
The firm answer came with the reappearance of the Longinus. Both of his arms were completely healed. The SP was about to be filled again. His strength slowly returned to him. They looked at each other.
Valentine knew right away that she would not be able to stop him. Of course, she would not let her little brother fight alone.
The Illusion popped up in her hand.
“..Rak?” Shin raised his eyebrow a little.
“Don’t underestimate your sister. Just now, I didn’t even use half my power. I’ll show you what I’ve got.”
