The Signetics were scary, but the four gods were scarier!!

“You must be tired.”

Vis greeted her. She grinned and turned to Maysa.

“Not as tired as you,” Valentine said. “It looks like a tired job for you to tend to such a big wound.”

“You... You should learn to be humble sometimes, you know?” Vis let out a long sigh.

“Hey, it was easy. Ms. Maysa had already pointed out every weakness. I only had to strike at them and it’s done. And I didn’t say it was me, Ms. Maysa is the winner in this fight.”

She put her arms around Maysa as if they were close friends. Maysa could only blink. Vis shook his head wearily. He smiled at Maysa as if to say “This girl is like this. Please don’t mind her”.

Maysa smiled. She knew full well how Valentine was. ‘The Signetics are pretty selfish’ was accurate.

“Is it okay to help me?”

Maysa asked Valentine before glancing at Gaia to see if she really was dead. Once she saw that she had now turned into stone, she whistled softly.

“Do I need a reason to help you?” Valentine raised her eyebrow.

“Of course. This is war and you’re the leader of the Bunny Burner, one of the four gods and the Nemesis’s enemy. Without any reason, it’d be very strange.”

Valentine looked Vis in the eye.

“Umm... How should I say this?” She scratched her neck. “I’m not here as the leader of the Bunny Burner.”

“What do you mean?” Maysa narrowed her eyes.

“A man asked me to help with a mission in this war. That’s it.”

“A mission? What is it? And now?”

The more she listened to her, the more confused she was.

What kind of a secret mission would happen during the war? More importantly, the one who accepted it was one of the four gods, Valentine!

“Someone wants me to join the war and my main goal is to protect the daughter and give you a hand to fight the Cores.”

Valentine pointed at Gaia with her thumb. Maysa was so surprised that she opened her eyes widely.

“You know the reason behind the war?!” She shouted.

“Not all.” Valentine smiled awkwardly. “I only know some of it. I didn’t really want to come, but I can’t refuse the order.”

“Order? Whose order?” Maysa raised her eyebrow.

Valentine looked at Vis as if to ask if she could answer that. They thought that Maysa did not trust people that easily and she would not trust them if they kept it a secret.

“She’s the first deputy leader of the Bunny Burner.”

“The first deputy leader?” Maysa frowned a little and opened her eyes widely again. “Ms. Natalia, Nam’s mother, asked you to join the war?”

“Yes.”

Valentine nodded with a somewhat wry face. Maysa smiled nervously. She did not know her well. She only knew that Nam’s mother had already retired from the Pride world a long time ago.

“Then, you’re here with the rest of the Bunny Burner?” Maysa asked.

“No.” She shook her head. “Ms. Natalia told me parts of the story and I think it’s quite risky. We’re here just the two of us for more convenience. I didn’t want to join the war in the first place and from what I can see now, William is basically a cornered rat. However, once I learned that Nam is Ms. Natalia’s daughter, I decided to come. She’s my brother’s significant other and Ms. Natalia kept ordering me to not let her daughter die in this war.”

“....”

Maysa stroked her lips as if she was thinking about something.

If Ms. Natalia ordered Valentine to come here, that means the Pride’s developers were well aware of the Cores’ movement. They should be monitoring the situation, so it was a little relieving to know. The reason why they could not interfere was because it was during the war and the Cores were using that as an advantage.

“Ms. Maysa?”

Valentine called her since Maysa had fallen silent for a while. Maysa was startled slightly and shook her head.

“If you really want to help us, I have to thank you.” Maysa nodded. “The situation right now is quite confusing. We scatter around. I want you to please go support Shin and Nam. If they’re one with their task, please tell them to go for William right away.”

The members of the Bunny Burner were snapped back into reality. Valentine nodded and turned to Vis. “Search for Shin and Waree’s location.”

“What about you?”

Valentine turned back to Maysa once Vis was gone.

“I’ll keep watch of the overall for a little longer. My people fighting close to here. I’ll go help them and will follow everyone to the center of the city later. The leader of the enemy’s there.”

“Roger that. I’ll see you then.”

Valentine followed Vis out, leaving Maysa sighing there. Her brain had cooled down now, thanks to those two.

She quickly opened the information screen and looked at the result of each fight that she missed. She smiled when she saw that everyone was doing well according to plan.

What was frustrating was Kongkiat and Angie’s status that was now ‘Sudden change of plan’, even though Tunwa’s was still ‘According to plan’.

“Yikes~ That means Tun is fighting alone?” Maysa smiled awkwardly. “Will a defensive fighter like him be alright? Or should I go help him first?”

She sighed. Sander’s HP was still more than half and the battle closest to her right now was loud and messy.

“Maybe I should go help Tun. I don’t think I’ll make it if I interfere with the two monsters.”

“Do you really think we’re done here, Nemesis’ chief of staff?”

She had not decided to do anything when she went stiff...

A hoarse voice sounded from behind her. Her grey eyes were opened widely because of the immense pressure that got her sweating.

Maysa slowly turned around. What she saw almost made her heart stop beating...

A six-meter-tall golem was there not so far from her. More importantly, a short-haired girl with blue eyes was sitting on its shoulder with her blood-soaked. She was covered in wounds from head to toe.

Emilia was not dead. She even walked up to her with a golem!

“Y... You’re still alive?” Maysa murmured softly.

“If you think that’d kill me, you’re wrong!”

The golem raised its hand up, hoping to crush Maysa under it.

“Ms. Maysa!”

Valentine could sense Emilia’s brain wave, so she returned with her Illusion. The number one gunner quickly pointed the gun at Emilia.

Bang!!

The illusion bullet was fired. Yet, Emilia had been predicting that Valentine would come back. She jumped off and ordered it to take the bullet while she was dashing at Maysa!

“Wait for me, Valentine. Once I’m done with Maysa, it’ll be you!!”

Emilia shouted as Golem was broken to pieces!

The small girl ran towards Maysa. The gunners gritted their teeth. Maysa narrowed her eyes, feeling frustrated that she miscalculated this.

She knew that it was too easy. This cockroach would not die that easily.

“Now it’s over, Nemesis’ chief of staff!”

Emilia’s hand started to turn into a sand blade. Maysa did not have the strength to fight anymore. Her MP and HP were in a coma stage.

“Wisana!!!!”

Maysa shouted loudly. She did not even realize that she did that. She was so scared and did not know what to do. Her previous fights were fine only because that man was always beside her.

She did not want anything anymore.

She was not a strong person. She did not cover his back. It was actually the other way around...

She only wanted to see him...

Wisana.

“Are you calling me, sweetheart?”

It was such a gentle voice. She could feel the warmth, even though it was so soft.

The grey eyes were slowly opened. A man’s back was in front of her from nowhere. He was just right on time.

Emilia gritted her teeth tightly and stared at the man while breaking a sweat. Her sand blade hand was stopped midway with the man’s two fingers!

Everyone was surprised. Vis and Valentine could not even move an inch, even though they should have helped. Maysa wanted to smile, but she could not.

The amber eyes slowly turned around. His fingers were still locked on Emilia’s blade. It was such a cheerful smile. The kind of smile that could always make Maysa happy.

“I’m sorry I’m late. I rushed here as fast as I could after the training. I’m so lucky it’s still on time.”

A delightful voice said. Maysa’s eyes got teary.

“..Y... You should be faster, dummy.” She smiled.

The man smiled at her and turned back to Emilia with another kind of expression.

“V... Vincent.” Emilia pretended to be cheerful.

“Emilia.”

The man said her name while tilting his head nonchalantly.

“It seems you’ve gone a little too far.” He smirked. “Next time, if you don’t want me to kill you, there’s only one rule. Don’t mess with my girl!”

The King’s ring on the middle finger of his right hand suddenly caught on fire. Emilia opened her eyes widely. She was trembling. She had never seen anyone with this much pressure. Not even Viola or Lucius!

“When you respawn, tell your leader that the real war starts now!”
